It has been observed that there are sustained electrical potential difference and current between a tree trunk and its surrounding soil, which have bright application prospects for powering wireless sensor networks in forests. But the mechanism of the bioelectricity has remained controversial. In order to provide more comprehensive data for further researches and to analyze the relationship between the bioelectricity in tree trunks and their surrounding environmental parameters, an experiment has been made. The output power of selected trees, xylem pH, as well as the environmental parameters such as air temperature, air relative humidity, soil temperature, soil moisture and soil pH were measured. Results supported the hypothesis that bioelectricity in xylem has a significant relativity with soil pH. Moreover, it was found that air relative humidity, soil temperature and material of electrode affected the bioelectricity in the xylem. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3148

Reduction of dynamic data redundancy in cloud computing is one of the best ways to maintain the storage capacity from being fully utilized. Cloud storage is a part of cloud computing technology which holds a high demand in any organization for reducing the cost of purchasing and maintaining storage infrastructures. Increase in the number of users will require a larger storage capacity for storing their data. Reduction of dynamic data redundancy allows service providers to be energy savvy and minimize maintenance cost. Recent researches focus more on static data nature despite its limited capability as compared to dynamic data characteristic in cloud storage. Therefore, this paper theoretically compares various techniques for reduction of redundant dynamic data in cloud computing and suggests the best technique for completing the task in terms of response time.

Due to the nonlinearity of brushless direct current (BLDC) motor, it is difficult to obtain satisfied control characteristics using proportional integral derivative (PID) controller. A novel adaptive fuzzy control method based on high performance speed control is proposed in this paper, which combines an adaptive parameter adjustment mechanism with fuzzy controller to solve the problems of non-linearity, parameter variations and load excursions that occur in the BLDC motor drive system. The adaptive parameter adjustment mechanism can give better quantization and proportion factors of the fuzzy controller when there are variations in motor parameters or load, hence the fuzzy control rules are changed. The adaptive fuzzy control system is simulated in matlab with the changes of motor parameters and load, the control performance of the traditional PID controller is compared with the adaptive fuzzy controller. The comparison results indicate that the adaptive fuzzy control system has stronger robust and self-adaptive ability, faster response time, and zero overshoot and steady state error, which can satisfy the request of the BLDC motor control system. In this paper, the strategies of linear feedback control for jerk system is considered. These strategies consist of four strategies (ordinary feedback control, dislocated feedback control, speed feedback control, and enhancing feedback control). We propose to combine between these strategies and obtained a better result from this combine. Numerical solution achieved the same results.

The power quality of a low voltage distributed network is vulnerable to the plunge of a large number of distributed power sources, which could be at serious risk due to high circulating current. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes an active power-magnitude and reactive power-frequency droop control scheme for distributed voltage source inverters without a communication line. A novel dynamic virtual resistance control solution is demonstrated to minimize dynamic circulating current based on satisfied output voltage accuracy and stability. Differential and integral terms are added to the droop formulas to enhance the dynamic performance of the inverter and improve the stability for voltage magnitude and frequency. MATLAB simulations show that stable output voltage and small circulating current can be achieved in both grid connected mode and islanding mode by using the proposed scheme. This result is further verified by an experimental testing with two parallel voltage source inverters. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2177

In this paper a design process of a broadband printed monopole antenna using stepped cut at four corners (CSFC) technique is proposed. The CSFC is a technique that four corners a patch (rectangular/square) of planar monopole antennas are cut in order to enhance the impedance bandwidth. The technique can be used to design any different types of planar monopole antenna in specific frequency ranges. Therefore, to become more acquaintance with the CSFC technique an evolution process of single band to broadband antenna is represented. However, the proposed antenna is designed for wireless indoor customer premises equipment (CPE) using the coplanar waveguide (CPW) feeding technique. Moreover, the antenna is simulated using CST software and also fabricated and tested so as to validate the results. The simulated and measured -10 dB reflection bandwidth is 104% (850MHz to 2.7 GHz) to cover GSM (900 and 1800 MHz), WiFi (2.4 GHz) and LTE (2.6 GHz) applications. High efficiency and gain as well as omnidirectional and quasi-omnidirectional of radiation pattern at lower and upper frequencies have been achieved.

In order to reduce the relative intensity noise (RIN) in the interferometric signal of the fiber optic gyroscope (FOG), an adaptive noise subtraction method is presented, which aims to overcome to the drawbacks that the fixed delay time and gain of the digital noise subtraction method. The drawbacks will make the performance of FOG to be degraded greatly in the changing environment. In the paper the adaptive noise subtraction system based on the recursive least squares algorithm (RLS) is formed in FPGA, in which the interferometric signal is regarded as the signal source, and RIN in the free end of the optical fiber coupler of FOG is looked as the noise reference signal. The two critical parameters that minimum delay time and its varying range result from measuring the minimum and maximum delay times of the interferometric signal in a certain temperature range. The off-line and on-line temperature experimental results verify the capability of adapting to the environmental temperature. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3660

Postal addressing information is a crucial issue in any organization for business targets, especially in developed countries. Thus, required to convert postal address data to an absolute value like latitude and longitude coordinates by a procedure called geocoding. In this paper, discuss how to make long coordinates into simple geocode via maps services. Besides, conduct a smartphone application to save the geocode with details information to be a GIS for the future used by end-users. The information includes address name, type, and phone number as well as a small note. The app can search for a particular location like hospitals, schools, restaurants, etc.

Based on ElGamal system, a group-oriented threshold signature and authenticated encryption scheme was put forward. After being signed by a signer group employing threshold signature scheme, the message was transmitted to a particular verifier group, and then the signature was verified through the cooperation of ones from the verifier group with members. Similarly, a general authenticated encryption scheme characterized by joint verification was put forward through integrating threshold signature scheme and message recovery technique together; After being encrypted singed by any ones from a group with members, the message was transmitted to a particular verifier group with members, and then recovered through the cooperation of any ones from the verifier group. The security of this scheme is based on Shamir threshold scheme and ElGamal system. It realized the directional transmission of message between different groups and enjoyed the characteristics of reduced communication load and lowered calculation complexity, etc. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2828

As an important part of overs-peed and fail-safe protection for elevators, the centrifugal elevator overspeed governor is a device for limiting overspeed of elevator cars. This paper researches on the impact of the spring stiffness of the centrifugal block, which plays a key role in the performance of this overspeed governor, on the operation of the over-speed governor. By setting up a mathematical model and further carrying out simulation analysis, this paper researches on the influence of systematic parameters, such as the mass of centrifugal block, the turning radius of the centrifugal block, the amount of spring compression of the centrifugal block, on the spring stiffness of the centrifugal block, and obtains their specific influence relationship.
