Abstract

In this paper, we proposed a preliminary taxonomy of Malay social media text. Performing text analytics on Malay social media text is a challenge. The formal Malay language follows specific spelling and sentence construction rules. However, the Malay language used in social media differs in both aspects. This impedes the accuracy of text analytics. Due to the complexity of Malay social media text, many researches has chosen to focus on classifying the formal Malay language. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to propose a formal taxonomy for Malay text in social media. Narrow and informal categorisations of Malay social media text can be found amidst efforts to pre-process social media text, yet cherry-picked only some categories to be handled. We have differentiated Malay social media text from the formal Malay language by identifying them as Social Media Malay Language or SMML. They consists of spelling variations, Malay-English mix sentence, Malay-spelling English words, slang-based words, vowel-les words, number suffixes and manner of expression. This taxonomy is expected to serve as a guideline in research and commercial products.

Abstract

The power supply methods for fixed-velocity-measuring system (FVMS) based on photovoltaic (PV) technology are proposed after analysis and comparison among the current methods for FVMS on freeway. According to the sunshine condition in typical low sunshine areas, all components consist of PV system are specially designed, including the related maximum power point track (MPPT) technology for solar panel and the charge-discharge algorithm for storage battery in the dedicated controller. Targeted electricity saving strategies for FVMS on freeway are put forward. Experimental results show high efficiency and stability of the dedicated controller and in practical application, the specially designed PV system in this paper can provide continuous electric power supply throughout a year in an efficient way, and the output voltage and frequency are stable. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.5477

Abstract

Aiming at the question of parameter of double-tuned filter, A new method of designing double-tuned filter was proposed based on resonance frequency, by using the relationship that the impedance of double-tund filter and two parallel single tuned filters is equal and the  resonance frequency of single tuned filter is the zero of the impedance of double-tuned filter. A simulation was established to prove the correctness of this method by using the software MATLAB in a power system. Simulation results show that the double-tuned filter designed in this method works well. All of this had an important guiding significance for the research of double-tuned filter. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2182

Abstract

Advanced Encryption Standard is the security based algorithm used to protect the data from the attackers. In this paper, Optimized Inverse MixColumn transformation has been designed with the help of Xtime multiplication process. Xtime multiplication performs the multiplication function for ‘m X m’ data; results will be m-bit data. Further the complexity of Xtime multiplication process has been identified and re-designed with the help of effective CSE techniques. Developed Reduced Xtime based optimized Inverse MixColumn transformation provide better performances than traditional Xtime based Inverse MixColumn multiplication.

Abstract

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the driving reasons for visual deficiency, affecting people globally. Currently, the ophthalmologists need to inspect enormous number of images with a specific end goal to perform mass screening of Diabetic retinopathy. In this paper, an efficient Computer aided system based on a Hybrid framework is proposed for the early diagnosis of DR by extracting the early DR lesions such as microaneurysms and hemorrhages. The development of such a screening system would decrease the workload of the ophthalmologists, as they now need to look at those retinal images that are analyzed by the system, as irregularities. The retinal images obtained from standard retinal databases and Hospitals are pre-processed followed by the detection and elimination of blood vessels, optic disk and exudates. Quick propagation Neural Network is used for training and testing of the retinal fundus images since it has the fastest execution time. Linear Classification and Multi class classification of retinal fundus images are performed for the classification and grading of retinal fundus images into normal and abnormal using Alyuda Neuro-Intelligence software. A patient database is created using MySQL to store the required details of the patient and a graphical user interface is developed for an efficient usage of the system. The execution time of the system is found to be 7-9 seconds and is tested on 270 retinal fundus images. The precision and accuracy of the algorithm is 92.5% and 93.9%, respectively.

Abstract

This paper presents the Least Mean Square (LMS) noise canceller using uniform poly-phase digital filter bank to improve the noise can-cellation process. Analysis filter bank is used to decompose the full-band distorted input signal into sub-band signals. Decomposition the full-band input distorted signal into sub-band signals based on the fact that the signal to noise ratio (S/N) is inversely proportional to the signal bandwidth. Each sub-band signal is fed to individual LMS algorithm to produce the optimal sub-band output. Synthesis filter bank is used to compose the optimal sub-band outputs to produce the final optimal full-band output. In this paper, m-band uniform Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) digital filter bank has been used because its computational complexity is much smaller than the direct implementation of digital filter bank. The simulation results show that the proposed method provides the efficient performance with less and smooth error signal as compared to conventional LMS noise canceller.

Abstract

Domain Name System (DNS) Service is the basic support of Internet, which security plays a vital role in the entire Internet. Because DNS requests and responses are mostly UDP-based, and the existing large numbers of open recursive DNS servers, it is vulnerable to distributed denial of services (DDoS) attacks. Through the analysis of several aspects of these attacks, a novel approach to detect DDoS attack is proposed based on characteristics of attack traffics (CAT) time series. Then CAT time series are transformed into a multidimensional vector series and a support vector machine (SVM) classifier is applied to identity the attacks. The experiment results show that our approach can identify the state features of the abnormal flow due to the DDoS attacking flows, and detect DDoS attacks accurately DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3355

Abstract

Aiming at minimizing the total travel time of the road network, a cooperation model of traffic control and route guidance is built based on real-time speed obtained from cooperative vehicle infrastructure system. Genetic algorithm is used to solve the cooperation model to get the optimal green ratio and guidance rate of flow through transforming genetic algorithm with constraints into unconstrained genetic algorithm by penalty function. The simulation results of an experimental simulation on a small network show that this method can effectively balance the network flow, reduce total travel time and improve the efficiency of road network.

Abstract

The most of the new protective schemes are based on a communication channel, which cannot be guaranteed in practice. However, during blackouts or cascading failures in the power grid, as system conditions change significantly and rapidly, more information exchanges may be required by the control centers and substations. In other words, the communication channels are operating with high load and therefore become more vulnerable when the power grid is in contingent conditions. Thus, relying on the communication channel for decision making may not be the optimal solution for protective relays, although it might be beneficial to have information exchange. In this article, a novel protective logic is proposed based on phasor measurement units (PMUs) data for optimal coordination of overcurrent relays. PMUs measure the positive sequence voltage at two substations separated by hundreds of miles which are synchronized precisely with the aid of a GPS satellite system. The precise time-tags are attached with samples, and this information is exchanged over communication channels and collected by control centers and/or substations. By extracting the relevant information from these measurements, phasor information can be obtained at any node where PMUs are installed in the power grid. This can be used to do more accurate state estimation, control, and protection. In these relays, besides current and voltage, phasor information has become an important measurement in decision making. The proposed method is tested on IEEE 8-bus standard network.
