Abstract

The traditional DV-Hop sensor location algorithm estimates the distance between unknown nodes and anchor nodes by hop distance instead of straight-line distance. In the actual location condition, unknown nodes and anchor nodes mostly connect to each other through broken line. When the deviation of the estimated value and the actual value of average distance per hop is large, the error of estimated and actual distance between unknown node and the anchor node increases. This paper analyzes the compositions of DV-Hop positioning algorithm and the factors easily causing errors, proposes the DV-Hop positioning algorithm improved by mobile beacon dynamically selection. This algorithm is based on the basic ideology of the DV-Hop positioning algorithm in which a moving virtual node moves along the pre-set route and broadcasts its position information to form multiple virtual beacons. The unknown nodes can compute the average hop distance by weight processing and the distances among each virtual beacon. Finally, the position of the unknown node can be computed and the accurate positioning can be finished. Finally, the simulation experiment testifies the improved DV-Hop positioning algorithm to decrease cost and complexity and increase the positioning accuracy and efficiency. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i4.4304

Abstract

With the fast development of networks these days organizations has overflowing with the collection of millions of data with big number of combination. This big data challenges over trade troubles. It requires more analysis for the high-performance procedure. The new method of hadoop and MapReduce methods are discussed starting the data mining standpoint. In the proposed research work we have to progress performance through parallelization of different operations such as loading the information, index building and evaluating the queries. Thus the performance analysis is completed with the minimum of three nodes with in the Amazon cloud environment. Hbase is a open source, non-relational and distributed database model. It executes on the pinnacle of Hadoop. It consists of a single key with multiple values. Looping is avoid in retrieving a meticulous data from huge datasets and it consume less amount of time for execute the data. HDFS file system is used to store the data after performing arts the map reduces operations and the execution time is decreased when the amount of nodes gets increased. The performance analysis is tuned with the parameters such as the carrying out complexity. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v15i1.8080

Abstract

Energy consumption of clustering routing protocol is one of the exigent problems needs to solve in wireless sensor networks. Aiming at the uneven energy consumption and unreasonable cluster heads selection in LEACH protocol, a new clustering routing protocol is proposed in this paper including number of cluster heads, cluster head choosing algorithm and network topology. Finally we give some analysis and comparison between the improved protocol and other two protocols, and the results show that the improved protocol can increase node energy-efficiency and prolong network survival lifetime. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i10.3431

Abstract

Measurement of soil moisture commonly by applying the soil moisture sensors is to measure the condition of the ground around which is relatively not wide. Therefore if applied for the large-scale, repeated measurements are required in accordance with the determined point. As a result it takes time to get the whole results. With the existence of wireless sensor technology then this problem can be overcome. This wireless sensor system will create a network consisting of nodes and server. In this study the server part is a server computer that requires a web server application together with its script to display and store data, while the node part is the data reader system. In the data system reader module, the sensor device is required as the input that is SEN0114, the processor is a microcontroller, while the wireless uses Wi-Fi module that is ESP8266. Wi-Fi topology used later is infrastructure (using access points). In this research, it begins by testing the sensor and then testing the data validation between the node and the server. SEN0114 sensor has different value from the American Standard Method (ASM) that is 0.922%. While the data validation test of the measurement result is Wi-Fi ESP8266 module which has a maximum distance of 14 meters toward the access points.

Abstract

The contemporary advancements in CMOS technology and Multimedia systems enabled image communication over resource constrained Visual Sensor Network (VSN). However, the size of image data is huge. It is wise to send the compressed image over the bandwidth limited network. Compression algorithms also should be of energy efficient with low complexity and should offer acceptable image quality. In this work an image coder offering low bit rate less than 0.5bpp is aimed. In this paper, a low memory and energy efficient skipped zonal based Binary DCT is proposed that codes the transformed samples using Golomb Rice code. Simulation results offered low bitrate 0.39 bpp with PSNR of 27.34 dB for the standard gray scale test image of Lena size 512 x512 pixels.

Abstract

Reactive power compensation is an essential part of a power system and the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) plays an important role in controlling the reactive power flow over the transmission line. The basic building block of the STATCOM is a voltage source inverter (VSI) that generates a synchronous sinusoidal voltage and because of the high MVA ratings, it would be expensive to provide independent, equal, regulated dc voltage sources to power the multilevel converters which are presently proposed for STATCOMs. Dc voltage sources can be derived from the dc link capacitances which are charged by the rectified ac power. In this paper a new stronger control combined of nonlinear control based Lyapunov’s theorem and Ant Colony Algorithm (ACA) to maintain stability of multilevel STATCOM and the utility.

Abstract

A knowledge base is redundant if it contains parts that can be inferred from the rest of it. In this paper, with no district bound, we study the reduction theory and algorithm on proposition logic set. The propositions of a given proposition set fall into three categories: necessary proposition, useful proposition, and useless proposition. A reduction of a given set is composed of all the necessary propositions and some useful propositions. At the beginning we introduce induced formal context of proposition set, and then propose the method of reduction on proposition set based on correlation analysis.

Abstract

The construction of electric vehicles (EVs) charging station needs to be planed according to the ownership of EVs, traffic condition, population etc. Therefore a BP neural network based method to forecast the EV ownership for a city is presented in the paper, which considers the influence on the EV ownership caused by many related economy factors, including GDP of a city, vehicle production, per capita crude steel production, per capita generation capacity, road passenger traffic, highway mileage and the total population.  A BP neural network is set up for the forecast of EV ownership, and the input layer contains seven neutrons, which represent different economic factors. There are three neurons in its hidden layer, and the output is the EV ownership.  Then the method to predict the EV ownership of a city is presented, which is based on the forecast of the civilian car ownership in a city and the country. The EV ownership in the city of Chongqing from the year 2013 to 2020 is predicted, and the accuracy of the model is verified firstly, then the EV ownership in Chongqing is obtained, which is helpful to make plans for the development of electric vehicle. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2544

Abstract

Two novel millimeter-wave (MMW) metamaterials (MTMs) unit cells operate at 28 GHz for a future fifth generation (5G) mobile network applications had been designed, presented and numerically investigated. Two MTM structures are proposed; namely the double E-shaped resonator (DER) and T-U shaped resonator (TUSR). The DER and TUSR are consists of a double E and combined T-U shaped, each printed on front side of the substrate layer respectively. DER achieves a bandwidth of 0.5 GHz and a return loss of -34 dB, whereas TUSR features a bandwidth of  0.3 GHz and a return loss of -18 dB. The conventional split range resonator (SRR) was optimized to operate at similar frequency for comparison purpose. The simulation results revealed that the proposed DER and TUSR unit cells achieves the lowest loss as opposed to literature with -0.09 dB (0.99 in linear scale) and -0.23 dB (0.97 in linear scale) respectively. Moreover, a well-known algorithm was used to extract the constitutive parameters and the double negative nature of the two novel MTM structures is proven.
