Abstract

The research entitled "Translation Method and Ideology of Organ Kanyouku in Akutagawa Ryuunosuke's Short Story “Kappa" is aimed to study the methods and ideologies of translation applied in Akutagawa Ryuunosuke's short story, Kappa. The data source of the study is a short story entitled “Kappa” written by Akutagawa Ryuunosuke. This research was analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. The analysis of the translation method uses the method of translation theory by Newmark (1988), the ideology of translation theory by Venuti (2000) and the translation shift theory by Nida and Taber (1982). The results of this research indicates that in translating 19 kanyouku found in the data source. The translators only use five out of eight translation method proposed, there are two kanyouku use the communication translation method, 11 kanyouku use free translation methods, two kanyouku use the adaptation translation method; one kanyouku uses word for word translation method; and three kanyouku use the literal translation method. Regarding the ideology of translation by Venuti (2000), the results of this study indicates that there are 15 kanyouku that are translated through domestication and four kanyouku are translated through foreignization.

Abstract

Kanji dalam bahasa Jepang merupakan hal yang unik dan menarik untuk dipelajari. Unik dari sisi pembentukan dan cara penulisan, dan adanya bunyi baca yang bisa lebih dari satu bunyi pada tiap-tiap kanjinya. Salah satu jenis kanji yang unsur pembentuknya melibatkan bunyi baca yaitu kasha moji. Salah satu fungsi Kasha moji yaitu digunakan pada penyebutan negara-negara. Pada penelitian ini dibahas tentang penggunaan kasha moji pada penamaan negara-negara di benua Asia. Dari hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan, ciri khas dari kasha moji yaitu meminjam bunyi pada suatu kanji tertentu untuk mengungkapkan suatu penamaan misalnya pada nama negara-negara di benua Asia, kemudian dalam proses pembentukannya banyak terjadi proses morfemis atau perubahan-perubahan bunyi yang terjadi yang mengakibatkan adanya perbedaan bunyi dari kata serapannya yaitu katakana dengan bunyi kanji yang dipinjam tersebut.

Abstract

Goddard and Wierzbicka (2014) mentions the original meanings of mental predicate consisting of six types namely think, know, feel, see, hear, want and don't want. This finding was forwarded into Japanese by Asano Cavanagh (2015), and found 12 verbs of Japanese language that were matched with those found by Goddard and Wierzbicka (2014). Of the twelve mental predicates that were continued by Asano, the type KNOW is matched with the verb ? ? shiru in Japanese. KNOW ?? shiru has subtypes KNOW and SAY. Furthermore, the subtype has three sub-subtypes, namely KNOW and SAY SOME, KNOW and SAY ALL PARTS, and KNOW and SAY AT ALL (NO).

Abstract

In this study the authors analyzed the form and function of expressions of heart in Japanese kimochi, kibun and kigen. The purpose of this study is to discrete the form and function of kimochi, kibun and kigen in the sentence contained in Banana Yoshimoto's kitchin novel through the study of form and function. In this study the author uses descriptive analysis method according to Sudaryanto's theory. According to the method of descriptive analysis is research carried out solely based on facts or phenomena that are empirically used by speakers so that it can be presented as is. For data analysis, the writer uses the method, namely the basic technique for Direct Elements (BUL). To analyze the data, the author uses the theory of Kyosuke Kandaichi and his friends. Based on the theory, it can be known the function of kimochi noun, kibun and kigen is to express the element of feeling that has the characteristics of each.

Abstract

The title of this research is “Formation and Meaning on Gitaigo of Handa Kun Comic by Satsuki Yoshino” that aimed to explain the forming process and meaning on gitaigo of Handa Kun comic 1-7 volume by Satsuki Yoshino. The problem in this research was analyzed by using formal method and informal technique. Gitaigo formation analysis used Japanese morphology theory by Tsujimura (1996) and characteristic of Japanese onomatopoeia by Akimoto (2002). While the gitaigo meaning analysis used semantic property theory by Chaer (2015a). The result of this research is on Handa Kun comic was found three types of gitaigo formation i.e. reduplication, affixation, and compounding. Furthermore, the characteristic of onomatopoeia that found are hanpuku, sokuon, choo’on, hatsuon, and -ri morpheme addition. Then, inheritance elements and additional elements was found in each gitaigo. Through additional elements found, there is an expansion meaning or constriction meaning can be known in the words that formed by gitaigo.
