Abstract

This paper presents, wavelet based de-noising technique for on-site partial discharge (PD) measurement signal. The signal is measured from medium voltage power cable at 11 kV distribution substation. The best mother wavelet, decomposition level and the type of threshold for the de-noising technique are selected based on the signal to noise ratio (SNR) aggregation. The SNR aggregation is determined based on the minimum, maximum, mean and standard deviation parameters.   The same standard de-noising procedure is applied for two different PD signals and the selection parameters are done based on the accuracy of de-noising analysis. The analysis is performed in MATLAB software environment and Daubechies 2 (db2) is found as the best mother wavelet at tenth decomposition levels with soft threshold type. This study is specifically performed to develop the de-noising procedure for on-site PD measurement. Overall results indicate that the right selection of the de-noising procedure will help to improve the PD signal detection from on–site measurement.

Abstract

This paper introduced a kind of new method for color tongue image segmentation by improving random walk algorithm. Firstly, we introduced an improved toboggan algorithm which adopted new classification rules to classify a image into initial regions. Secondly, we built a weighted-graph according to initial regions in which only those adjacent regions were connected. Thirdly, we adopted random walk algorithm to segment images by newly designed weight function. Fourthly, we used mathematical morphology operations to remove small holes on the target region of the segment result of the third step. In the experiment, we compared our method with traditional random walk algorithm. And as the experiment results show, our method achieves basically ideal effects, which are much better than those of traditional random walk image segmentation algorithm. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i6.5390

Abstract

The background of this paper is the warehouse target localization and tracking system which is composed of a number of wireless sensor nodes. Firstly this paper established a model of warehouse target localization and tracking system, then a model of multi-sensor data preprocessing and data fusion was established, and self-adaptive linear recursive method was used to eliminate outliers of the original measured data. Then least squares fitting filter was used to do filtering and denoising for the measured data. In the end, the data which were measured by multi-sensor can be fused by Kalman Filtering algorithm. Data simulation analysis shows that the use of kalman filtering algorithm for the fusion of the data measured by multi-sensor is to obtain more accurate warehouse target location data, so as to increase the positioning and tracking accuracy of the warehouse target localization and tracking system.Key Words:Wireless Sensor Network,Data Fusion,Kalman Filtering DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2195

Abstract

A low-complexity detection scheme, which consists of a Hybrid Micro Genetic Algorithm (Hybrid- µGA), is proposed for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In the absence of orthogonality, intercarrier-interference (ICI) occurs because a signal from one subcarrier causes interference to others. In several environment, the OFDM signal reflections from a far obstacle generate inter-block-interference (IBI) due to long time delays. To avoid these unpleasant effects of IBI and ICI in OFDM system, a Hybrid-µGA detection algorithm is proposed. The proposed detector combines the conventional one-Tap equalizer and the Micro Genetic Algorithm (µGA) search engine. The output of one-Tap equalizer is considered as the input to µGA search engine. Therefore, the µGA starts with some knowledge rather than blindly to speed up the search. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed detection Hybrid- µGA scheme substantially improves the performance of OFDM systems. Moreover, its complexity is 10 times lower than the conventional GA.

Abstract

Boost converters of high gain are used for photo voltaic systems to obtain high efficiency. These high gain Boost converters gives increased output voltage for a low input produces high outputs for low input voltage. The High gain boost converters have the following merits. Conduction losses input current ripple and stress across the switches is reduced while the efficiency is increases. The high gain of the converters with the above said merits is obtained by changing the duty cycle of switches accordingly .In this paper a boost converter working with interleaved concept along with a additional Nstage voltage Multiplier has been carried out by simulation using MATLAB/ simulink and the mathematical modeling of various parameters is also done.

Abstract

Recently, researchers have shown an increased interest in renewable energy sources (RESs) to improve power quality, reliability and stability of the power system. However, RESs require proper control strategies to ride through grid disturbances and stay connected to the main grid for the stability contribution. Moreover, the control of them relies mainly on the synchronization algorithms to precisely detect the voltage phase angle, magnitude and frequency. Throughout the years, various synchronization schemes have been introduced and developed. In the renewable-based generation sources, the phase-locked loop (PLL) is a well-known technique for operating grid-tied power converters for the estimation of the synchronization information and grid voltage monitoring. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of the recently developed PLL algorithms for grid synchronization applications. At first, various estimation techniques are discussed. Then, a comparison between various PLLs and possible future works are recommended.

Abstract

This paper presents a dynamic Web service composition algorithm based on description logic. Firstly, each input or output of the Web service request is regarded as a concept of description logic and according to the semantic similarity between concepts given the five types of description logic, we study on the dynamic composition algorithm based on service. Because the factors of service semantics and quality of service composition are considered, the algorithm can automatically implement dynamic composition according to the user's service request. Because of using the expression ability of semantic description logic, when Web service is combined the algorithm can determine whether the service can be combined according to thesemantic relationship between concepts, thus the probability of successful combination can be improved. DOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i1.3536

Abstract

Many ID-based strong designated verifier signature schemes have been proposed in recent years. However, most of them did not give the rigorous security proofs and did not satisfy the strongness property that anyone except the designated verifier can not check the validity of a designated verifier signature, In addition, considering some special applications, these schemes have larger data size of communication. To overcome those problems, exploiting message recovery techniques which are regarded as a useful method to shorten ID-based signatures' size, we put forward an efficient ID-based strong designated verifier signature schemes with message recovery and give its rigorous security proof in the random oracle model based on the hardness assumptions of the computational Bilinear Diffie-Hellman problem in this paper. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first ID-based strong designated verifier signature schemes with message recovery and rigorous security proofs. Due to its merits, it can be used in some special environments where the bandwidth is one of the main concerns, such as PDAs, cell phones, RFID etc.

Abstract

Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is used by many applications on the Internet for the reliable data transmission. TCP does not able to utilize the available link bandwidth quickly and efficiently in High bandwidth short distance (HBSD) and high bandwidth long distance (HBLD) networks. Many congestion control techniques also known as TCP variants are developed to solve these problems in different network environments. In this paper an experimental analysis is done for the performance evaluation of TCP CUBIC, TCP Compound, TCP Reno and High speed TCP in term of Inter and Intra Protocol fairness by using Network Simulator 2 (NS-2). Results show that the performance of TCP CUBIC pathetically down and TCP Compound and TCP Reno shows good performance in term of protocol fairness. However, these congestion control techniques still need more improvement for the utilization of available link bandwidth in HBLD networks and other network resources.

Abstract

Modern steel grades require constant and reproducible production conditions both in the hot strip mill and in the cooling section to achieve constant material properties along the entire strip length and from strip to strip. Calculation of the temperature in final rolling process always utilizes factors such as the work piece's inner organizational structure, plastic deformation, and it's variations of properties and so on, also as well as the physical parameters such as gauge, shape, etc. In this paper, a finite element model is constructed for the temperature field in a rolling process. The temperature field of strip steel is modeled with a 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) structure, simultaneously considering the distribution of the work roll temperature. Then the distribution of field is simulated numerically. From the model, the temperature contours can be obtained by analysis of the temperature distribution of contact area. At the same time, the distribution of temperature in any position at any time can be acquired. These efforts provide the reliable parameters for the later finishing temperature and shape control. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i7.2845
