Abstract

One of the key challenges facing Christianity in contemporary Africa is ineffective discipleship. The African church has won many converts in recent times and yet, the continent is among the least performing continents in terms of socio-economic development. The reason for this observation is that many African Christians consider Christianity as a religion of the heart and consequently, do not care so much about what they do in the public arena. In a context like this, Paul’s concept of the transformed life (explained in Romans 12:1) has the potential of correcting misconceptions about Christianity and empowering African Christians to engage the public sphere with their faith. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a textual analysis of Romans 12:1 to develop Christian ethics for (Africa) believers. The paper used a literature-based research approach and collected data from such sources as commentaries, articles and dissertations. The main thesis is that living a sacrificial life involves a total dedication to God in response to his gracious mercies manifested toward the believer. The paper contributes to Christian ethics, Pauline studies and African Christianity.

Abstract

Indonesia is a pluralistic country and has much plurality. With this plural, it seems to be a "double-eyed" reality that we must be able to address correctly. On the one hand, diversity will have a positive value which will become a blessing and even a social force when we stick to the four pillars of national consensus, which contain the fundamental conception of the nation that can sustain the greatness, integrity, glory, and diversity of Indonesia. But at the same time, the existence of plurality and the reality of plurality can also have a negative value, provoking potential chaos and conflict between communities in Indonesia. Higher education is the last bastion of the nation's children in obtaining formal education, so higher education has a vital role in instilling religious moderation so that an understanding will be formed that in the context of diversity, it is necessary to uphold good values to avoid intolerant, discriminatory behavior, not fanatically concerned with the interests of their group, and think extreme. Religious moderation in PTKI is to build mutual understanding from an early age between students with different religious beliefs to avoid sectarianism and be wise in acting and processing information.

Abstract

Islamism is an ideology and a movement that seeks to build an Islamic order in the form of an Islamic state and the enforcement of sharia law. However, in Indonesia during the democratization period in the early 2000s, many Islamic organizations, including Islamic parties and Islamic movements, liberated themselves from hiding and even opened their organizational philosophies to accommodate wider issues and concerns. While retaining their Islamic identity, some Islamic groups are turning towards the secularization of their goals and objectives as a means of adapting to the changing political environment. Political analysts refer to this development as post-Islamism. This change in attitude is to some extent due to the fact that Islamic legal institutions have become more prominent since the reform era. While retaining their Islamic identity, Islamic groups are turning towards the secularization of their goals and objectives as a means of adapting to the new political environment and changing the agenda of most Islamic political movements by way of Islamizing Indonesian values. That's why the color of legislation in Indonesia is more Islamic.

Abstract

One of the identifiable resources that an industry can utilize as a driver for survival is managerial competence. Although literature is replete with evidence on this subject matter, no research work has been conducted on the relationship between managerial competence and performance of the traditional metal fabrication industries in Ghana. To address this information gap, this study explored the work place practices of three traditional metal craft industries in Kumasi, Ghana with managerial competence as a moderating factor. An inductive research approach based on qualitative research methodology was adopted. The target population was 300 people of which a sample size of 171 respondents was selected. Data were collected through the use of questionnaire designed with open and close-ended responses as well as personal observations conducted using a well-designed observation guide with clear attributes and angles of observation. The results showed that all the study participants interviewed exhibited various levels of operational competence of knowledge, technical skills, experience and character attitude needed to enhance the performance and day-to-day administration of their work. They also had good conflict resolution abilities and good decision-making skills, as well as an excellent apprenticeship system embodied in a succession plan. On the other hand, the study identified several factors that impacted negatively on the operations of their work including the inability to create a conducive work environment for high performance, poor equipment and tool maintenance culture, lack of proper PPEs, poor record keeping, poor innovation and creativity skills, and nonexistence of a system for the acquisition and utilization of modern equipment and technology. These limitations suggest lack of management competence. The study considers this as quite worrisome and recommends for the needed support from both governmental and NGOs, to safeguard the survival of the metal craft industry in Ghana.

The Phillips Marrying content analysis technique was used for data analysis. Coding data with the Atlas.ti application. The results of the study indicate that the types of learning media utilized during the pandemic are synchronous and asynchronous. Jitsi Meet, Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams are examples of synchronous learning media. The asynchronous media utilized are learning management systems such as e-learning in educational institutions, Google Classroom, and Edmodo, as well as other supporting media such as Google Forms, Kahoot, Quizziz, Microsoft PowerPoint, YouTube, and videos. During a pandemic, there were several issues with the use of internet-based learning media, including inadequate devices, poor internet infrastructure, and the inability of students' parents to pay. The use of learning media for distance education must take several factors into account for learning to proceed smoothly.
