Abstract

Spotted barb (Puntius binotatus) is one of tropical fish in Indonesia freshwater, which has high economic value. To maintain the stock in nature, information about the reproduction cycle in the mid raining season is required for conservation so that we can control the catch of spotted barb. This study aimed to examine the effect of raining season on GMS, GSI and GI?s male and female. Observation methods were used as a tool to collect the data. The result of the research showed that a variety of GMS, GSI and GI?s male and female. Quantity of oocyte primer 423; 664; 480; 380; meanwhile that quantity of oosite secondary oocyte 73; 172; 411; 230. Result of water quality measured in the river as temperature 28-30oC, pH 6,8-7 and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) 3-3,4 ppm. The gonad weightgreatly influenced the rate of GMS, GSI, and GI in determining fish reproductionwas interrelated and directly proportional. Increasing of GMSwas affected by the increasing value of GSI and similarly the GI value which is directly proportional with increasing of GSI and GMS. The reproductive cycle of gonadal maturity spotted barb increased during themid rainy season.

Abstract

The status and potential of ichtyofauna resources in freshwaters, especially downstream of the river, must be monitored and evaluated frequently. Land use along the downstream river is often used as mining and industrial activities. The purpose of this study was to find out ichtyofauna in down stream of the Klawing Purbalingga River in Central Java. The study was conducted in January-March 2017 with descriptive exploratory method. Sampling using gill nets with the help of local fishermen. The fish obtained were identified and grouped by family to the species level. The results showed that in the down stream of the Klawing River there were species diversity consisting of 13 species, 7 families and 13 genera. Ichtyofauna from Cyprinidae family dominate as many as 6 species followed by Bagridae family 2 species. One introduced species of Osphronemus gouramy and one invasive alien fish species Hypostomus plecostomus and other species were indigenous species.

Abstract

The entry of foreign predatory fish into Indonesian open waters had the potential as a disease vector, predation, and damaging food webs that would have a systemic impact on the local ecosystem. In this study, we report the presence of the foreign predatory fish Jaguar cichlid Parachromis managuensis (Günther, 1867) from Central America in the Lingsar River, West Lombok Regency. This record is the first time for this species in Lombok, where previously this fish was found in Java. A description of the morphological characters of the captured specimens is provided in the discussion.

Abstract

Production of freshwater fish in Pro-bolinggo tend to decrease mainly due to the increase of feed cost. The purposed of this activity was dissemination of or-ganic feed technology utilization in Purut village, Lumbang and Klenang Lor village, Banyu Anyar, Probolinggo. The method of Participatory Rural Appraisal was used. This method consisted of socializa-tion, training, monitoring and evaluati-on. Utilization of organic feed was per-formed on a tarp tank with an area of 15 m2 (3 tarp pools) with stocking density (5-7 cm) of ±333  fish/m2 in each group.  Production of 1.32 tons was obtained after 75 days catfish culture with FCR value of 2.5. The profit of production by using this technology was IDR 4.290.000 per cycle. There is an increase in profit of IDR 2.190.000 (104.3%) compared to the usual culture due to a decrease of feed costs by applied this technology. Finally, the farmers can get information about the production of organic feed, can produce their own organic feed as a substitute to commercial feed and can increase their income. Abstract

Nemacheilus fasciatus is an Indonesian freshwater fish species that can be found in river waters on Java. This fish has a morphological similarity between species. This study aims to identify species of samples found and know their genetic kinship. This study used the Cytochrome Oxidase subunit I (COI) gene as a molecular marker, and then the results were analyzed using MEGA X software. The genetic structure and phylogeny of N. fasciatus sequences were combined with outgroup species from GenBank and analyzed using Maximum Likehood (ML), Pairwise Genetic Distance and Bootstrapping Phylogeny Model of Kimura 2 Parameters. The results showed that the primary pairs of LCO1490 and HCO2198 used to amplify the sample N. fasciatus with COI as a marker. The nucleotide frequencies of these loaches are A=26.5%, T=23.8%, C=19.9% and G=29.9%. The estimated Transition/Transversion bias (R) is 0.60. The number of haplotype diversity (Hd) was 0.972, and nucleotide (Pi) diversity was 0.05115. The kinship of N. fasciatus compared to the outgroup is closer to N. pallidus than N. chrysolaimos. Research needs to be conducted with a larger sample size for the genetic diversity of N. fasciatus in Indonesia.

Abstract

Mystacoleucus marginatus is a type of freshwater fish that is spread in various countries with tropical climates, one of which is Indonesia. This fish can be found in the Brantas River Basin (DAS), East Java. In its development, identification of fish species needs to be done in detail and more deeply, so that the correct identification results can be obtained. This study aims to identify genetic and phylogenetic characteristics of Mystacoleucus marginatus in the Brantas River Basin based on the Cytochrome Oxidase C Subunit I (COI) gene. Test samples were taken from 11 individuals of Mystacoleucus marginatus in the Brantas watershed, from June to August 2018. The results showed that Mystacoleucus marginatus in the Brantas watershed had 2 Haplotypes with Haplotype (Hd)=0.96 diversity values and nucleotides diversity (Pi)=0.00357. These results indicate that the population in the Brantas watershed is interconnected between one location and another sampling location, this is supported by a phylogenetic topology of DNA barcodes showing a monophyletic clade, as well as a haplotype distribution indicating that the sample area is genetics are not isolated from one another. So that the type of Mystacoleucus marginatus scattered along the Brantas watershed is still in one species, which is indicated by the low level of genetic variation. Genetic identification efforts must be carried out continuously so that appropriate information can be obtained for the diversity of fish species, especially endemic fish.
