Abstract

For the problem of long video transmission delay and low nerwork efficiency caused by high energy consumption, A DP-MDP (Dynamic Programming & Markov Decision Processes) video transmission scheme is proposed. The scheme take advantage of that the user instant request is independent to the past states and combine the DP algorithm with MDP to resolve related problem of the user request process, so it can significantly reduce the server and backbone network transmission loss of hot video, then improve the network efficiency. The theoretical analysis and derivation based an DP algorithm are conducted to the entire transmission process, then we establish the analytical expression based on DP algorithm. The simulation results show that compare to conventional video transmission, the video transmission program based on the DP-MDP can effectively save total energy and reduce the system transmission delay.DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i3.4138

Abstract

In this paper, the leader-following consensus problem of high order multi-agent systems with time-varying communication delays and noises is considered. The interconnection topology among the agents is assumed to be switching and undirected. The dynamics of each agent and the leader is a linear system. To track the active leader, a neighbor-based control of each following agent is designed in using local information. The control design technique is based on algebraic graph theory, Riccati inequality and Lyapunov inequality. By using Lyapunov-Razumikhim and stochastic analysis methods, we prove that the closed loop tracking control system is stochastically stable in mean square and the estimation errors converge to zero in mean square as well. Abstract

This paper proposes the modern approach using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm in determining the ideal value of Proportional Integral (PI) gain for current controller of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). Controlling the torque of PMSM and optimizing the PI-gain are the main objectives of this project. The PI controller is employed to control the speed and the torque of the PMSM with the implementation of Field Oriented Control (FOC) method. This new proposed PSO technique proved that the ability in reducing the torque ripple compared to conventional heuristic method. The ideal PI-gain acquired from the PSO was included into current PI controller. From the result obtained, it shows that the viability of the PSO technique is the best to determine PI-gain for current controller.

Abstract

Existing power systems are significantly susceptible to voltage instability problem since such systems are stressed with the huge power transfers across the grids. To guarantee power system stability during stressed conditions, it is important to first identify the voltage unstable load buses to determine appropriate locations for under voltage load shedding. In this study, a new method is proposed for determining weak load bus locations by using reactive power tracing to develop a novel reactive power tracing capable index, named as LQP_LT.  The reactive power tracing algorithm is integrated with the LQP_LT index formulation to generate priority ranking list of weak load buses. The LQP_LT index was tested on the 57 bus system and the resulting priority ranking list is found to have successfully determined the weak load buses for load shedding in the test system. Comparison with other stability indices revealed that the LQP_LT has better sensitivity and response towards determining the location of the weakest load bus for under voltage load shedding implementation.

Abstract

To overcome the staircasing effects and simultaneously avoid edge blurring, We present an adaptive partial differential equation combining the total variation with wavelet transform for image restoration. A noise removal algorithm based on variation method and partial difference equations is proposed in this paper. The combining algorithm takes the advantage of both filters since it is able to preserve edges while avoiding the staircase effect in smooth regions. The TV method provides fast adaptive wavelet-based solvers for the TV model. Our approach not only employs a wavelet collocation method applied to the TV model using two-dimensional anisotropic tensor product of wavelets, but also proposes the differential equation for image restoration. Most conventional image processors consider little the influence of human vision psychology. The algorithm inherently not only combines the restoration property of wavelet compression algorithms with that of the TV model, but also gives a relative new TV functional which considers the influence of human vision psychology. We present a detailed description of our method which indicates that a combination of wavelet based restoration techniques with the TV model produces superior results. Abstract

The setting and optimization of Proportion Integration Differentiation(PID) parameters have been always the important study topics in the automatic control field. The current optimization design methods are often difficult to consider the system requirements for quickness ,reliability and robustness .So a method of PID controller parameters optimization based on Improved Genetic Algorithm(IGA) is presented .Simulations with Matlab have proved that the control performance index based on IGA is better than that of the GA method and Z-N method, and is a method which has good practical value of the PID parameter setting and optimization.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2301

Abstract

A WS provides the communication between heterogeneous systems. While performing this operation, we need to focus on QoS of consumer, provider and registry directory. There will be some parameters like WS selection, prediction and rank these are parameters need to consider while QoS implementation in web services. While performing integration in web services we need to focus on QoS requirements regarding server and network performance. Performance of WS is related to locations i.e the network distance and the Internet connections between consumer and provider. There will be more QoS approach which works on consumers collected QoS data, based on this data system can predict the QoS of WS. Throughput and response time are the QoS of WS. In this paper, we have proposed parallel XML parser, by which we can parse UDDI, WSDL and SOAP XML files parallel by which it will improve the response time and throughput of WS.

Abstract

Nowadays, coaches and sport analyst are concerning about sport performance analysis through sport video match. However, they still used conventional method which is through manual observation of the full video that is very troublesome because they might miss some meaningful information presence in the video. Several previous studies have discussed about tracking ball movements, identification of player based on jersey color and number as well as player movement detection in various type of sport such as soccer and volleyball but not in badminton. Therefore, this study focused on developing an automated system using Faster Region Convolutional Neural Network (Faster R-CNN) to track the position of the badminton player from the sport broadcast video. In preparing the dataset for training and testing, several broadcast videos were converted into image frames before labelling the region which indicate the players. After that, several different trained Faster R-CNN detectors were produced from the dataset before tested with different set of videos to evaluate the detector performance. In evaluating the performance of each detector model, the average precision was obtained from precision recall graph. As a result, this study revealed that the detector successfully detects the player when the detector is being fed with more generalized dataset.

Abstract

Penetration of multilevel inverters (MLI) in to high power and medium voltage application has been increasing because of its advantages. The conventional two levels inverter has high harmonic distortion which gives poor power quality. Lot of topologies has been developed to overcome the drawbacks of a two level inverter. These topologies include more number of switching devices which increases the design complexity and cost. The optimum design of inverter requires less number of switches with better quality in waveform. In this paper, a symmetrical five level and seven levels inverter configuration with simplified pulse width modulation technique is proposed. This proposed inverter requires less switches, less protection circuits along with low cost and size. The analysis of the inverter circuits is done by using Matlab/Simulink software. The synthesized staircase wave form is shown and total harmonic distortion (THD) is also measured.

Abstract

Thanks to the success of smart phones and mobile-ready laptops, data traffic has recently grown exponentially, and the demand for mobile data has risen very dramatically. These requests in large capacity can only be satisfied by a high efficiency and a very good optimization of the infrastructures of the mobile networks, while taking into account the constraints which are the power, bandwidth and a limited complexity. The task of developing mobile technologies has also evolved from a national or regional focus to a complex and growing mission, supported by global standards development organizations such as 3GPP (3rd Group Partnership Project). Through this research, we present everything related to the simulation of the 4G mobile network system (LTE), which can provide high data flow with good quality, through three model channels known as (EPA, EVA, ETU). In this work we focus on the block ‘iterative decoding channel encoder’ in the LTE system, where the iterative channel coding called ‘Turbo-code’ (TC) is substituted by the iterative coding channel called ‘Unpunctured Turbo Trellis-coded Modulation’ (UTTCM). The simulation results showed that with less decoding complexities, UTTCM's LTE system gives good performance (in terms of BER).
