Abstract

There is inner closeness between students and campus, because some students do activities on campus. Public space are the most widely used by students in activities. So, the availability of public space on campus is very necessary. The quantity and quality of public space on campus is a main indicator in shaping student behavior. The purpose of a public space is to support student activities from the academy aspect and soft skill activities. While the availability of public space in the Faculty of Architecture and Design has not been able to provide a maximum container for students both in terms of quality and quantity. In this study try to identify the patterns of public space by using the sociopetal and sociofugal parameters. The concept of sociofugal and sociopetal is an important indicator in testing the quality of public space. Ideally a good public space is dominated by sociofugal aspects because it prioritizes socializing and discussing activities. This study uses architectural methods of behavour mapping which later facilitate the process of observation in the field. Hopefully later with the knowledge gained can contribute ideas for the design of the quality of public space in the future.

Abstract

State-defense is an attitude and behavior that is imbued by a sense of love to the Republic of Indonesia which is based on Pancasila and the constitution of 1945. All citizens are entitled and must participate in an effort of defending the country. The fundamental consciousness to state-defense is the willingness to serve and to sacrifice in the defense-effort of the country. The concept of state-defense is interpreted physically by taking up arms against the enemy, while a non-physical interpretation of the concept may defined as any attempts to defend the state by raising nationalism, which is consciously living as a citizen of the nation and the state, imparting passion for the country and play an active role in advancing the nation. UPN “Veteran” of East Java, as the state-defence campus, carry out the principal of state-defense into the educational curriculum. The Area Arrangement for Integrated Trainings & Education of State-Defense in UPN “Veteran” of East Java is the implementation of that principle. These area arrangements are used as the facility of state-defense basic training and education for university students, lecturers and employees as well as the general public. The area arrangements proposal preceded by the location survey to identify the potential and the threat of the area, which is then followed by configuring the site-planning concepts and generating planning images for the training area.

Abstract

Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur (University of National Development “Veteran” of East Java, subsequently referred to as UPN “Veteran” of East Java in this paper) has several signature objects within the perimeter of the university’s environment, such as physical objects (tools, things, places) and non-physical objects (action, activity, information). Those signature objects can be visualized into symbol or pictogram that signify the ideas and simplify the physical shape of the real object. Pictograms can serves as a visual language to communicate a message or information that will be easily understood by the audience. One optimization form for the use of pictogram is as the signage in the implementation of visual communication media in the UPN "Veteran" environment of East Java. The method used in this design is a qualitative method by finding relevant literature, collecting primary and secondary data, analyzing the data using the TOWS Matrix table to determine the Unique Selling Proposition, and analyzing the insight of the target audience to develop creative solutions. From the results of the TOWS Matrix analysis, a Unique Selling Proposition was obtained in the form of grouping pictograms into several groups of objects, namely Vision and Mission of UPN "Veterans" of East Java, UPN "Veterans" of East Java’s Objectives and Strategies, State Defense Values, Faculties and Study Programs in the UPN "Veteran" of East Java, Student Activity Unit in the UPN" Veteran "East Java environment, and Facilities in the UPN "Veteran" of East Java’s environment. While from the results of the target audience's insights analysis, the creative solutions was found through the usage of graphic elements in pictogram designs, namely elements of color and color taken from the distinctive characteristics of UPN "Veteran" East Java.

Abstract

Advertising, which is part of the creative economy, is believed by the Indonesian government as one of the sources of strength that can improve the quality of the country's economy by 2025. The advertising industry is also part of the creative economy sector which has the most gross domestic product (GDP) growth high. In order for the creative industry in Indonesia to grow and have high competitiveness, it is important for the government, especially the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristek Dikti) to support the development of education that is capable of producing human resources who are ready to develop a creative economy in Indonesia. One effort that can be done by the Government in improving the quality of learning is to provide research assistance and publishing textbooks that are needed by students and students in the field of Visual Communication Design. If the quality of their learning increases, it certainly will have a big positive impact, one of which is to make graduates in the Visual Communication Design field have good scientific quality to build creative industrial sectors in Indonesia. Books that discuss advertising have circulated quite a lot in bookstores. However, these books discuss advertising not in the context of the implementation of advertising design in the field of Visual Communication Design. Thus, students of Visual Communication Design need a book that discusses the roles and tasks of practitioners of Visual Communication Design in the more concrete field of advertising. So this book “Mendesain Iklan” is expected to be a guide as well as a reference for students of Visual Communication Design, especially in designing advertisements.

Abstract

Rejowinangun village in Blitar Regency has the slogan "Village of UMKM (MSME-Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises)". This village has been a home of many MSMEs which provide jobs for local residents and ready to sale food production. This is in line with the development of tourism in the village of Plosorejo, Kademangan sub-district, Blitar Regency, namely Kampung Coklat, which increases the number of MSMEs in the Kademangan District area. Rejowinangun village is one of the main supplier of Kampung Coklat. Unfortunately, this increase was not accompanied by an increase in sales. The number of MSMEs is increasing but the level of sales is declining, due to the increase in MSMEs which offer the same products as that of the current MSMEs, while the marketing area is not expanding. The lack of mastering good marketing techniques, as well as the lack of technological knowledge to do electronic marketing are said to be the cause, so that these small business operators can only rotate in the area where the MSMEs are established. On the other hand, these MSMEs have rather poor method in terms of packaging design, which are less attractive and do not provide more information for prospective buyers. Another cause is that local tourists or prospective consumers have no information about where to buy products directly from local residents, apart from the tourism place there, even though the prices offered by MSMEs are so much cheaper than that of in the tourism galleries or outlets. This community service scheme aimed to help the MSMEs in Rejowinangun village to increase their revenue by providing better and more attractive product designs and expand their marketing strategy to make use of digital marketing. New designs have been created and a web-based application has been developed to help MSMEs reach a broader market outside their village, or even outside Blitar Regency. After the deployment of the new designs and the use of digital marketing, they are still being monitored periodically about the development of their product marketing results.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to build information on spatial maps (Geographic Information System-GIS) on horticulture commodities. Users of the Mobile GIS (MoGIS) application are observers of agricultural issues, agricultural services, industrial institutions, professionals related to agricultural problems from upstream to downstream. This moGIS is expected to help every region that has superior products of horticultural crops, where its data will be integrated with moGIS with the compass traveler technique that becomes the system of a region on the map. The specific target in this study is to present horticulture information in the sub-district of Wonosalam, Jombang, East Java by using moGIS. If each horticultural data of each region can be integrated with moGIS, users will know the potential of superior crops in the area which is expected to improve production and better quality, thus making the region and its produce are growing and better known by the community. The activity plan in developing this model are: (1) Analysis of the need for research equipment and survey data on locations, while data collection includes horticultural data and land photo data so that plants that have grown and developed in the area can be identified, (2) Mobile spatial-based system designs which includes the user interface and performance of the data system and interface, (3) coding and system data, (4) trial and (5) Maintenance or improvement to expand the data system. The result is a working app in beta version available for download in the Android marketplace.

Abstract

Improving the integrated management system of infrastructure and facilities is one of the service objectives of the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur, the implementation is often still in the procedure manual stage, for example students must sign attendance as proof that the student is present and attending the lecture. Problems arise when recording UTS / UAS implementation where attendance is guided by a minimum of 75% with procedure manuals Students cannot see openly the number of attendance at the lecture, and not a few supervisors who use attendance as activist assessors in the class, with manual procedures for cheating opportunities in signatures the presence of the procedure manual by students at potentially very large lectures. Thus the need for an information system that can help resolve these problems. So in this study, it is intended to build a Student Attendance Mobile Information System (SIMAMA) which is useful for recording and displaying student attendance reports as an effort to improve integrated and computerized facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

Today, implementation of information technology has expanded to various fields including education. Implementation of information technology in education has evolved from the most basic systems to complex systems. In education, there are much research about Implementation of information technology, start from technology itself to user impact and society. The biometric presence system is one of the implementations of technology that has implemented in several government and private institutions. Biometric presence systems besides using fingerprints can also use faces. Presence systems using faces require simple hardware such as digital cameras and integrated systems. Face based presence usually uses a camera that is directly attached to a presence device, and the face must be directly in front of the camera. The face will be recognized using surveillance cameras to replace ordinary presence cameras. A face detection system added to support the initial process in face recognition. Presence using this surveillance camera will be tested in a study room at the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jawa Timur, and will be analyzed about the accuracy and precision of the system. Based on the experiments that have been done, face recognition performance is 72.40%. This accuracy is included in the medium category. This result is still not optimal. The optimization process needs to be done in future research, by analyzing system weaknesses, modification of facial recognition methods, and pre-processing techniques for face data.
