Abstract

Every catastrophe either the natural one, disease or that caused by the cruel human acts, shows a cosmic power. It follows the natural law. Speaking catastrophes caused by human faults or God’s plan, we however should reflect and interpret it in metaphysical assumptions. The problems of evil manifesting in the natural catastrophes and in the evil doings of human being are relevant to be discussed in order to find out what kind of metaphysical assumption is implied in the certain reflection and interpretation of such problems. The problems are often set against the faith of the existence of God. So, either the Theodicists or the anti-theodicists propose their own argumentations. In the last part the author tries to introduce a cosmology of post-modernism which leads us into a new insight to reflect and to interpret whether the catastrophe comes out due to the faults of human being or to the plan of God

Abstract

Spirituality of priesthood is so rich. It flows from Christ as the Priest himself. One side of priestly life is living out the suffering of Christ. Jesus Christ redeemed the world by his suffering on the cross, so does a priest; he is the witness of the redemption of Christ through perseverance to live his suffering. In this article I shall explore concrete experience of suffering of the priestly life from spiritual point of view. I regard that in priestly life suffer means love. To be perseverant in suffering means to be faithful in love toward God and people. Nothing worth for priest is but to serve God and his people. To serve means to suffer. Understanding of priestly life suggests that suffering does not designate something to avoid. Instead, suffering is the spiritual way toward promotion of redemption. Priestly life is worthwhile and choice worthy simply because it leads daily experience of suffering to salvation.

Abstract

Mystical theology is a theology of love which is rooted in “in Christ’s life”. The center of mystical experience is Christ himself especially his death on the cross and his resurrection. Mystical theology then will take someone into unity with Christ who was crucified, died and resurrected. This paper intends to dig the meaning of mystical theology which is based on mystical experience of Paul in II Corinthians (12:1-10) and to actualize its understanding to the Indonesian context. I try to make a comparison between Christian experience and the mystical experience of Bima in the tale of Dewa Ruci. Mystical theology is a theology that invites people to “get into life” through the path of suffering. It is not a picture about life that loves suffering, but that of a “love road”. By following the path of suffering, someone is brought to life.
