Abstract

A novel wavelet-based efficient hyperspectral image compression scheme for low memory sensors has been proposed. The proposed scheme uses the 3D dyadic wavelet transform to exploit intersubband and intrasubband correlation among the wavelet coefficients. By doing the reconstruction of the transform image cube, taking the difference between the frames, it increases the coding efficiency, reduces the memory requirement and complexity of the hyperspectral compression schemes in comparison with other state-of-the-art compression schemes.

Abstract

Due to increasing demand on electrical energy in Iraq and to have clean energy that is environmental friendly, wind energy would be one of the most important and promising sources of renewable energy to achieve this goal. This paper discussed the reasons to use the Doubly-Feed Induction Generator (DFIG) amongst the available types of wind turbine generators, and in section (4) illustrate Motivations to select place to the wind farm construction. using decupling method (the vector control strategy) to change reactive power of DFIG 2MW connected to middle of the 132KV transmission line (Karbala north – Alahkader) without effect about the active power generated from DFIG itself with fixed wind speed value assumed to provide the voltage regulation, and control of the transmission line In addition to power generating. By using PSCAD/EMTDC, different simulation results are presented based on various scenarios.

Abstract

The major challenge in designing wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is to resolve the limitation of energy and transmission capacity.  Data compression, as an effective solution, is attracted many attentions. In this paper, a survey is done on the strategies and techniques for data compression in WSNs. And the data compression schemes are divided into two classes: classical methods and the potential technique based on compressed sensing. The basic procedures of each method are further analyzed, and the existing problems are also highlighted. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i11.3507

Abstract

In this paper, aim at the disadvantages of standard Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm like being trapped easily into a local optimum, we improves the standard PSO and proposes a new algorithm to solve the overcomes of the standard PSO. The new algorithm keeps not only the fast convergence speed characteristic of PSO, but effectively improves the capability of global searching as well. Experiment results reveal that the proposed algorithm can find better solutions when compared to the standard particle swarm optimization algorithm. We use the proposed algorithm for digital circuit optimization design, and the final circuit is optimized in terms of complexity (with the minimum number of gates). DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2135

Abstract

Flood is one of the most common hazards in Malaysia. Flood effects can be local, or very large, affecting the neighborhood or community and entire river basins. This flood develops slowly; sometimes over a period of days while sometimes develop quickly in just few minutes. With the real time flood information, it will allow public safety organizations and other emergency managers to effectively plan their resource deployment within the limited time of alert. Hence, this project aims to design the solar powered flood alert warning system by using solar energy as the power supply. This system will send message using GSM to the residents to notify them about the flood occurred. In this project, three LEDs were used to indicate the height of the water levels which are safe, alert and danger conditions. Each of the height have different water level that indicates the level of safety for each condition.

Abstract

We present in this paper a study on the thermal behavior of a square micro coil that will be integrated in a DC-DC micro converter. The first, we calculate the value of inductance. The second, we descript our micro coil; dimensioning, electrical model, and formula of loss. A buck micro converter schematic simulation coupled with ideal and integrated micro coil was presented. This conceptual model of the buck is best understood in terms of the relation between current and voltage of the inductor. Finely, we determinate a mathematical expression giving the evolution of temperatures in an integrated micro coil using the separation of variables method and a visualization of the thermal behavior is determined in 2D and 3D space dimension using the finite element method. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v14i2.7361

Abstract

The suspension and the car's operating stability are closely linked. Through the optimization of the suspension, it can improve the operating stability of vehicle, which is very meaningful to enhance the performance of modern cars. With the development of science and technology, the traditional optimization methods often appear insufficient when it deals with the multi-objective optimization problem of the automotive suspension. As a kind of improved genetic algorithm, the multi-island genetic algorithm can handle the multi-objective problem very well. In order to improve the vehicle handling stability, in this paper, the multi-island genetic algorithm is used to optimize the suspension parameters, combined with the iSight-FD and the Adams/car. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i7.1563

Abstract

Machine learning approaches are progressively successful in image based analysis such as different diseases prediction as well as level of risk assessment. In this paper, image based data analysis with machine learning technique was applied to fertilizer treatment of maize. We address this issue as our country depend on agricultural field rather than others. Maize has a bright future. To predict fertilizer treatment of maize dataset was comprised of ground coverage region which highlights the green pixels of a maize image. For calculating green pixels from an image we used “Can Eye” tool. The achievement of machine learning approaches is highly dependent on quality and quantity of the dataset which is used for training the machine for better classification result. For this perseverance, we have collected images from the maize field directly. Then processed those images and classified the data into four classes (Less Nitrogen=-N, Less Phosphorus=-P, Less Potassium=-K and NPK) to train our machine using decision tree algorithm to predict fertilizer treatment. We have got 93% classification accuracy for decision tree. Finally, the outcome of this paper is fertilizer treatment of a maize field based on the ground cover percentage, and we implemented this whole paper work using an android platform because of the availability of android mobile phone throughout the world.
