Abstract

Developmental problems that occur in toddlers are caused by the lack of stimulation given to them. This condition occurs due to a lack of parental knowledge about stimulation that is appropriate for the age of toddlers. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge about the stimulation of toddler development and child development at Posyandu Cempaka Letung Village in 2023. We conducted a cross-sectional study of 60 mothers and toddlers. They were recruited through a total sampling technique with the criteria of mothers who have toddler children, mothers who are willing to be respondents, and mothers who can read and write. Furthermore, the data will be analyzed using Somers'd test. The results of this study showed that there was a significant relationship between mothers' knowledge about stimulation and toddler development (P-value 0.004, gamma 0.842). This study confirms the relationship between mothers' knowledge about stimulation of toddler development and child development at Posyandu Cempaka, Letung Village in 2023. We suggest that it is important to improve mothers' knowledge of toddler development.

Abstract

Pneumonia is an acute infection that causes the lungs to become inflamed. Pneumonia is the main cause of death of children under five in the world. This disease accounts for 16% of all deaths of children under 5 years, which causes the deaths of 920,136 children under five, or more than 2,500 per day. If prevention is not carried out, there will be around 11 million child deaths worldwide by 2030. Prevention efforts are a component The most strategic way to eradicate pneumonia in toddlers consists of immunization and non-immunization prevention. Actions that are no less important are non-immunization prevention by carrying out preventive efforts such as improving nutrition with healthy nutrition, preventing pollution in the environment, and providing exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to look at the factors associated with the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers in the Batu Aji Community Health Center Working Area, Batam City in 2022. This research is an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The respondents in this study were 56 mothers of toddlers. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling, namely purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires and medical records. The results of statistical tests using Mann Whitney showed that of the 11 variables, 8 variables had a significant relationship with the incidence of pneumonia, while 3 variables, namely maternal age, maternal education, and family economic status, did not have a significant relationship with the incidence of pneumonia. It is hoped that health workers will carry out IMCI examinations to reach targets of diseases suffered by toddlers and provide health education about the factors that cause pneumonia, prevention, and treatment of pneumonia.

Abstract

Pregnancy demands increased energy and nutrients to support the growing fetus, making proper nutrition crucial for maternal and fetal health. Macronutrients like protein, fat, and carbohydrates are particularly important for providing energy and aiding in cell growth and development. This study seeks to understand how pregnant women in the Jenangan Subdistrict of Ponorogo Regency, Indonesia, consume macronutrients. A descriptive study in January 2024 in Jenangan Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency, was conducted with 40 participants. Using a 24-hour food recall questionnaire, the data were collected through two interviews with pregnant women by enumerators trained in Nutrition with a D3 degree. This approach aimed to ensure accurate data collection and minimize recall bias. Based on the analysis, macronutrient intake levels varies among participants. Approximately 22,5% had adequate protein intake, with 37,5% showing moderate intake, 20%% report in poor intake, and 20% had deficient intake. For fat consumption, 40% met recommended levels, 27,5% had moderate intake, 15% had poor intake, and 17,5 had deficient intake. Notably, carbohydrate intake was deficient in 97.5% of cases. The research results reveal that pregnant women in the Jenangan Subdistrict, Ponorogo Regency have moderate protein and fat intake levels, but are significantly lacking in carbohydrates. This underscores the importance of targeted nutritional interventions to improve maternal and fetal health in this population.

Abstract

Hemodilusi that occurs during pregnancy makes pregnant women tend to experience a decrease in hemoglobin levels of up to 10g/dl. This increases the risk of anemia in pregnant women. Guava juice (Psidium guajava) is known to contain iron and other important nutrients that can help increase hemoglobin levels. This systematic review uses the PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) method to evaluate the effectiveness of giving guava juice (Psidium guajava) to pregnant women in increasing hemoglobin levels. Literature searches were carried out using the PubMed and GoogleScholar databases with relevant keywords (Giving Guava Juice (Psidium guajava) to Anemic Pregnant Women to Increase Hemoglobin Levels), the systematically and gradually eliminated literature that did not meet the inclusion criteria and presented in the form of a PRISMA Diagram. From 21 pieces of literature that met the inclusion criteria, it was found that the administration of guava juice (Psidium guajava) could consistently increase hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. These studies also show that guava (Psidium guajava) can increase the iron intake needed during pregnancy. This systematic review concludes that giving guava juice (Psidium guajava) can effectively increase hemoglobin levels in pregnant women and this intervention can be used as a preventive, curative, and rehabilitative measure which is believed to have no long-term determental pharmacological effects for pregnant women. Recommendation can be used in future research to conduct larger and more controlled studies to validate the positive results that have been found in previous studies.
