Abstract

Galangal (Alpinia purpurata) is a herb and medicine plant that is found in Southeast Asia including Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It is known to have health benefits for its flavonoid, phytosterol, and phenols that are anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-fungal properties. The phytosterol also can be used for sex hormones production. The exploration of its uses in aquaculture are not yet fully understand. In this LC50-96 experiments were tested for its optimum dosage used in aquaculture by using zebrafish larvae (Danio rerio) as a model. The optimum dosage in the experiments were between 1—31,83 ppm for ethanolic extract of galangal and <0,83 ppm for methanolic extract of galangal. Its uses in aquaculture must be further explored by its effect in fishes behaviors or by the histology of the organs.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of parental support and achievement motivation on academic performance of secondary school students in Islamic Religious Studies in Lagos State. The study posed three research questions and tested two hypotheses. The study is a descriptive survey design with the population consisting of all 68 public senior secondary schools in Lagos state Education District V and 31,703 Islamic Religious Studies Students. A Sample of 400 SS II Islamic religious studies students were selected using Simple random sampling technique in 10 randomly selected schools for this study. Descriptive analysis was used to answer the research questions and lineal Regression was used to test hypotheses at α=0.05 level of significance. The study found that the level of Parental Support, Achievement Motivation and Academic Performance were all high among senior secondary schools Islamic Studies Students in Lagos State. Also that Parental Support and Achievement Motivation does not have significant influence on the Academic Performance of senior secondary schools Islamic Studies Students in Lagos State. Based on these findings, it was recommended among others that Parents and guardians should show high level of parental support for their children, in order to reinforce learning and enhance their academic performance.

Abstract

This research aims to study the reality of using e-learning systems in the educational process, in addition to analyzing the use of the BbS examining the decisions of THP and weighing its advantages and disadvantages. The descriptive technique was used in the investigation. The field study was carried out with the use of a questionnaire distributed to students enrolled in the THP at the Applied College, Al-Ula Branch. SPSS 25 was used to do a statistical analysis of the gathered data. The study's found that students in the THP utilize the Bbs functionalities to study their courses, resulting in a low degree of benefit from the Bbs. The study proposes that seminars and training courses be held for course teachers and students to train them on the BbS, encouraging instructors to utilize the range of evaluation tools offered by the BbS, including assignments, brief and oral exams, periodic exams, and final exams

Abstract

This study aims to predict a student’s graduation on time (GOT) using machine learning algorithms. We applied five different machine learning algorithms, namely Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (Linear Kernel), Support Vector Machine (Polynomial Kernel), K-Nearest Neighbors, and Naïve Bayes. These algorithms were tested using 10-fold cross validation and simulated various parameter tuning values. The results show that the Random Forest algorithm produces the best accuracy and kappa statistics values, so this algorithm is suitable for modeling predictive data of students graduating on time. This predictive model is expected to be useful for higher education management in designing their strategies to assist and improve student academic performance weaknesses in order to achieve graduation on time.
