The posture monitoring system monitors the posture changes of the upper body and the spinal cord applying to ophthalmologists while operating the slit lamp. The motivation to the pursuit of this system is to relate posture changes while in a static sitting posture to the spinal deviation from the g-line. Often times, the spinal deviation from the g-line is classified as bad posture because of the shift in weight distribution on the spine causing pain and discomfort in certain areas of the spine. This paper presents the design concept, the development process and the working principle of the posture monitoring system using Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor. The raw measurement data obtained from human trials is tabulated and converted into a graphical representation in which all postures can be identified and distinguished by referring the relative wave pattern. The procedure is important in the improvement on the posture monitoring system for the human trials on the ophthalmologist in future.

In order to improve the accuracy of price forecasting by Web extracting, a novel efficient improved Adaptive Sliding Window (ASW) that the coefficients of the window width can be auto adjusts is proposed in this paper. Agricultural products price based on ASW is utilized to verify validity of adaptive Back Propagation (BP) neural network and adaptive Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network model respectively. Experiments demonstrated that the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) on ASW model can be getting 99.62 percent accuracy rate. Experiment results proved that the proposed ASW model and adaptive BP neural network model are meaningful and useful to analyze and to research products market, but the proposed ASW model is the best one because of its speed is the fast one which can save time 80 percent than the adaptive BP neural network. Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is a widely used power electronic device to achieve dynamic reactive power compensation and improve the power quality of the system. The ip-iq current detecting method is generally used for STATCOM reactive and harmonic command current detecting. However, it is required that the compensation point of STATCOM be the same as the load current detecting point when using the traditional ip-iq method, limiting the flexibility to choose the installation position of STATCOM. To solve this problem, this paper proposed an improved ip-iq reactive and harmonic current detecting method, both voltage phase angles of the load point and the STATCOM point are used, making the installation position of STATCOM no longer limited by the load current detecting point. The improved ip-iq current detecting method is applied in the DT-STATCOM system, and the simulation results verify the correctness and effectiveness of the improved ip-iq current detecting method. In present stereo audio system is a most popular audio system for different purposes. Now a day’s stereo system is commonly used in communication and other purposes. Moreover Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) based adaptive filtering is an effective filtering process in case of communication and other applications. However adaptive filtering is an adaptive filter process to cancel out the noise from audio signal successfully. Hence the main objective of this paper is to design a NLMS adaptive filter which cancels out the noise from a noisy wave format stereo audio file. Moreover by varying the order of the adaptive filter (such as 8th, 16th, 32th and 64th), the performance of the NMLS adaptive filtered signal with respect to reference and noisy stereo audio signal are analyzed as well.

Cultural heritage reflects a society’s identity, hence should be protected and preserved for the future generation. Digital preservation is significant for cultural heritage since there are a lot of important knowledge and collections of manuscripts and artefacts which need to be preserved to ensure sustainability for future generations. However, there is still a lack in digital preservation methods for cultural heritage especially intangible cultural heritage. This paper discusses cultural heritage and results of a study on intangible cultural heritage preservation. An interview with five experts in intangible cultural heritage domain has been carried out. Results show that level of awareness of preserving intangible cultural heritage is still low. In addition, the heritage practitioners - artisans and craftsmen keep the knowledge and skills in their memory as preservation method. Thus the knowledge depend on individual practitioners since no documentation is made. Informants are also aware of the importance of digitalization of intangible cultural heritage knowledge for the preservation and safeguard.

Aiming at the varying cutting features of depth and thickness in high-speed milling, using mathematical methods to model the theoretical three-dimensional model of calculating cutting forces based on the machining principle. First of all, according to the oblique cutting model, a cutting force model of flank edge was presented. The differential method was used in this process. The model was approached with calculating instantaneous chip thickness based on real tooth trajectory. Secondly, the chisel edge for differential along the vertical direction of cutting edges according to the orthogonal cutting model, calculating the cutting force of the infinitesimal. The cutting force model of chisel edge was constructed by the integral method. Merging the both upon, then the three-dimensional cutting force model is established. In the end, the model was programmed by means of the software Matlab. The result indicates that the numerical results agree well with experimental data, and the foundation of the cutter’s stress field can be laid by this model.

This paper first gave a brief introduction of communication channel models, and then describes the characteristics of the channel emulator. According to the characteristics of the channel model, multipath is a difficult problem for hardware implementation. In order to simplify the hardware, the polyphase filter can be used for multi-path delay. Then the paper reviews the polyphase filter in the decimation and interpolation application, and simply introduces the multi-rate system. And then through the simulation experiments, the characteristics of the sub-filter of the polyphase filter were analyzed. Finally, according to the characteristics of the sub-filter, this paper presents an application in multipath delay. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i4.2337

Landslide is one of the disasters which cause property damages, infrastructure destruction, injury and death. This paper presents the analysis of landslide hazard mapping of Penang Island Malaysia using bivariate statistical methods. Bivariate statistical methods are simple approach which are capable to produce good results in short computational time. In this study, three bivariate statistical methods, i.e. Frequency Ratio (FR), Information Value (IV) and Modified Information Value (MIV) are used to generate the landslide hazard maps of Penang Island. These bivariate statistical methods are computed using MATLAB tool. Landslide hazard map is categorized into 4 levels of hazard. The accuracy of each method and effectiveness in predicating landslides are validated and determined by using Receiver of Characteristics curve. The accuracies of FR, IV and MIV methods are 79.58%, 79.14% and 79.37% respectively.

In this paper, a new data analysis tool called Overlapping Clustering Application (OCA) was presented. It was developed to identify overlapping clusters and outliers in an unsupervised manner. The main function of OCA is composed of three phases. The first phase is the detection of the abnormal values(outliers) in the datasets using median absolute deviation. The second phase is to segment data objects into cluster using k-means algorithm. Finally, the last phase is the identification of overlapping clusters, it uses maxdist (maximum distance of data objects allowed in a cluster) as a predictor of data objects that can belong to multiple clusters. Experimental results revealed that the developed OCA proved its capability in detecting overlapping clusters and outliers accordingly.

This paper proposed three modified Wilkinson power dividers in order to achieve a size reduction and a wide bandwidth. The first structure presented the power divider using compact folded step impedance transmission lines rather than the uniform microstrip line design for operating center frequency of 3 GHz. The second structure showed the power divider with delta-stub for 2.4 GHz. Finally, the third modified structure introduced the two-section Wilkinson power divider using series-delta stub for center frequency of 2.4 GHz as well. The study managed to get an overall dimension of 15 mm × 9.5 mm for the first proposed design achieving a reduction of 75.6 % and fractional bandwidth of 133 %. For the second proposed structure, the size was 15 mm × 15 mm with a reduction of 56 % and fractional bandwidth of 56 %. While the third design size was 17 mm × 15 mm with a reduction of 63.6 % and the structure achieved a broadband bandwidth with fractional bandwidth of 220 %. The proposed power dividers used RT/duroid 5880 substrate with a thickness of 0.38 mm. Simulation and measurement results indicated that the modified power dividers showed equal power division, good phase balance, high isolation between output ports, and good return loss better than -12 dB covering the operating frequency range.
