Abstract

In Malaysia, banana is a top fruit production which contribute to the economy growth in agriculture field. Hence, it is significant to have a quality production of banana and important to detect the plant diseases at the early stage. There are many types of banana leaf diseases such as Banana Mosaic, Black Sigatoka and Yellow Sigatoka. These three diseases are related to color changes at banana. This research paper is an experiment based and need to identify the best color feature extraction method to classify banana leaf diseases. Total of 48 banana leaf images that are used in this research paper. Four types of color feature extraction methods which are color histogram, color moment, hue, saturation, and value (HSV) histogram and color auto correlogram are experimented to determine the best method for banana leaf diseases classification. While for the classifiers, support vector machine (SVM) and k-Nearest neighbors (k-NN) are used to evaluate the performance and accuracy of each color feature extraction methods. There are also preliminary experiments to identify accurate parameters to use during classification for both classifiers. Our experimental result express that HSV histogram is the best method to classify banana leaf diseases with 83.33% of accuracy and SVM classifier perform better compared to k-NN.

Abstract

This paper proposes a novel approach based on the NSCE (elitist non dominated sorting cross entropy), for the optimization of the location and the size of a flexible AC transmission system device (FACTS) namely: unified power flow controller (UPFC) to achieve the optimal reactive power flow (ORPF). In the present work, the main objective is to minimize the real power losses, the cost investment of several UPFC and the deviation voltages using intelligent algorithms. The proposed study is multiobjective, in which, the power generator buses, the control voltages, the ratio tap changer of transformers and the reactive power injections from installed UPFC are considered as control variables. The proposed NSCE algorithm is validated on IEEE 30-bus test system. A comparison with elitist non dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) and a regularity model-based multiobjective estimation of distribution algorithm (RM-MEDA) is done and completed with hybridization of them.

Abstract

Lifting petroleum to the surface requires a mechanism called an artificial lift. This mechanism is useful for increasing the flow of fluids from a well. One that uses this method is the rod pump. The rod pump system needed the appropriate design (through the determination of the value of the parameters that affect) so that the pump runs optimally. But changing the appropriate design in real terms is not economically and time-efficient. The ideal rod pump system analysis procedure is to take downhole data (in the well) which is commonly called a pump card. A pump card calculation simulation is needed to efficiently analyze the rod pump system. The wave equation can describe the model of the rod pump system. A simulation of pump data calculation is performed using the finite difference method for the wave equation solution. Through the process of tuning parameter values using trial and error methods, the steps of tuning the parameter value of the rod pump system are proposed in this paper. For further research, a pump card calculation method based on a surface card can be developed to efficiently analyze the rod pump.

Abstract

In this paper a general overview of the vulnerability of the CAN bus is presented and a practical short-range attack is proposed. There are more and more potential attacks on the CAN bus, which may cause leakage of information and thereby there may be danger for safe driving. The attack combines several techniques, such as how to update a node firmware using a Bluetooth module and inject a priority fake frame, in order to block the legitimate messages.

Abstract

The mismatch between the transformer and its model leads to deviation of the results during the study of the different abnormal phenomena. This paper presents an optimization technique using transformer nameplate data to minimize the difference in the estimation of the parameters between the model and the actual transformer data. The turbulent flow of water through a narrow path (TFWO) in a circular form technique is used for the optimization of the transformer parameters. The optimization algorithms are used in extracting the parameters of the different rating of transformers, this technique needs an objective function for performing the optimization process. Minimizing the sum of square error (SSE) is the objective function of the optimizer technique. The SSE function includes the summation of the square error for the primary current and secondary current and voltage referring to the primary. The proposed optimization transformer parameters evaluation based on the nameplate data is accurate and fulfilled compared with the other methods.

Abstract

This research paper proposes a methodology to apply identification methods to find a simplified model of three different governors in a single area electric power system (SAEPS). A SAEPS with different governors-turbine is presented: a hydraulic turbine, a steam turbine and a steam reheat turbine. In this same investigation, an analytic reduction has been performed, a fifth order system was found analytically, thus a transfer function equivalent to the three different governor-turbine elements was obtained, this equivalent transfer function models the complete behavior of the three devices. Two systems identification (SI) algorithms have been proposed to apply them to this generic subspace state-space (N4SID) and generalized poisson moment functionals (GPMF) electrical system, these presented similar results. The results of the performance and simulation analysis exhibit that using the SI technique, fifth, fourth and third-order systems were obtained that graphically show a very small estimation error compared to the original signal, this fact could be check simulating the simplified models using the same input-output data. The results are presented in a table that shows a comparison of the model respond the fifth, fourth, third and second-order systems.

Abstract

In today's competitive world, robot designs are developed to simplify and improve quality wherever necessary. The rise in technology and modernization has led people from the unskilled sector to shift to the skilled sector. The agricultural sector's solution for harvesting fruits and vegetables is manual labor and a few other agro bots that are expensive and have various limitations when it comes to harvesting. Although robots present may achieve harvesting, the affordability of such designs may not be possible by small and medium-scale producers. The integrated robot system is designed to solve this problem, and when compared with the existing manual methods, this seems to be the most cost-effective, efficient, and viable solution. The robot uses deep learning for image detection, and the object is acquired using robotic manipulators. The robot uses a Cartesian and articulated configuration to perform the picking action. In the end, the robot is operated where carrots and cantaloupes were harvested. The data of the harvested crops are used to arrive at the conclusion of the robot's accuracy.

Abstract

An integrated approach to the creation and development of innovative startup projects in the field of information technology is considered. To conduct research, the authors proposed a model of information cycles of startup projects based on the creation of an information model of such projects. At the same time there are dynamic processes of changes in the parameters of the model, which are turbulent in nature and require the use of tools and methods of artificial intelligence for research. The key areas of knowledge of such influence are defined. The mathematical model of processes of management of development of IT startups on the basis of creation and development of a difficult IT product, taking into account influences of environments of the project is constructed, the basic characteristics are allocated and parameters are defined. To do this, the construction of predictive models is proposed to be carried out by modified Demarc trends, the method of self-organization and the neural network. The modeling of the main objective functions of the mathematical model of these processes is performed. The analysis of the received results is carried out and the conclusions are made.

Abstract

The core of a typical hydroelectric power plant is the turbine. Vibration and overheating in a turbine occur when water flows through it, and with increased vibration and high temperature, it will cause the turbine blade to break. In this study, the control and monitoring system is designed to predict and avoid any error before it occurs. This process is achieved by measuring vibration and temperature using sensors and sending signals through the Arduino to the graphical user interfaces (GUI), the system compares the signals taken from the sensors with the permissible limits, and when the permissible limits are exceeded, the processor takes appropriate measures to open and close the turbine gates, where the data is displayed in matrix laboratory graphical user interfaces (MATLAB’s GUI) screen. In this way, monitoring is done, and the appropriate action are taken to avoid mistakes.

Abstract

Early warning of floods is an essential part of disaster management. Various automatic detectors have been developed in flood mitigation, including cameras. But reliability and accuracy have not been improved. Besides, the use of monitoring devices has been employed to monitor water levels in various water building facilities. The early warning flood detector was carried out with a sensor camera using an orange ball that floats near the water level gauge in a bounding box. This approach uses the integration of computer vision and image processing, namely digital image processing techniques, with Sobel Canny edge detection (SCED) algorithms to detect quickly and accurately water levels in real-time. After the water level is measured, a flood detection process is carried out based on the specified water level. According to the results of experiments in the laboratory, it has been shown that the proposed approach can detect objects accurately and fast in real-time. Besides, from the water level detection experiment, good results were obtained. Therefore, the object detection system and water level can be used as an efficient and accurate early detection system for flood disasters.
