Abstract

This work presents a design and development of a remote controller application using an Altera DE2-115 board. A remote controller lighting provides smart technologies make it viable to monitor, control and support users in which can enhance the quality life and promote independent living. Nowadays, to turn on the electrical devices, a user will go to the located switch. It is difficult and required more time to switch on the devices instead of staying at certain location while controlling the switching mode of the devices. Implementing this system, users do not need to have numerous switches in their home to turn on the lights as they can do this digitally from a switchless control located in one place or using a remote controller. The Altera board is built with eighteen slide switches which act as inputs and at the same time it will display the outputs on seven segments, LEDs and LCD display character. As a conclusion, the remote controller lighting system provides convenience and energy efficiency in order to allow the users to control the lighting system using smart devices.

Abstract

The Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) problem have become a focus of many researches on robot navigation. Generally the most widely used filter in SLAM problems are centralized filter. It is well known that SLAM based on conventional centralized filter must reconfigure the entire state vectors when the observation dimension changes, which cause an exponential growth in computation quantities and difficulties in isolate potential faults. In this paper, we proposed improved DPF distributed particle filter-SLAM in two aspects, in DPF-SLAM one centralized filter is divided into several distributed filters which reduce the computation quantities efficiently and avoid the necessary to reconfigure the entire state vectors in every step. First, we improved the important function of the local filters in distributed particle filter. By changed a set constant in the important function to an adaptive value, we improved the robustness of the system. Second, we propose an information fusion method that mixed the innovation method and the number of effective particles method, which combined the advantages of these two methods. The result of simulations shows that the algorithms we proposed improved the virtue of the DPF-SLAM system in isolate faults and enabled the system has a better tolerance and robustness.  DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3683

Abstract

There is an increasing focus on utilizing the renewable energy resources, especially solar energy as the fossils are expected to deplete in near future. Solar Photovoltaics have remained of particular interest because of their relative lower overall efficiencies .Most researchers are trying to enhance the overall performance of Solar Photovoltaic and trying to study factor that may possible lead to an increase in the overall performance of a Solar Photovoltaic Panels. A thorough investigation was carried out to study the influence of solar power and solar flux on the performance parameters of Photovoltaic (Polycrystalline). The data used in the research was obtained by in-situ measurement approach using an SM206 precision digital solar power meter, a digital solar flux meter, and an M890C+ digital Multimeter. The result obtained shows an interesting correlation for current, efficiency and solar power as well as for solar flux which indicates that high solar power and solar flux positively enhances the performance of the photovoltaic. The results also reveal that once the solar power or solar flux reaching the photovoltaic exceeds 200W/m2 or 20Klux, the voltage from the photovoltaic approaches maximum and remains fairly stable irrespective of the amount of solar power or solar flux reaching the photovoltaic. The data collected for three months, July, August and September shows prediction efficiency of 87 %, 63% and 71% at 11:30am, 12:30 pm and 10:30 am respectively.

Abstract

Aimed at the problems of low control accuracy and weak robustness influenced by external disturbance, friction, load changes, modeling errors and other issues in ammunition auto-loading robot control system, a new robust adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller based on fuzzy compensation is proposed. The control architecture employs fuzzy systems to compensate adaptively for plant uncertainties to distinguish different disturbance compensation terms and approximate each of them respectively. The stability of the robust adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control (SMC) and the convergence of the tracking errors are ensured by using the Lyapunov theory. By analyzing and comparing the simulation results, it is obviously shown that the control system can lighten the effect on the control system caused by different disturbance factors and eliminate the system chattering instead of traditional SMC. As a result, the control system has great dynamic features and robust stability and meets the requirement that the actual motion of ammunition auto-loading robot quickly tracks the scheduled trajectory. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i4.4342

Abstract

In order to rationalize the site-selection of urban mechanical parking system and relieve the traffic congestion after its completion, this paper proposes a decision method. the attribute data of the site-selection of urban mechanical parking system is established on the basis of the GIS analysis method. Then the relationship between the site-selection and multiple geographical factors are explored by the algorithm for mutual information fuzzy-rough attribute reduction and the Rough Set theory. Finally, the attribute reduction is carried out; thereby, an inductive learning method combined with GIS analysis and deductive reasoning is used to generate the decision trees and decision rules and conduct evaluation and analysis for the site-selection decision. Modeling and simulation for the site-selection of mechanical parking system are put into practice in Lanzhou City. The simulation results show that this method can solve the problem better. It also provides reference for the intelligent transportation system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2843

Abstract

In Wireless Sensor Networks, Mobile Sink accomplishes considerable achievement on network lifetime improvement. In sensing environment, more chances to present the obstacle. But, in the mobile sink, how to identify the obstacle and make the obstacle aware path strategy is a challenging task. To overcome this problem, we propose an Obstacle Aware Mobile sink Path Strategy (OAMPS) that detects any obstacles which enter within the network lifetime and design a shortest mobile sink movement path avoiding detected obstacles. In this scheme, the mobile sink collects the sensing data from the super node then it sends the data to the base station. Here, static or moving obstacles are present when the mobile sink moves the path scheduling by spanning graph. This algorithm is introduced to discovering the obstacle avoiding shortest path. The source selects the route by the updated cuckoo search algorithm. The simulation results show that the OAMPS improved the throughput and minimized the delay in the network.
