Abstract

Transportation networks have been developed during the recent decades with the rapid growth of economy. At the same time, the conflicts between different transportation modes were getting more and more intense. To describe the competition relationship in integrated transportation system, a multi-agent competition model was presented. It is important to provide decision support for regulators to lead more reasonable distribution of resources for planning and operating the integrated transportation network. Thus, a simulation program was developed to implement the proposed model and provide computer-aid decision support. Abstract

Order release is the key premise for the semiconductor wafer fabrication system to perform well, which is also one of the paramount significant components in the scheduling strategies. Most order release strategies merely have focused on the workloadbut failed in considering the remarkable influence oncycletime of common orders that is brought by unexpectedrushones.In this paper an on-linemechanismbased on Theory of Constraintsfor lot releaseusingself-Adaptive Neural Fuzzy Inference System modelswas presentedwhich is able to adjust the release rhythmdynamicallyaccording to dynamics of fabs.In our approach, an ANFIS model was established to predict the ratiobetweenhotand common lotsin wafer fabto perform adjustments on the order release schedule in advance.Simulated experimentsbased on the HP24 model were carefully performed and experimental results proved a better performance of common lotsthan original TOC on a large scale, especially when it comes to the situation of disturbance. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3488

Abstract

According to the license plate recognition problem, this paper did the research about license plate location and characters recognition. It proposed two new algorithms, they separately are license location algorithm based on color segmentation and fault-tolerant characters recognition algorithm based on BP neural network. In the pre-processing stage, it proposed image enhancement algorithm which could make the image more easily analyzed by computer. In the location stage, it made utilization of color and shape information, and then proposed location algorithm. In the recognition stage, it fully made the consideration of characters’ fault-tolerant, and then made the use of improved BP neural network to recognize characters. It did some experiment by MATLAB. Experiments show that the special license plate fault-tolerant characters recognition algorithm is more accurate than the original license plate recognition methods, and its recognition rate has been improved greatly. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i5.4947

Abstract

Generation of high traffic from continuous sensing and collection of medical data from various biosensors on multiple body is most likely to occur in the Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN). This could be a factor to the congestion in the network. Occurrence of congestion would collapse the performances in the WBAN network in terms of increment in delay, high packets loss, reduction in throughput and packet deliver ratio (PDR). The crucial concerns in WBAN are prevention from the loss of critical data and longer delay in the network as they could result to late delivery of medical treatment and possibility of the increase in mortality. Therefore, this study proposes a mechanism to alleviate the congestion from happening in the first place through discarding the corrupted packets before the beginning of data transmission to the base station. Extensive simulations are done in OMNeT+ to analyze the performance of the proposed mechanism by varying traffic from low to high under different number of nodes and constant Bit Error Rate (BER) and packet size. From the finding, it can be concluded that the proposed mechanism shows better performances in terms of low delay and packet loss as well as high throughput and PDR compared to typical WBAN.

Abstract

This paper presents a Hybrid Artificial Neural Network (HANN) for chiller system Measurement and Verification (M&V) model development. In this work, hybridization of Evolutionary Programming (EP) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) are considered in modeling the baseline electrical energy consumption for a chiller system hence quantifying saving. EP with coefficient of correlation (R) objective function is used in optimizing the neural network training process and selecting the optimal values of ANN initial weights and biases. Three inputs that are affecting energy use of the chiller system are selected; 1) operating time, 2) refrigerant tonnage and 3) differential temperature. The output is hourly energy use of building air-conditioning system. The HANN model is simulated with 16 different structures and the results reveal that all HANN structures produce higher prediction performance with R is above 0.977. The best structure with the highest value of R is selected as the baseline model hence is used to determine the saving. The avoided energy calculated from this model is 132944.59 kWh that contributes to 1.38% of saving percentage.

Abstract

As a novel class of inorganic phosphors, oxynitride and nitride luminescent materials have received considerable attention because of their potential applications in solid-state lightings and displays. In this paper, we built the simulation model of the 7000 K in-cup phosphor packaging white LEDs (IPP-WLEDs) by using the Light Tools software. After that, the effect of the Sr[Mg3SiN4]Eu2+ phosphor particle’s size on the lighting performance in term of CCT Deviation (D-CCT), Color Rendering Index (CRI), Color Quality Scale (CQS), and Lumen Output (LO) is analyzed and investigated. In addition, the scattering processes in the phosphor layers of the 7000 K IPP_WLEDs is derived using Mat Lab software. From the research results, we can state that the phosphor size significantly effects on the lighting performance of the 7000K IPP_WLEDs. It can be seen that Sr[Mg3SiN4]Eu2+ phosphor can be considered as a novel solution for improving the lighting performance of the WLEDs in the near future.

Abstract

The observer-based H-infinity controller design problem is considered for the networked control systems with uncertain network-induced delays and packet dropouts. The system states are reconstructed by introducing an observer and an augmented system model with time-varying delays is established. Based on the delay-dependent Lyapunov stability theory, a sufficient condition is proposed to ensure that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable with a guaranteed H-infinity performance level r. Since the obtained condition is nonlinear, the singular value decomposition method is applied to convert the nonlinear inequalities into LMIs. The delay-dependent approach shows a less conservative result than the delay-independent approach. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the high validity and merit of the proposed approach.

Abstract

Traffic noise is a major environmental problem in many urban areas and frequently causes complaints from urban residents. An accurate traffic noise map of urban areas can facilitate noise monitoring, traffic strategic planning, street planning, residential area planning and noise prevention or reduction. An SOA based platform for urban traffic strategic noise mapping is proposed in this paper. Service Oriented Computing Environment (SORCER) is adopted to build the highly flexible distributed platform for noise monitoring and noise mapping. The platform architecture and the hierarchical services structure based on SOA are presented. The major services in the platform, including the task scheduler service, prediction service and noise propagation calculation service are analyzed in details. Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is emergingtechnology and has wide range of applications, such as environment monitoring, industrial automation and numerous military applications. Hence, WSN is popular among researchers. WSN has several constraints such as restricted sensing range, communication range and limited battery capacity. These limitations bring issues such as coverage, connectivity, network lifetime and scheduling and data aggregation. There are mainly three strategies for solving coverage problems namely; force, grid and computational geometry based. This paper discusses sensor deployment using Random; Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and grid based MDBPSO (Modified Discrete Binary Particle Swarm Optimization) methods. This paper analyzes the performance of Random, PSO based and MDBPSO based sensor deployment methods by varying different grid sizes and the region of interest (ROI). PSO and MDBPSO based sensor deployment methods are analyzed based on number of iterations. From the simulation results; it can be concluded that MDBPSO performs better than other two methods.

Abstract

Balinese papyrus is one of the media to write the ideas from minstrels in ancient times. Currently, many ancient literatures which are written in the papyrus, that also very difficult to identify because the writings were beginning to rot or fade influenced by age. In this study takes the Balinese papyrus characters as its object. The improvement of the image quality in image processing of the characters here refers to the change for the quality of the image before its next development. There is the process of identifying the color space to spot the shape of the papyrus characters.
