Journal of Research and Educational Research Evaluation is a fully refereed international journal publishing original academic articles that promote educational processes and outcomes that are both well-informed and evidence-based. The journal is deliberately multi-disciplinary and broad in its scope, and addresses rigorous research and evaluation at all levels, and in all sectors and ages of education. The journal publishes papers which report results of: original research and evaluation studies; secondary analyses of existing (international) data sets; meta-analyses and reviews synthesizing evidence and guidelines for practice. Journal of Educational Research and Evaluation also invites articles about the use and evaluation of evidence in practice, theoretical, conceptual, methodological and substantive issues in research and evaluation, as well as position papers related to issues about evidence-based education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji faktor-faktor yang  mempengaruhi beliefs guru. Penelitian etnografi ini  melibatkan lima orang guru SMA di Kota Magelang. Data dikumpulkan dari silabus, rencana pembelajaran dan lembar kerja, rekaman kustioner, wawancara terstruktur, observasi kelas, dan stimulated recall. Sedangkan analisis data mengunakan model Spreadly (1980). Hasil analisis data menunjukkan pengalaman dan ekperimen dalam  pembelajaaran bahasa yang dilakukan oleh guru berperan dalam pembentukan belief. Pendidikan pada lembaga pendidikan tenaga kependidikan merupakan tahap awal dalam perkembangan professionalisme guru. Hal itu memberi perspektif baru dan membekali pengetahuan dan ketrampilanmengajar. Berkaitan dengan in-service program yang diikuti, hal itu tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan sebagai sumber pembentukan beliefs pada guru.The study explores the factors that affect teachers’ beliefs. This ethnography study involved 5 SMA teachers in Magelang Municipality. The data collected from syllabuses, lesson plans,and worksheets, recording, questionnaire, structured interviews, classroom observations, and stimulated recall. While data analysis used model of Spreadly (1980). Data analysis shows teachers’ prior experiences as well as experimentation of language learning appear to play asignificant role inthe formation of beliefs. Pre-service  education often provides the first step in the professional development of teachers. It exposes pre-service teachers to new perspectives as well as prepares them in knowledge and skills.In line with in-service program the teachers in this study did not identify it as being a significant source of influence for them.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah riset pendahuluan yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi Bahasa Inggris Bisnis yang perlu dipelajari dan diajarkan oleh mahasiswa dan dosen Politeknik Negeri Semarang (seterusnya disebut Polines), dan yang digunakan oleh stakeholders Perbankan Syariah di dunia kerja di Kota Semarang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Bahasa Inggris Bisnis sudah relevan dan skor rata-rata penggunaanBahasa Inggris Bisnis di dunia kerja adalah positif (0,74). Kebutuhan rata-rata Bahasa Inggris Bisnis adalah 1,50%. Enam topik bisnis Bahasa Inggris Bisnis yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh dunia kerja adalah Pertemuan Bisnis (1,65%), Menyambut Tamu Asing (1,63%), Bisnis  Korespondensi (1,54%), Permintaan (order) terkait denganPelanggan (1,46%), Menulis Dokumen (1,44%), dan Bisnis (1,30%). (104 kata).This research is a preliminary study aiming at identifying Business English needed to be learned by students, taught by lecturers Semarang State Polytechnic (hereinafter Polines), and used by stakeholders of Islamic Banking in the business world in the city of Semarang. The result of the present study showed that BE is relevant and the average score of the use of English in the business world is positive (+.74). The average need of Business English is 1.50%. Business English topics which are highly needed by the business world are Business Meeting (1.65%), Attending to Foreign Guests (1.63%), Correspondence (1.54%), Order related to Customers (1.46%); Writing Document (1.44%), and Business Trip (1.30%). EFFECTIVENESS OF TRAINING ON LIFE SKILL AND CHEMO-ENTREPRENEURSHIP BASED CHEMISTRY LEARNING FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS IN SEMARANG

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pelatihan desain keterampilan hidup dan pembelajaran berbasis CEP, (2) mengetahui efektivitas model pelatihan desain keterampilan hidup dan pembelajaran berbasis CEP. Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R & D) pendekatan dengan tahapan (1) melakukan studi pendahuluan, (2) merancang model pelatihan, (3) validasi model, (4) pengujian model, dan (5) menggambarkanakhir model. Ada 30 guru kimia SMA sebagai subyek uji model pelatihan. Pengukuran efektifitas model yang meliputi variabel: (1) kemampuan peserta pelatihan untuk merancang belajar kimia sebelum dan setelah pelatihan, (2) kemampuan peserta pelatihan untuk menerapkan belajar kimia berdasarkan keterampilan hidup dan CEP, (3) trainee ‘tanggapan untuk pelaksanaan pelatihan dan keterampilan pelatih. Kriteria Efektivitas ditentukan dengan membangunskala efektivitas berdasarkan hasil rata-rata pengukuran variabel. Teknik yang digunakan adalah pengumpulan data survey, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner, lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan penulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkanbahwa model pelatihan desain keterampilan hidup dan pembelajaran kimia berbasis CEP adalah efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas guru dalam melaksanakan  pembelajaran kimia. Dianjurkan untuk tim pelatihan penyedia bahwa model pelatihan dapat dikembangkan dalam skala yang lebih luas.This research aims to develop the training model of design of life skill and CEP based learning; (2) investigate the effectiveness of the training model of design of life skill and CEP based learning. This research used Research and Development (R&D) approach with stages of (1) conducting a preliminary study; (2) designing a training model; (3)  validating the model; (4) testing the model; and (5) describingthe final model. There were 30 high school chemistry teachers as the subject of test of the training model. Measurement of the model effectiveness included the variables: (1) ability of the trainees to design a chemistry learning before and after the training; (2) ability of the trainees to apply the chemistry learning based on life skill and CEP; (3) trainees’ responses to the implementation of training and skills of trainers. Effectiveness criteria were determined by constructing a scale of effectiveness based on the average results of measurements of variables. The used techniques of data collection were surveys, interviews, and documentation. The used instruments were questionnaires, observation sheets, interview guidelines, and the author. The results showed that the training model of design of life skill and CEP based chemistry learning was effective to improve the quality of teachers in implementing the chemistry learning. It isrecommended for training providers team that this training model can be developed within a wider scale.
