Abstract

This study investigates quality control of 100ml bottle products at PT. XYZ Pandaan using the Six Sigma methodology and Root Cause Analysis. The primary concern is a high defect rate, which negatively impacts production efficiency and product quality. Over a 30-day observation period, 9,810 sample units were examined. Five major defect types were identified: black spots, oil stains, uneven bottle mouths, folded mouths, and deformations. Pareto analysis revealed that black spots, uneven mouths, and folded mouths constituted over 80% of total defects. A P-chart analysis indicated an unstable process. The Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) was 5,708, corresponding to a sigma level of 4.03. The process capability index was 1.34, suggesting the process is capable but requires refinement. RCA was employed to develop improvement strategies, including operator training, preventive maintenance, and stricter quality control. The proposed control plan includes SOP implementation, daily checklists, continuous training, and visual management tools.

Abstract

This study aims to design a karakuri system that aligns with customer needs using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. The research was conducted at one of PT. Trustindo Mekatronic Mulya’s clients, who required a supporting tool to ease operator workload during the material transfer process. Data was collected through interviews and field observations, then analyzed using the House of Quality to translate customer needs into relevant technical specifications. The results indicate that a manual karakuri mechanism using pipe joint materials is the most suitable solution due to its simplicity, energy efficiency, flexibility, and low cost. This design allows for ergonomic box material movement without relying on external energy sources, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and operator comfort. The findings confirm the effectiveness of the QFD method in producing functional, cost-effective, and user-oriented product designs.

Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. XYZ which is engaged in manufacturing, with a focus on forming machines. The purpose of this study was to analyze the maintenance system of forming machines using the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) method, in order to improve machine reliability and reduce the frequency of damage. The results of the analysis showed that the bearing component had the highest RPN value of 224. The MTTF on the bearing machine was 312.39 hours. While the MTTR result was 213.2143. From these results, PT XYZ needs to conduct inspections about 1 month 2 times to increase the operational level of the forming machine, the addition of lubricants is also needed to reduce the frequency of failure in the bearing  forming machine.

Abstract

The TPS Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Tenggilis Mejoyo faces a problem with waste residue levels of 58.61%, far above the ideal target of 30%. This research develops an automated waste sorting device using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach to optimize the sorting process. The research methodology employs four QFD phases from Voice of Customer to production planning. A prototype measuring 40x10 cm with a conveyor speed of 10 cm/s was developed based on high-priority technical responses. Testing was conducted with 5 repetitions using 150 mixed samples of plastic and paper. Results showed an overall accuracy of 83.95% with details of 85.3% for plastic and 82.6% for paper/cardboard. Actual capacity reached 13 sorts/minute for plastic and 21 sorts/minute for paper. Implementation of the device increased accuracy from 65% to 84% (19% improvement). The automation system with YOLO algorithm proved effective in improving sorting effectiveness and contributing to waste residue reduction at the 3R TPS.

Abstract

This research was conducted in the raw material warehouse division of PT Indofood Fortuna Makmur, a snack food manufacturing company known for products such as Chitato, Chiki, and Qtela, located in Cikupa, Tangerang. The objective of the study is to evaluate and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the warehouse management system, particularly in addressing operational challenges due to increased production capacity and the use of temporary rental storage at Warehouse 88. The data were analyzed using the 5S method, ABC analysis, and seasonal slotting. The implementation of the 5S principles proved to improve orderliness, cleanliness, and workplace safety. The seasonal slotting method helped optimize raw material storage by adjusting locations based on seasonal production patterns. Meanwhile, ABC analysis enabled more efficient and structured stock and storage space management. The integration of these three methods significantly enhanced the overall performance of the warehouse system at PT Indofood Fortuna Makmur.

Abstract

Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) are one of the most commonly cultivated edible mushrooms due to their high nutritional value and relatively simple cultivation process. One crucial stage in oyster mushroom cultivation is the preparation of baglogs, which are cylindrical growing media wrapped in plastic and filled with a mixture of sawdust and other supplementary materials. The process of compacting the baglog mixture into plastic bags requires significant time and labor when done manually. Therefore, the design of this equipment aims to develop a baglog press machine to improve efficiency and consistency in the production process. Using engineering design methods such as planning and integration, this machine is designed with a mechanical system and has dimensions of 100 x 50 x 100 centimeters. It is powered by a 1 hp electric motor running at 1400 rpm, coupled with a WPX 70 1:60 gearbox to assist the pressing lever, enabling uniform pressure, speeding up the pressing process, and reducing operator fatigue. Testing results show that this press machine can reduce baglog production time by up to 50% compared to the manual method.

Abstract

This study discusses the feasibility of investing in a packing machine at CV. Basalamah using the discounted payback period and profitability index methods, as part of Capital Budgeting analysis. This method helps the company assess investment decisions financially, as it is easy to understand and offers various calculation techniques. CV. Basalamah, which produces macaroni snacks, is facing high demand and plans to increase production capacity. Since the investment in a packing machine requires a large amount of capital, a feasibility analysis is necessary to ensure accurate decision-making. The main focus of this study is on financial aspects, while also considering other interrelated factors.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on the Semi Robotic Welding Machine at PT Refindo Intiselaras using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) approach to find the causes of high downtime. This study took place from January to December 2024 using data on the three main components of OEE: Availability, Performance, Quality. The analysis showed that the average value of Availability was 95.30%, Performance was 89.47%, and Quality was 99.07%, with the average OEE value reaching 84.47%. This figure has not met the international OEE standard set at 85%, with the main factors that hinder it being variations in Performance as well as a small decrease in Quality. It is recommended that the company improve supervision of machine operational speed and strengthen the implementation of TPM between divisions to achieve maximum yield value in the production process.

Abstract

Industry in indonesia which is increasingly experiencing development encaurages PG.XYZ increases the realiabelity of the machine on the sugar cane milling machine, especially on the unigrator knife component, the method used in the sudy is the use the Realiabelity Centered Maintenance (RCM) methode. Data was taken during the 2023 and 2024 milling seasone, with risk analysis using FMEA Risk Priority Number the value obtained was 216 and a precentage of 17.%. Significant downtime of 1540 minutes (30%) was recorded due to the replacement of the componen. RCM analysis use the weibull distribution matrix bicause it most accurately describes the damge pattern, with an MTTF value of 588.57 hours, MTTR I hour 58 minutes. And MTBF of 225.8 hours. And for Condition derected maintenance actions, and these findings indicate the need for scheduling intervals to reduce further downtime so as to increase operational efficiency to optimally extend the life of the component.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on the Steam Boiler machine at PG. XYZ, which plays an important role in the sugar production process. The background of this research is the increasing downtime of the boiler machine, which was recorded at 15.67 hours in 2023 and jumped to 29.76 hours in 2024. The method used is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) analysis with data collection through observation and interviews on data during the period May - September 2023 and 2024. The research findings show that the highest OEE value reached 97.57% in September 2023, while the lowest value was recorded as 79.88% in August 2024, with an average OEE of 86.98%. Although the Availability value reached 99.26%, the Performance and Quality values were still below World Class standards. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of effective maintenance to improve machine performance and productivity, as well as the need for continuous improvement strategies in the maintenance process.
