Abstract

IEEE 802.11-power save mode (PSM) independent basic service set (IBSS) Save, the time is divided into intervals of the signals. At the beginning of each interval signal and power saving alarm periodically all open windows (vocals). Abstract

People are still using paper money for daily transaction; this, however, will expose some difficulty for visually impaired people. Though they can still read the nominal value of the paper money by the other people or feel the tactile feature, they cannot depend upon others all the time and the tactile feature does not work well if the paper money is worn out. Some alternatives have been proposed and conducted. One of them is using money value recognition application. The application will recognize nominal value of paper money comparing the image of the paper with database. This process is using a feature extraction algorithm called ORB feature descriptor. It has been used for six (6) different types of currencies that are 5 most traded currencies and Indonesia currency and also for different types of nominals (bills).

Abstract

Electrical energy is important and had been demand increasingly. A lot of energy resources have been wasted and exhausted. An alternative way to generate electricity by using a population of human had been discovered When walking, the vibration that generates between the surface and the footstep is wasted. By utilizing this wasted energy, the electrical energy can be generated and fulfill the demand. The transducer that use to detect the vibration is a piezoelectric transducer. This transducer converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy. When the pressure from the footstep is applied to the piezoelectric transducer, it will convert the pressure or the force into the electrical energy. The piezoelectric transducer is connected in series-parallel coonection. Then, it is placed on the tile that been made from wood as a model for footstep tile to give pressure to the piezoelectric transducers. This tile can be placed in the crowded area, walking pavement or exercise instruments. The electric energy that generates from this piezoelectric tile can be power up low power appliances.

Abstract

This paper describes a multilevel Z-source inverter for solar photovoltaic applications. The conventional power conversion topology performs either buck or boost the input voltage for non linear load depending upon duty ratio and modulation index in a multiple stage conversion with the help of impedance source passive network (L and C), which is usually known as Z-Source, which couples the n level source with input to the power source and increase the power efficiency. The multilevel z network capabilities of inverter are operated in the shoot through state of duty cycle and it acts as a filter to reduces the level of harmonics, stabilize power factor and to increase the output AC voltage range of inverter. To overcome further harmonics, multilevel level operation z source inverter compensates the fundamental level of harmonic in renewable. Proposed work as a whole involves the simulation part to design multilevel inverter. The output of the simulation is obtained by Simulink model using MATLAB.

Abstract

This paper presents an improved LEACH protocol to save energy and enhance network security for wireless sensor networks. All nodes are distributed evenly in sensing area. The sensing area is divided into a number of small squares called cells, and a cluster consists of four cells. The cluster structure does not change in whole network lifetime. A cell head is chosen in each cell and a cluster head is selected from four cell heads in each cluster. The data are transmitted from clusters to the base station by employing the multi-hop manner. All nodes that communicate each other establish pairwise keys. Analysis demonstrates that the new routing protocol saves more node energy, distributes energy consumption to all nodes more evenly, prolongs more lifetime for WSNs than the LEACH protocol dose. Abstract

The variable and non-dispatchable output of wind farms brings great difficulty to the quantitative analysis of the economic operation for peak shaving of power system integrated with high penetration of wind power. For the random nature of wind power, the paper establishes a peak shaving capacity requirement model for wind power. Based on the peak shaving capacity requirement model for wind power, a model for economy evaluation of peak shaving of power system with a high penetration of wind power is proposed. The model makes it possible to quantitatively analyze the influences of wind power integration on the peak shaving capacity requirement and operation economy. The case studies were carried out for a system, and the results verified the effectiveness and accuracy of the presented model. Abstract

Achieving a robust obstacle detection system for small UAV is very challenging. Due to size and weight constraints, very limited detection sensors can be equipped in the system. Prior works focused on a single sensing device which is either camera or range sensors based. However, these sensors have their own advantages and disadvantages in detecting the appearance of the obstacles. In this paper, combination of both sensors based is proposed for a small UAV obstacle detection system. A small Lidar sensor is used as the initial detector and queue for image capturing by the camera. Next, SURF algorithm is applied to find the obstacle sizes estimation by searching the connecting feature points in the image frame. Finally, safe avoidance path for UAV is determined through the exterior feature points from the estimated width of the obstacle. The proposed method was evaluated by conducting experiments in real time with indoor environment. In the experiment conducted, we successfully detect and determine a safe avoidance path for the UAV on 6 different sizes and textures of the obstacles including textureless obstacles.

Abstract

Weather severity has unfavorable effect on FSO transmission performance. The impact could result in poor quality of transmission and communication failure. This paper presents the analysis using multiple free space optic channels with amplification to mitigate haze attenuation. The visibility is progressively reduced due to the attenuation effects, causing the bit error rate to increase. Three designs of FSO system are proposed in this research as they are simulated and analysed thoroughly using Optisys software. The achieved result shows improved performance for Design 3, as the minimum BER achieved is 10-127 when the power received is -26 dBm, and maximum Q-factor of 23.6 at the aperture diameter of 40 cm. It is proved to improve the system efficiently in low visibility condition compared to Design 1 and Design 2. It clearly has shown the superior capabilities of Design 3 to intercept and mitigate the atmospheric attenuation in haze condition as the power loss during transmission also reduced significantly.

Abstract

This paper presents a study on parent’s acceptance on wearable technology for children’s safety. Recently, there are many applications of wearable technology used in ensuring children’s safety, such as GPS tracking devices that are seen to be related to the safety of the children. However, the Malaysian parents have not been using these technologies to protect their children due to lack of knowledge on the wearable technology, non-familiarity with the devices, privacy and also security concern of data in wearable technology. Thus, the objective of the present research is to identify the significant factors that influence parents’ acceptance on wearable technology for their children’s safety and to identify the greatest influence factors for the acceptance of these wearable technologies for children’s safety. These factors are expected to bring about usefulness, ease of use, trust, privacy risk, financial risk and intention to use these technologies. As such, quantitative survey method was employed in the present study to obtain the result for the factors acceptance. The analysis and findings were done using IBM SPSS Version 25 tools via Pearson Correlation Analysis and Multiple Linear Regressions to get the result for the acceptance and to achieve the research objectives. Based on the result, it is discovered that the factors significant to intention to use of the wearable technology are perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and trust while privacy and financial risk are factors seen to be non-significant to intention to use the wearable technology. Lastly, trust is discovered to be the greatest factor influencing parents to accept wearable technology and intention to use the technology. However, it is recommended for further study to employ experimental method in carrying out the research in order to get the real trust feeling of intention to use the wearable technology.
