Abstract

Introduction:The incidence of breast cancer has increased every year, mostly in developing countries. However, breast cancer awareness in women is still insufficient. A woman must be aware of breast cancer disease earlier. This study aimed to describe breast cancer awareness in female adolescents. Methods: The research design was used descriptive-analytic. The study population consisted of female adolescents in 10th-11th grade at Vocational High School in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. The sample was taken using stratified random sampling. There are 206 female adolescents aged 15-18 years old who participated in this study. Data collected using a self-structured breast cancer awareness questionnaire arranged by Breast Cancer Awareness Measurement (BCAM) guideline. The questionnaire consisted of breast cancer knowledge (disease, signs and symptoms, risk factors), perception, and BSE. The statistical analysis was using distribution frequency. Results: The result presented that the majority of female adolescents had high awareness (67,5%). The maximum score was knowledge of disease (3.28 ± 0.54) (table 3). The minimum score was risk factors knowledge (1.95 ± 0.69) and BSE (1.81 ± 0.78).Conclusion: The respondents have good knowledge of breast cancer disease yet understanding of risk factors is low. It is necessary to do counseling programs in school, particularly women's reproductive health and breast self-examination (BSE) due to improve knowledge of risk factors in female adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: A school is where a student learns and molds into the desired individual but sometimes, a place where the famous and beautiful are honored and respected while the poor little ones are experience bullying. This study aims to determine the perceptions and prevalence of bullying to design a plan addressing issues on students' predicaments in Biliran Province State University (BiPSU).Methods: The researchers made use of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS)-Descriptive Statistics’ frequency, percentile and central tendency, where variables as to profile, perception and prevalence of  bullying among secondary students  are statistically analyzed. Results: Students' perception of bullying is significant than its prevalence. Students have increased knowledge and awareness of bullying. However, though less notable than the perception, the pervasiveness of bullying is still considerable. Conclusion: The majority of the respondents have not experienced bullying. Students think that bullying at school happens once or twice a term. Student's perception of bullying is more eminent than its prevalence. These pervasion results are meaningful because students' reflection in bullying is distinguished.

Abstract

Introduction:Diarrhea was one of the common diseases that easily acquired by school-age children. It is caused by a lack of health education about hygiene and health. Clean And healthy lifestyle education is one of the viable solutions to prevent diarrhea in elementary school-age children. The purpose of the research is to analyze the effect of health education hygiene and health behavior by using a card-telling method toward child elementary school-aged diarrhea prevention behavior. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design. The total number of respondents is 60 children. The respondents were recruited by purposive sampling method. The instrument of study is a card telling and modified the questionnaire adjacent to the previous study. The data were collected used questionnaires and observations than analyzed used significance of <0.05 Wilcoxon sign rank test and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The Wilcoxon sign rank test result by using a card telling method has a total value p=0.000, then <0.05 there is the effect of the card telling method on hygiene and health behavior to preventing diarrhea knowledge, attitude, and action of the child elementary school age. The statistical analysis showed differences in post-test results between the control group and the treatment group with p=0.000.Conclusion: The card telling method could increase the level of knowledge, attitude, and skill of the child elementary school age. The nurse could use a card telling to achieve optimal results in giving the health education of children.

Abstract

Introduction: Anemia in pregnancy is an indirect cause maternal mortality. One of causes anemia during pregnancy is deficit of nutrient especially intake of iron. The aim of this study was to know that the role of religious leaders that called “Tuan Guru” as agent of change to improving iron intake among anemia pregnant women. Methods: This study was quasi-experimental with pre and post-test group design. 86 participants pregnant women with anemia have been recruited in this study with purposive sampling technic. They were divided in intervention group (47 participants) and control group (39 participants). This study involved Tuan Guru as main intervention to give health promotion about nutrition during pregnancy. This study used food recall as an instrument tool that it used to measure nutrient intake especially intake of iron both pre and post intervention and also used questonare to measure food restriction behaviour among anemia pregnant women. Statistical test used paired t-testResults: This study show that there were effect of religious leaders to improving the iron intake among pregnant women with anemia with p=0.01. This study also found that the habits of food restriction among pregnant women are decline between before and after intervention with p=0.00.Conclusion: Tuan Guru has a strong influence in helping to increase nutritional intake and is able to minimize the food restriction behaviour among anemia pregnant women. The result of this study can be a basis for government to make a policy related to involvement of religious leaders in health promotion.

Abstract

Introduction:The use of Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) in postpartum women is still low even though the government recommends an effective method to decrease population growth. Attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control are background factors that shape people's intentions in displaying behavior. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control with postpartum women's intentions using LARC.Methods: This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The populations were postpartum women ≤ 42 days in Tambaksari Sub-District Surabaya. The inclusion criteria were postpartum women who had not become KB acceptors and the exclusion criteria for postpartum women with widow status.  The samples were 84 people that met using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected with a questionnaire consisting of demographic data, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and intentionand analyzed using spearmen's rho test with a significance level of 0.05.Results: The result showed that attitude (p=0.000 r=0.604) , subjective norm (p=0.000 r=0.610), and perceived behavioral control (p=0.000 r=0.608) had significant correlation with intentions. Conclusion: The positive attitude, good subjective norm support, and robust perceived behavioral control give high intentions using LARC in postpartum women. The recommendations for future researchers are expected to conduct a comparative study of the behavior of choosing LARC and Non-LARC in postpartum women.

Abstract

Introduction: Low birth weight (LBW)  is one of the main risk factors for neonatal morbidity and mortality. Anemia in developing countries is still quite high compared to developed countries. Low hemoglobin levels in pregnancy can affect the birth of low birth weight babies. Methods: This study used a systematic review method. Studies published between 2015 and 2019. Search for articles was reviewed systematically through Scopus, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, and PubMed databases. The final results obtained 10 articles following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Calculation result using Meta-Analysis with help of Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) software. Results: Compare the odds ratio and confidence interval of hemoglobin levels compared to low birth weight events. The results obtained OR 1.449 (95% CI 0.964 – 2.177) and p-Value 0.074 so that there is no relationship of hemoglobin levels in pregnant women ≤ 11gr / dL with the incidence of low birth weight babies. In the heterogeneity test results, I-Squared results obtained by 79.191%, which indicates the value of I-squared heterogeneity> 50% so that the sample used is heterogeneous. Maternal age less than 20 years or more than 35 years, number of parity, pregnancy spacing, and number of problems in the assessment of pregnancy and previous labor. Conclusion: There is no correlation between low maternal hemoglobin levels with the incidence of low birth weight because there are other factors that can affect outcomes such as different respondent characteristics, number of samples, different research countries, different trimester of pregnancy and other factors that can cause research bias.
