Abstract

Accurate and efficient harmonics detection is an important premise and basis for controlling the harmonics. The sampling frequency of the grid voltage and current in digital substation normally must be kept constantly as required by the standard of IEC61850, thus the asynchronous sampling caused by the fluctuating grid frequency and this constant sampling frequency will result in spectral leakage and aliasing which would affect the accuracy of harmonic analysis. In this paper, a double-spectrum-line interpolation Fast Fourier Transform approach based on multi-term Harris window for grid frequency and harmonic measurement was proposed, and the simple and practical adjustment formulas for the frequency, amplitude and phase angle were derived by curve fitting. The correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method were validated by simulation and field test.

Abstract

To compute vertex normal of triangular meshes more accurately, this paper presents an improved algorithm based on angle and centroid weights. Firstly, four representational algorithms are analyzed by comparing their weighting characteristics such as angles, areas and centroids. The drawbacks of each algorithm are discussed. Following that, an improved algorithm is put forward based on angle and centroid weights. Finally, by taking the deviation angle between the nominal normal vector and the estimated one as the error evaluation standard factor, the triangular mesh models of spheres, ellipsoids, paraboloids and cylinders are used to analyze the performance of all these estimation algorithms. The machining and inspection operations of one mould part are conducted to verify the improved algorithm. Abstract

This paper presents the optimization of house purchase recommendation system (HRPS) using Genetic Algorithm.  Everyone in this world has their own dream house and plan to purchase it depending on their budget and based on the house preferences. Homebuyers face problem in comparing the house property websites according to the factors during the house survey. Subsequently, it is time-consuming in making the decision and they need to bear the transportation cost as they will need to travel to one house developer office to another. In addition, some of the homebuyers felt disappointed when their expectations were not met. Thus, in order to optimize the preferences, in this paper, we present a web-based house purchase recommendation system (HPRS) using a genetic algorithm. Then, it follows by test the functionality and usability of the system. As a result, the system found to function accordingly and obtain more than the average score of system usability scale testing. For further research, it is recommended to add more data to the database and compare with other algorithms.

Abstract

YouTube has become a popular social media among the users. Due to YouTube popularity, it became a platform for spammer to distribute spam through the comments on YouTube. This has become a concern because spam can lead to phishing attack which the target can be any user that click any malicious link. Spam has its own features that can be analyzed and detected by classification. Hence, enhancement features are proposed to detect YouTube spam. In order to conduct the experiments, a YouTube Spam detection framework that consists of five (5) phases such as data collection, pre-processing, features selection and extraction, classification and detection were developed. This paper, proposed the YouTube detection framework, examined and validate each of the phases by using two types of data mining tool. The features are constructed from analysis by using data collected from YouTube Spam dataset by using Naïve Bayes and Logistic Regression and tested in two different data mining tools which is Weka and Rapid Miner. From the analysis, thirteen (13) features that had been tested on Weka and RapidMiner shows high accuracy, hence is being used throughout the experiment in this research. Result of Naïve Bayes and Logistic Regression run in Weka is slightly higher than RapidMiner. In addition, result of Naïve Bayes is higher than Logistic Regression with 87.21% and 85.29% respectively in Weka. While in RapidMiner there is slightly different of accuracy between Naïve Bayes and Logistic Regression 80.41% and 80.88%. But, precision of Naïve Bayes is higher than Logistic Regression.

Abstract

Visible light communication (VLC) is an emerging and promising new technology in optical wireless communication (OWC). However, dimming has an adverse effect on the performance of visible light communication system. In visible light communication (VLC) system, illumination and communication both are provided simultaneously using a light emitting diode (LED). The specification for lighting is application specific for which dimming control is required. There are different modulation techniques for dimming control in visible light communication. In this thesis, NRZ-OOK modulation method and 4-QAM-OFDM modulation techniques are investigated for different dimming range, transmission distance, beam divergence angle and bit rate. The result shows that for 13m link range, 5Gb/s data speed is achievable for the 4-QAM-OFDM scheme. The analysis of this research is executed only based on system parameters. The scope of this research excluded the following parameters which are shadowing, mobility, multipath interference and inter-symbol interference for multicarrier modulation. These are the related research topic which can be investigated for future work.

Abstract

Advancements in the field of energy are among priorities of modern-day research. Most of the modern studies concern particularly on renewable energy resources especially that of Solar Energy to meet the energy demand of the future energy markets. Solar energy is one of the richest sources of nature, but involvement of environmental effects readily affects the overall performance of the Photovoltaic Panel. This paper highlights the importance of the solar energy, techniques and comparison of mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline and their particular energy profile. A Matlab/Simulink model is constructed to analyze the behavior of solar cell on effect of irradiance and temperature. Experimental results show the adverse effect of humidity, shading, direction and climate changes on the performance of the solar cell.

Abstract

In the study, it presents an efficient algorithm based on SURF (Speeded Up Robust Features). The method applies the SURF algorithm in the detection and description for image features, first it applies the SURF feature detector in extracting reference images and matching feature points in the image, respectively, then it uses DAISY algorithm instead of the SURF algorithm to calculate the character description of each feature point vector. In the process of feature points matching, the false matching points are eliminated through RANSAC algorithm. Abstract

A review on the recent development in the non-linear flutter and thermal buckling of an FGM panel under the combined effect of elevated temperature conditions and aerodynamic loading is investigated using a finite element model based on the thin plate theory and von Karman strain-displacement relations to account for moderately large deflection. The governing non-linear equations are obtained using the principal of virtual work adopting an approach based on the thermal strain being a cumulative physical quantity to account for temperature dependent material properties. This system of non-linear equations is solved by Newton–Raphson numerical technique. It is found that the temperature increase has an adverse effect on the FGM panel flutter characteristics through decreasing the critical dynamic pressure. Decreasing the volume fraction enhances flutter characteristics but this is limited by structural integrity aspect. Structural finite element analysis has been employed to determine the FGM panel's adaptive response while under the influence of a uniaxial compressive load in excess of its critical buckling value. It is shown that, utilising the considerable control authority generated, even for a small actuator volume fraction, the out-of-plane displacement of the post-buckled FGM panel's can be significantly reduced.  http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v12i12.6672

Abstract

Marine species are usually transported from one area to another by the ballast water used to provide safe operation for vessels. After entering a new environment, they may cause damage to the local ecosystem, leading to the disruptions of the entire marine ecosystem, and seriously affecting not only biodiversity but also several industries such as fishing and aquaculture. Therefore, the United Nations (UN) considers the presence of non-indigenous oceanic species to be one of the top four serious threats to the global environment; and, how to effectively control the non-indigenous aquatic species has captivated the special attentions of several scientists worldwide. With the significant development in the maritime industry, strict requirements the control and management of ships’ ballast water and sediments set by The UN's International Maritime Organization (IMO) have well shaped the trend in installing ballast water treatment systems. Among them, Optimarin Ballast System is preferably used in practice. However, currently, Vietnam’s fleets use a different chemical method which is not utilized elsewhere in the world. Because it is not environmentally friendly and its effectiveness hasn’t been validated yet, this paper suggests the application of OBS in the Vietnam’s fleet in order to prevent sea pollution from non-indigenous aquatic species and minimize its associated negative impacts as well as make the Vietnam’s fleet comply with IMO requirements in protecting the global environment for sustainable development.

Abstract

The design method of orthogonal test is commonly used in engineering test. It is very effective when many factors’ influences on one test .Orthogonal table experimental design is necessary to simplify the test procedure, to reduce the number of tests, and to improve test efficiency. By the orthogonal test, a level of each factor can be chosen to form the optimal production conditions. But in the current orthogonal experiment data analysis, we always adopt the manual calculation, and we will make big errors when we have a complex calculation. Therefore we consider the development by using computer programming of c++ computer Builder to solve this problem.
