Abstract

Introduction diabetes mellitus (DM) is a degenerative disease that occurs due to abnormal carbohydrate metabolism. DM conditions occur when the pancreas is unable to produce insulin or the sensitivity of cell receptors to insulin is very low. The increase in DM occurs when the pancreatic beta cells are unable to produce insulin or the sensitivity of cell receptors to insulin is very low. Damage to pancreatic beta cells can be caused by diabetogenic substances such as alloxan. Teripang bilalo (Actinopyga mauritiana) is a marine animal that has been used as food and medicine. Contains many secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides, steroids, and saponins. active compound flavonoids and saponins., research objectives to know the effectiveness of oral administration of teripang billion in reducing blood sugar levels and the ability to repair tissue in pancreatic beta cells seen from hispatology, materials, and methods is an experimental study with 25 mice as subjects. Oral administration of sea teripang bilalo ethanol extract at doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg, positive control by oral administration of glibenclamide, and negative control by administration of Na-CMC then a histopathological examination of the pancreas was performed, research results in the administration of teripang bilalo ethanol extract 400 mg / kg proved to be able to reduce blood sugar levels to 179.4 mg / dl and proved to have an effect on the improvement of pancreatic histology, which is a picture of damage to peripheral islands of langerhans by 1, damage to islands of langerhans less than 50% by 2.4 and damage, conclusions administration of teripang bilalo ethanol extract is proven to reduce blood sugar levels and have an effect on improving pancreatic histology.

Abstract

Febrile neutropenia mostly happens among children with cancer and can be prevented by infection management control. This study aimed to measure the parents’ knowledge and behavior about infection management control implementation in children with febrile neutropenia. This study used a pre-experimental design with a pre-post without control group approach. The study sample consisted of 30 parents of children with cancer who were treated with febrile neutropenia. Pre-test measured parents’ knowledge about infection control using Parents’ Knowledge Instrument before the education session begins. Infection management control consisted of parents’ education and behavior monitoring of infection control for five days in hospital. After that, the respondents did a post-test to see the effectiveness of the intervention. The infection management control was effective to reduce infection. This can be seen from the significant increase in parents’ knowledge (p=0,001) and it was in line with the change of parents’ infection management control behavior.  Parents’ infection management control in children with febrile neutropenia is effective in reducing the incidence of infection and the length of stay for children in the hospital, as well as improving the quality of life for children. Further research can be carried out with more effective methods so that infection management control can run optimally.

Abstract

The sexuality of women with diabetes mellitus has not received much attention from the health team because patients rarely complain about it. This is related to cultural factors that are considered taboo. Research related to a sexual dysfunction that occurs in women with DM is relatively low. This study aims to explore the experiences of female patients with  type II DM who experience sexual dysfunction. This study used a phenomenological qualitative design, 8 participants were women with type II DM. The results of this study showed the impact of sexual dysfunction greatly affected the quality of life of the participants, where participants experienced disturbances when having sexual intercourse namely decreased desire, and pain during intercourse, creating feelings of guilt then resulting in disharmony in the household which can trigger psychological problems namely feeling low self-esteem, disturbed body image, and depression. The role of the health team is necessary to carry out early screening and sexual assessment in patients with DM to find out whether there is a sexual dysfunction disorder. Sexologist is also needed in dealing with patients who experience sexual dysfunction due to type II DM so they can arrange appropriate interventions. Keywords: Experience, DM type II, Female Sexual Dysfunction

Abstract

Background: The estimated number of LGBT individuals in Indonesia has reached 7.5 million, with one of the contributing factors being the taboo surrounding discussions on deviant sexual behaviors, particularly among teenagers. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an effect of education on the perception of adolescents in Medan City regarding Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) individuals. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group design. The sampling method used in this research was non-probability sampling, specifically the purposive sampling technique. The research was conducted in four schools in Medan, comprising two public high schools and two Islamic-based secondary schools. The research respondents were 12th-grade students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. In the intervention group, a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation on LGBT was delivered to the entire class. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire consisting of 17 questions. Results: The total number of respondents was 224. The hypothesis testing on the influence of education on students' perceptions of LGBT, using the Mann-Whitney test, yielded a p-value of 0.01, indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. The hypothesis testing on the background of the school using the Mann-Whitney test resulted in a p-value of 0.01, indicating that the hypothesis was rejected. Conclusion: There is an influence of education on teenagers' perceptions of LGBT, and there is no difference in teenagers' perceptions of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) based on the background of the school.

Abstract

Stroke is a disease with high cost, high volume, and high risk. The burden of these costs will increase if you experience complications that often occur in sufferers.  This study aimed to identify a clinical pathway model to prevent complications and improve the quality of life of stroke patients. This study is a quantitative descriptive study with crossectional, with 95 samples of stroke patients who have been treated for at least 1 day, can communicate 2 ways at Hospital dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid Bekasi City, and who have studied ethical feasibility. Participants must fill out informed consent. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that the most participants were aged between 45 – 59 years (43.2%), male (61.1%). Hypertension, disease before stroke (71.9%), and 2 attacks (10.5%). (51.6%) were unaware of stroke with symptoms of muscle weakness (87.4%),  (45.3%) difficulty speaking, and (17.2%) blurred vision. (46.9%) complications of paralysis. Activity daily living eating and drinking (55.8%), (58.95) personal hygiene, (62.1%) elimination, (68.4%) ambulation, (65.3%) mobilization, and (54.7%) rest/sleep should be assisted. Treatment was carried out by taking medication (89.5%) and control to health facilities (75.8%), but (75.8%) did not carry out rehabilitation and exercise (54.7%). There are still many participants who do not know about stroke well, which affects their independence in carrying out activities. Therefore, a clinical pathway model is needed that is used as a reference in providing information and education to stroke patients, to prevent complications and improve the quality of stroke patients.
