The study population was all students in grade IV and V State Primary School Gombang, Mlati, Sleman, Yogyakarta, with total sampling technique obtained 42 respondents. Test data analysis using the Wilcoxon test results obtained p-value 0.001, which means that there is an effect of health education on hand washing techniques in students of State Primary School Gombang Mlati Sleman, Yogyakarta. It is hoped that primary students can apply the habit of washing hands properly, namely washing hands in 6 steps with soap and running water in their daily activities.

Abstract

Hospitals can be a source of transmission of microorganisms to patients during treatment. Infections acquired by patients while being hospitalized are called Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs), so HAIs are an indicator of the quality of care provided by the hospital. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of training on the knowledge, skills, and behavior of prevention of HAIs in nurses in the hospital. A quasi-experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group design on 140 nurses through purposive sampling was used. Data collection used questionnaires (r value 0.412-0.716> r table 0.294; Cronbach Alpha 0.753) and observation sheets. The Wilcoxon test was used to analyze the mean difference between groups because the data were not normally distributed. The mean difference between the control and intervention groups was analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the study obtained shows the effect of training on knowledge (p value <0.001), skills (p value <0.001), and behavior (p value = 0.041) on HAI prevention in the intervention group. In fact, in the control group, it was found that there was no effect of training on knowledge, skills and behavior of prevention of HAIs (p value> 0.005). There were differences in knowledge, skills, and behavior of HAI prevention between the intervention group and the control group (p value <0.001).

Abstract

As the population of elderly increases, the number of andropause also increases. Andropause is characterized by the decrease of testosteron level which is accompanied by hypogonadism symptoms. Many studies mentioned that decreased testosterone level will contribute to inflammation state, one of the cytokine is TNF-α, which then lead to many chronic inflammation disorders and influence the quality of life. Understanding the significant correlation between androgen and inflammation allows accurate consideration making in using androgen replacement therapy, therefore the quality of life will be improved significantly. This research was an analytical cross-sectional study. Subjects were recruited through random sampling at Denpasar in 2019. TNF-α serum level was measured by human immunoassay method. Andropause was measured by ADAM questionnaire and confirmed by total decreased testosterone serum level. Quality of life was measured by WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire which was then continued by bivariate and multivariate analysis to control the confounding variables. It was considered statistically significant if P value is more than 0.05. There were 60 elderly involved as research subjects consisting of 43 andropause cases and 17 non andropause cases. There was significant correlation between TNF-α serum and quality of life. This study also found that there was significant difference in quality of life between andropause and non andropause group. This study shows that there was significant correlation between TNF-α serum level and andropause with quality of life in elderly.

Abstract

Breast milk is a staple food for babies. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Indonesian Pediatric Association (IDAI) recommend that exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months be continued for up to 2 years. Daycare is one of the facilities provided to help mothers in providing breastfeeding while being at work. This study was undertaken to document the knowledge, attitude, and behavior among baby caregivers and identify the related factors influencing the behavior of baby caregivers in breast milk management. A cross sectional study was conducted to collect self-administered questionnaires from 60 baby caregivers in 2018. The validity test using the product moment obtained a value of 0.886 while the r table was 0.444, so this questionnaire was declared valid. Reliability test using Cronbach's alpha obtained a value of 0.660. Bivariate analysis test was performed using the Spearman’s rank correlation statistical test. Multiple regression models were used to analyze the association between knowledge, attitude, and breast milk management behaviors of baby caregivers. 42 of the respondents (70%) had a good level of knowledge on breast milk management, while 49 (81.66%) were good in terms of attitude, and 34 (56.77%) had satisfactory breast milk management behavior. Correlation of caregivers’ breast milk management knowledge, attitude, and behavior is statistically significant shown by the F-test result of 0,014 < 0,05. From the test results, it is found that there is an influence between knowledge and caregivers’ breast milk management behavior (p 0,000<0,05), and between knowledge and caregivers’ breast milk management attitude (p 0,001<0,05), but not between attitude and caregivers breast milk management behavior (p 0,395>0,05). The determining factors of baby caregivers’ breast milk management behavior was knowledge. Knowledge and attitude did not affect caregivers’ behavior in conducting breast milk management equally. Adequate knowledge is the major factor of baby caregivers from favorable breast milk management attitude and behavior.

Abstract

Syzygium aromaticum L. is a plant that contains essential oils. The essential oil of the clove plant is produced from the distillation of Syzygium aromaticum L.s, stalks, and leaves. The components of Syzygium aromaticum L. content are eugenol, eugenol acetate and cariophylene. The specifications of each part of the essential oil of Syzygium aromaticum L. (21.3%), eugenol (78-95%) using the Soxhlet method were about 47.57%. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity and effectiveness of the roll on formulation of Syzygium aromaticum L. essential oil. This study was experimental with the experimental design used was the posttest only controlled group. The research object was divided into two groups of treatment and control. The results showed that the roll on formulation of Syzygium aromaticum L. essential oil had a calming effect on mice. The most effective roll on formulation of Syzygium aromaticum L. essential oil is 7% concentration.
