Abstract

A Prophetic hadith states that the best of people were in my time, and then the time after that, and then the time after that. Of course, it is a question for Muslims or non-Muslims, why the Prophet stated it. The above statement can certainly be seen from the ethics and academic reasoning of the post-Prophet generation. Maturity in arguing and accepting criticism is seen in the legal opinion of Ulama, especially in scientific ethics when there are differences of opinion with mutual respect and respect and usually concluded with a sentence if it is right then it is my mazhab and if it is wrong please leave it.

Abstract

History proves that Islam spread throughout the archipelago when the Hindu-Buddhist kingdom was still in power due to the work of da'I, who were members of certain tariqas. The principle of tolerance of the adherents of thariqah succeeded in attracting the interest of the people of the archipelago to the teachings of Islam, and they converted to Islam. It is interesting to investigate the multicultural dimension of thariqah further so that it can be used to describe the teachings of tarekat concerning Islamic proselytization in a multicultural society. Therefore, this research aims to reveal the multicultural dimension in the teachings of the Haq NaqsyabandiThariqah. The research is conducted with a philosophical approach to the teachings of thariqah, which is critically described through historical data and the most important manuscripts of thariqah. The research shows that every sect of thariqah has a teaching of tolerance in a multicultural society.

Abstract

Almost all Christians believe that the satisfaction rendered by the death of Christ was in itself enough for the salvation of humanity. Yet, there is no consensus among Christians on the question of the beneficiaries of Christ’s atoning sacrifice. The question of whether Christ’s suffering and death benefited all humanity or only an elected few has triggered much debate among Christian scholars. The different responses to the question of the extent of the atonement can be categorized broadly into two, namely; particular atonement (that is, the view that Jesus Christ died only for the elect) and universal atonement (that is, the idea that Christ died for all persons). The significance of the debate and the rise in interest in this subject in recent times has prompted this literature-based research which critically reviews and analyzes publications (including books, journal articles, and dissertations) on the extent of Christ’s atonement to see how one might make meaning of the ongoing debate. The paper first presents a survey of the evidence adduced for both views; it then considers Calvin’s view on the subject and ends with the author’s position that the atonement is unlimited in scope in that the offer of salvation is for all people; yet it is limited in effect because only those who believe in Jesus are truly saved.

Abstract

An internship programme is a great way to connect what is learnt in class with actual work experience. Existing research has underscored the positive contribution of internship to the educational process and career outcomes among students. The internship programme for students of Faculty of Art, KNUST is a requirement or considered as a compulsory 15 credit hour course for the award of undergraduate degree. As such it is a vital component of the curriculum. Nonetheless, empirical literature on the dynamics of the internship programme at the university is sparse. Without insight into these dynamics however, there will be lack of information that could inform policy and continuous improvement of the programme. To bridge this gap, this paper seeks to analyze the internship experiences of students to determine what factors seem to create the greatest perceived value. The study employed the descriptive exploratory study design approach. Data was obtained from a total of 376 students of the Faculty of Art through the use of questionnaire designed in open and close ended patterns and focus discussions. The statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) computer package was used for data analysis, while descriptive statistical tools such as frequency and percentage were used to analyze the facts sought from the questionnaire. The students described a variety of skills learned during the internship including mastering the use of some equipment, software, and report writing. About 80% of the participants indicated that the internship programme was important and linked the classroom work to real work environment. All the students regardless of their experiences indicated they had value for the internship which they believe will play a role in their future career objectives. On the other hand, some of the students had some unfavourable experiences including inadequate work space, provision of inadequate PPEs, boring and difficult tasks. Others were engaged in other duties that were not related to their field of studies, all of which could potentially influence the perception of students.

Abstract

This research seeks to map out the expressions of the Banyumas Muslim community in responding to the dynamics of state problems in post-reformation with the Big Five theory (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neurotism). This research not only maps the potential involvement of Islamic civil society, but also contributes an important perspective as an effort to stabilize society and its various social groups. The method of collecting data was by distributing purposive questionnaires collecting 165 people. All of them consisted of various Islamic community organizations. The reliability used test-retest reliability, based on Friedman's theory with the lowest limitation of 0.90. The validity used direct validity, which is based on the development of the Big Five theory by Kathrin Ackermann, with moderate adjustments and concrete adaptations, thus it can be used operationally. The results of the study show that on the one hand, they have the character of extraversion (E) which has a more conservative attitude, encourages acceptance of hierarchy, and has more high trust in institutionalized matters. But on the other hand, they tend to be openness to experience (O) characters who have a critical attitude towards political, social values, norms and authority.
