Programming courses are among all the current academic curricula for engineering studies. Unfortunately, students often face difficulties already on the basic concepts. Both students and teachers believe that practical sessions and guided learning lead to good outcomes. On the other hand, it is virtually difficult considering the number of students enrolled on programming courses. This paper presents an automated assessment system for programming assignments, based on two different methods: static and dynamic analysis. The presented system aims at providing the student with an ongoing and various feedback delivered according to the category and the recurrence of errors. The system imbeds an automated error repairing feature for the purposes of insuring the assessment process achievement. It operates if the student fails to submit a correct program despite the feed-back provided by the system. In such cases, the system uses a penalty mechanism, customized by the teacher to grade the student’s program. Testing the presented automated system, through assessing real students’ assignments, showed promising results compared to manual assessment.

Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) has been used as the insulation for polymeric power cables for its superior advantages. This type of cable insulation are famously known and used for their good dielectric properties, mechanical properties, thermal properties, and probability to be utilized at high temperature. This study is of four (4) parts; designing suitable method for cable test, accelerated testing procedures applied to XLPE insulation for high voltage cables, online partial discharge determination, and aging test. To study the insulation durability to AC high voltage operation, the breakdown strength and aging were investigated under different setting of temperature. The breakdown voltages of XLPE were measured at different temperatures of 300C, 500C and finally at 700C. Lastly, the aging effect of cable insulation was observed by conducting the AC breakdown voltage test after the aging process. Results showed that the breakdown voltage and aging of XLPE cables will decrease with increase of temperature setting.

To facilitate real-time flow measurement, this paper aims to realize biomass flow sensing through electronic non-contact capacitive means. Hardware implementation has been carried out using a modified OP-AMP-based bridge circuit, with one arm made of a standard capacitance while the other arm is made from two specifically designed capacitive electrodes fitted on a piping system sensing biomass flow. The experimental results are targeted to obtain data for given biomass types through a custom-developed biomass flow piping system. Several flow affecting parameters namely: electrodes’ shapes, the location of electrodes on the piping system, biomass material type, and particle size have been considered in obtaining experimental data. Also, the circuit has been simulated to analyze flow sensing behavior for the proposed technique by evaluating the measurement data and assessing conformity between experimentally obtained and simulated data.

Auromatic inspection system is necessary for reliable quality control if ceramic materials to avoid operator subjectivity and fatigue in visual inspection. Automatic segmentation from material’s image is then the most important process to develop such an inspection system. In this paper, we propose a Possibilistic C-Means pixel clustering algorithm with fuzzy stretching to form the defect object in segmentation. In experiment using 50 images containing a certain amount of defects, the proposed method was successful in 49 cases or 98% of opportunities. That performance is roughly twice better than that of standard K-means clustering in defect object formation Auromatic inspection system is necessary for reliable quality control if ceramic materials to avoid operator subjectivity and fatigue in visual inspection. The increasing use of millimeter wave frequency bands requires a good understanding of the atmospheric channel. In equatorial regions, rain plays the central role in the impairment of millimeter wave propagation. Using large amounts of precise data collected by a two-dimensional video distrometer in Malaysia, the rain-specific attenuation of both vertically and horizontally polarized waves at the 38 GHz frequency was computed by applying the T-matrix technique. Good agreement is observed between these computations and fitted power law models from neighboring areas, but the ITU-R Recommendation P.838-3 significantly underestimates the rain-specific attenuation. The importance of including raindrop axial ratio in the calculation is revealed by differences among the local fitted coefficients for the vertically polarized estimations. The power law fit is provided, and the measurement is verified.

The real-life construction of examination timetabling problem is considered as a common problem that always encountered and experienced in educational institution whether in school, college, and university. This problem is usually experienced by the academic management department where they have trouble to handle complexity for assign examination into a suitable timeslot manually. In this paper, an algorithm approach of ant colony optimisation (ACO) is presented to find an effective solution for dealing with Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) examination timetabling problems. A combination of heuristic with ACO algorithm contributes the development solution in order to simplify and optimize the pheromone occurrence of matrix updates which include the constraints problem. The implementation of real dataset instances from academic management is applied to the approach for generating the result of examination timetable. The result and performance that obtained will be used for further use to evaluate the quality and observe the solution whether our examination timetabling system is reliable and efficient than the manual management that can deal the constraints problem.

Nowadays, bandwidth utilization is a very challenging task for Subscriber Stations (SS) to predict a large amount of data. The existing techniques allow the SS to maintain the occupied bandwidth via risk of failure which does not satisfy the quality of services (QoS) needs. Another challenge is the resource handling with QoS. In Web technology life, there is only few research focused on tackling the resource handling issues with different techniques. Current methods do not consider the data interchange during route switching. To offer the best solution of above problems, An Efficient Bandwidth Utilization based Scheduling (EBS) Algorithm is designed to maintain proper bandwidth utilization in a real-time application. The EBS algorithm predicts the amount of bandwidth which should be requested according to backlogged traffic data. It’s also considering the data rate divergence between a packet received and transmissions in a queue to improve the bandwidth. The main objective of proposed design is to permits other complementary station (CS) and SSs to bring out the unutilized bandwidth by the availability of SS transmission. The unutilized bandwidth is not possible to get regularly. The proposed method is more flexible to apply in real time and research-oriented applications. The methods enhance the bandwidth utilization during maintenance of the same QoS guaranteed network services. A proposed method avoids the current bandwidth reservation collapse at the time of the same QoS guaranteed services. The techniques permit SSs to find out the portion of un-utilized bandwidth accurately. Based on Experimental evaluations, proposed algorithm reduces 21.26 PLR (Packet Loses Ratio), 3.25 AD (Average Delay), and improves 8.65 BU (Bandwidth Utilization) and 51.2% (Throughput) compared than existing methods.

Adapting users need to fulfill their requirements and delivering products to be on time within the planned cost, is critical matter that all software project managers (SPM) put the highest priority for it while considering the users satisfaction at the same time. Agile methodology is one of the solutions provided by software engineers (SE), to get the customers involved in the system development life cycle (SDLC) to avoid the risk nonconformance cost. Yet SPM’s still facing the nonconformance costs and the dynamic changes, and the root cause of the issue is not pointed on to find a solution for it. This undertaking research aimed at determining whether software developers understand scrum rules. In addition, how does this knowledge gab affect the software projects success from the project management perspective. Furthermore, the engagement studied the impact of lack of enough knowledge on the topic to project delivery. The collected data from the qualitative and quantitative methods, which was conducted with scrum teams who worked in the health information system (HIS), Educational solutions, and Governmental solutions has showed deviations in organizational practices and team conflicting, competition, and pressure as well as declined product quality.
