Abstract

Microgrids are the solution to the growing demand for energy in the recent times. It has the potential to improve local reliability, reduce cost and increase penetration rates for distributed renewable energy generation. Inclusion of Renewable Energy Systems (RES) which have become the topic of discussion in the recent times due to acute energy crisis, causes the power flow in the microgrid to be bi-directional in nature. The presence of the RES in the microgrid system causes the grid to be reconfigurable. This reconfiguration might also occur due to load or utility grid connection and disconnection. Thus conventional protection strategies are not applicable to micro-grids and is hence challenging for engineers to protect the grid in a fault condition. In this paper various Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) algorithms are applied in microgrids to identify the active nodes of the current topology of the network in a heuristic approach and thereby generating a tree from the given network so that minimum number of nodes have to be disconnected from the network during fault clearance. In the paper we have chosen the IEEE-39 and IEEE-69 bus networks as our sample test systems.

Abstract

Electromyography (EMG) is the measure of electrical activity produced by skeletal muscle. It is useful in prosthetic and rehabilitation technology as well as ability to handle electronic devices and robotics. If the EMG signal from the body especially hand movement can be apprehended, better value for people all around the world can be provided. Furthermore, it can be used to control smart-phone and be integrated with wearable technology. Another interesting application of this technology is in sign language recognition which is able to assist many disabled people in their daily lives. In this paper, hand gesture signals are acquired, extracted, analysed and classified. The EMG data from hand gesture which are rock, paper and scissors managed to be extracted. We use time domain feature to classified using Principal Component Analysis and regression tree. The result was highly accurate with 72.59% and 80.85% for PCA and regression tree respectively.

Abstract

This paper will analyze new improved charging scheme with base price, quality premium and QoS networks involved. Sain and Herpers [5] already attempted to obtain revenue maximization by creating charging scheme of internet. The plan is attempted to solve multiple service networks scheme as an optimization model to obtain revenue maximization using our improved model based on [2] and [5]. Abstract

In this paper, a parameterized transient finite element model for permanent magnet (PM) dimension analysis and performance simulation of a V-shape interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) with 8 poles is developed. The relationships between induced electromotive force (EMF) and PM dimension, cogging torque and PM dimension are analyzed; the geometries of PM structure are optimized by performing response surface methodology (RSM); a new type of flux-barrier is designed to weaken the flux leakage, and the performances of the sample IPMSM are simulated. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3745

Abstract

According to the particularity of the restoration project of using freezing method to conduct shaft-forming well wall, the monitoring of the conventional hydrological hole and thermometer hole, new means of detection are added, and distributed fiber temperature detection technology is used to check the temperature of each longitudinal freezer. The principle, composition, detection method and temperature measuring optical cable structure of the distributed fiber temperature detection system are introduced in detail. Field measured data is given, which has large data size and can reflect the actual development status of freezing wall comprehensively and intuitively compared with the traditional thermometer hole data. Data analysis provides the basis for guiding the freeze construction being carried out safely and smoothly. Abstract

Along with the science and technology unceasing progress, the uses of tracing robots become more and more widely. Tracked tracing robot was adopted as the research object in this paper, mechanical structure and control system of robot was designed and developmented. In mechanical structure design part, structure designed and positioned  were completed, including design of robot body, wheel, underpan, transmission structure and the positioning of batteries, control panel, sensors, etc, and then robot dynamics was analyzed; In control section, M30245 was used as the core, according to the characteristics of tracked tracing robot differential drive, realization scheme of motion control system was put forward, system drive circuit, detection module, control program were developed. System were discussed and checked through test. Abstract

E-Carnet Resumption and Repository System for Bus Line Commuters is an ongoing venture which is very useful for the passengers. Resumption can be done using any two id proof and using credit card for paying money. This online bus pass Resumption application will help people to save their time and repository the bus passes without standing in a line for hours near counters. At first individuals need to enlist with the application by submitting points of interest of photograph, address proof, any two id verification and required subtle elements and submit through on the web. The application will verify the details and if all proves are verified then followed by transaction will be held. After that the pass will automatically generating and send it through mail. You can even repository using credit card or wire transfer methods.  This system can be used in bus transport undertaking services. Using the system in government and private sectors can exclude the use of human efforts and saves lot of money and time. This system also used to finding the route for Different places. The route information updates admin control so user trusts the valid paths. User locations are tracking using GPS tracker.

Abstract

It is well-known that financial time series exhibits changing variance and this can have important consequences in formulating economic or financial decisions. In much recent evidence shows that volatility of financial assets is not constant, but rather that relatively volatile periods alternate with more tranquil ones. Thus, there are many opportunities to obtain forecasts of this time-varying risk. The paper presents the modelling volatility of the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) using SV and GARCH models.  Thus, the aim of this study is to model the KLCI stock market using two models; Stochastic Volatility (SV) and Generalized Auto-Regressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (GARCH). This study employs an SV model with Bayesian approach and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampler; and GARCH model with MLE estimator. The best model will be used to forecast the future volatility of stock returns. The study involves 971 daily observations of KLCI Closing price index, from 2 January 2008 to 10 November 2016, excluding public holidays. SV model is found to be the best based on the lowest RMSE and MAE values.

Abstract

This paper proposed a robust chaos control scheme for surface permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) drive system considering the uncertain parameters and external disturbances. A nonlinear time delay estimator is utilized to estimate the nonlinearities, uncertain parameters and disturbances of the system on line, so it is not necessarily required the exact model of the system. Then, based on the time delay estimator, a simple feedback controller, which is only related to the system errors and control input, is simple and easy to be constructed. The control gains can be obtained easily using pole placement method. The stability of the proposed control scheme is analyzed according to Lyapunov stability theory. Law-filter is also used to improve the performance of the system. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the presented control method.

Abstract

The self-excited vibration of blooming mill is a kind of torsional vibration, which occurs only when the rolling machine slips under appropriate conditions. Once in place, this may cause the larger peak pressure of each component in the main drive system; reduce the service life of the components, cause components′ damage directly. A large number of studies have shown that, at present there are not effective methods for diagnosis, monitoring of slipping and take proper measures in time to stop slipping so as to avoid the occurrence of malignant accidents. In this paper, author set out from another angle, take the main drive system of rolling mill as an example, to study stability of self-excited vibration. The conditions of the stable vibration are gained. By combining with the actual working conditions of blooming mill, author has put forward some effective measures to meet the stable conditions in order to make the blooming mill work in the stable state. Practice research has proved that the effective measures can contribute to reduce structural damage directly caused by the torsional vibration when “slipping” phenomenon occurred and to extend the service life of the components. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2699
