Abstract

Biomass studies using combination of destructive and non-destructive sampling were conducted in the tropical rain forest od Dustum Aro, Jambi, In non-destructive sampling, biomass densiry was estimated using algometric equation from Brawn (1997) mainly for trees with diameter at breast height greater than 5 cm.

Abstract

This paper present a correlation between human capital and economic grawrh. There are two important points concerning this correlation, First, human capital should be put on the same priorih as other factor in economic growth. Second, human capital has a significant impact on the economic growth.

Abstract

Wood specimens, 50 x 25 x 15 mm were impregnated in styrene and vinil acetate solutions at four concentration levels, using tertbutyl hydroperoxide as acatalyst. The specimens were dried at 60°C for 48 hours after which the solution was polymerized in situ. All specimens, including untreated specimens as control and specimens impregnated with Impralit CKB, were exposed to monoculture a brown rot fungus Tyromyces palustris, a brown rot fungus for 3 months. All wood polymer composite (WPC) specimens obviously showed higher resistance compared with the control. At four concentration levels, WPC of tusam showed excellent result with weight loss value less than specimens treated with Impralit CKB. WPC of karet (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg) and sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria) showed good resistance at high styrene concentration level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan (1) metode pemecahan dormansi benih dan (2) menentukan fungi patogenik yang berasosiasi dengan benih. Pemecahan dormansi dengan perendaman benih dalam asam sulfat 65-75% selama 25-35 menit sangat efektif untuk benih no. 3, kurang efektif untuk benih no. 4, tidak efektif untuk benih no. 2 dan mematikan benih no. 1. Akan tetapi untuk semua tingkat kemasakan, makin tinggi konsentrasi asam sulfat atau makin lama perendaman benih dalam asam sulfat, makin tinggi daya berkecambah benih. Terdapat interaksi antara tingkat kemasak-an benih dengan konsentrasi asam sulfat. Metode pemecahan dormansi dengan skarifikasi memakai “sample seed huller” dengan tiga kali pelewatan cukup efektif untuk benih no. 2, no. 3 dan no. 4. Perlakuan yang sama mengakibatkan semua benih no. 1 menjadi rusak. Perendaman benih dalam air mendidih selama 24 jam juga efektif, kecuali untuk benih no. 1 yang menjadi rendah daya berkecambahnya sesudah perlakuan tersebut. Pemecahan dormansi dengan penempatan benih pada 400 C selama 24 jam kurang efektif. Fungi patogenik yang berasosiasi dengan benih adalah : Aspergillus sp., Penicillium sp., Colletotrichum sp., Pythium sp. dan satu jenis yang tidak dikenal (species X), menyebabkan kerusakan pada benih.

Abstract

Main objective of this research was to identify dominant factors, which determined management system of Repong Damar (SPRD). SPRD was strategically complex and dynamic. Through system approach with SWOT analysis, AHP and Liker Scale, this research identified its dominant factors. Dominant factors, which determined SPRD goals, are land suitability, ecosystem functions, biodiversity, household economy insurance, trading practice and investment inputs. Furthermore, SPRD sustainability was supported by inheritance institution, indigenous knowledge’s, and ownership, which constitute social status symbol. Development strategy of SPRD was determined by community organizations strength and self-resilience, availability of road infrastructure, and law enforcement on farmers rights.

Abstract

Spora cendawan mikoriza arbuskula (CMA) telah dikoleksi dan diisolasi dari berbagai jenis tanah masam berfikasi P-tinggi di Indonesia. Lima isolate CMA lokal telah berhasil diperoleh dari spora tunggal dengan teknik “test tube culture” dan dikembangkan-biakan dengan sistem “open pot culture”. Kelima isolate tersebut adalah Acaulospora delicata (EJ-01). Acaulospora tuberculata (INDO-2), Glomus manihotis (INDO-1), Glomus mosseae (PAL-03) dan Entrophospora colombiana (LAM-36). Kelima biakan isolate CMA tersebut, dipelihara dengan tanaman inang Kudzu pada media zeolit yang diperkaya nutrisi. Dengan mempelajari berbagai tipe media, ukuran partikel, pH dan komposisi nutrisi, isolate CMA terpilih telah berhasil dapat diperbanyak dalam skala industri dengan menggunakan inang sorghum. Dengan tehnik pra-inokulasi di persemaiaan maka penggunaan mikoriza dalam skala besar di bidang kehutanan dapat direalisasikan.
