IJAL (Indonesian Journal of Academic Librarianship) is the official journal of APPTIS JATIM (Asosiasi Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Islam Jawa Timur). This is a peer review open access journal dedicated to publish high quality research articles in academic librarianship. IJAL publishes articles that focus on the information profession. IJAL serves as a vehicle for authors to present analytical essays (conceptual paper) and research findings (research paper) on their concerns in an information profession facing many challenges. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the level of productivity and collaboration of writers in the agricultural library journal Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia (JPP) during the 2017-2021 publication period. The method used in this study uses bibliometric analysis, namely by examining each article and recording all information related to the profile of the article (such as the number of articles and references used), noting the names of the authors along with the title of the article written in each issue number, as well as record the agency of origin and profession of the author. The articles in this study started with the issue of Vo 26 No. 1 of 2017 up to volume 30 number 1 of 2021 with a total of 50 articles. Based on the research results, it is known that the value of collaboration is at a value of 0.48, namely C less than 0.5, which means that articles written individually in the journal are still larger than articles written in collaboration. Meanwhile, regarding the productivity of the author, it can be seen from the year, namely in 2020 with a total of 23 authors. While the name of the most prolific writer is Heryati Suryantini with the number of articles produced around 6 articles.

Abstract

This article explores the role of chatbot technology as a forefront solution in enhancing the quality of library reference services. Confronting the need for innovation, particularly in providing efficient and responsive services for modern library users, chatbot technology becomes the focal point of the research. The background of the study highlights fundamental changes in the context of library services, where the development of information and communication technology emerges as a primary driver. The research aims to investigate the implementation of chatbots as a solution to improve the effectiveness of library reference services. Using the library research method, the study involves the analysis of literature and information sources related to the development and application of chatbot technology in the library environment. The results indicate that chatbot technology can significantly enhance the responsiveness and availability of library reference services. By offering instant and efficient access to information, chatbots weave a closer connection between the library and users. The conclusion of this article affirms that the integration of chatbots not only enriches the user experience but also propels the achievement of library goals in navigating the challenges of the ever-evolving digital era. Thus, chatbots are not just an innovation but also a superior tool capable of elevating library services to a higher level.

Abstract

This article explains how librarians align their roles with the evolution of information technology in managing libraries. Information is becoming a digital native consumption which requires librarians to innovate so that library information can be accessed easily. Librarians also need to have knowledge of technology to make it easier to transfer data from physical to file form. This article focuses on methods for facing the digital era to develop library information needed by the information society. The research method uses case studies and literature studies referenced from previous research. The aim of this research is to introduce the image of digital librarians and the attitudes of librarians in facing the challenges of current technology.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang bagaimana cara pengoptimalisasi layanan perpustakaan sehingga memberikan dampak yang baik dalam meningkatkan minat baca siswa di zaman dimana anak-anak banyak yang kecanduan dengan gadgetnya, sehingga perpustakaan dapat menjadi tempat yang nyaman dan digemari oleh anak-anak peserta didik. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yaitu prosedur penelitian yang dapat menghasilkan data deskriptif berupa kata-kata tertulis maupun lisan dari orang-orang dan perilaku yang diamati. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pertama, pelayanan yang diberikan oleh perpustakaan adalah bimbingan, referensi, buku-buku ilmu pengetahuan yang berupa fiksi dan non fiksi, dan fasilitas yang lengkap dan nyaman. Kedua, pengembangan yang dilakukan adalah dengan terus memperbarui buku bacaan yang ada di perpustakaan sehingga menimbulkan rasa penasaran pada anak. Ketiga, bimbingan yang dilakukan oleh pustakawan adalah dengan terus mengingatkan peserta didik dengan memberikan jadwal setiap hari perkelasnya.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the strategy for using TikTok social media as a promotional tool in the Airlangga University Library. The research method uses qualitative and case study methods. The focus of the research is the strategy for using TikTok social media as a promotional tool at the Airlangga University Library. The sampling technique chosen was Non-Probability Sampling, determining informants using purposive sampling, namely 2 TikTok social media management officers with 1 TikTok social media user, 6 TikTok social media users Airlangga University Library. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. Airlangga University Library has succeeded in implementing the strategy of using TikTok social media as a means of promotion well with the strategy of (1) sharing TikTok video links on other social media which has increased engagement and disseminated information more widely. (2) collaborating with students as video talent, making videos more interesting and for contributing and learning. (3) Use of music and hashtags that are currently viral, attract attention, create fun transitions, and increase the potential for content to go viral. (4) upload videos at night. that upload times can affect engagement levels and viewership. (5) Use of live, playlist, like, comment, save and pinned features to help users search for and receive information efficiently. So, it can be concluded that the strategy of using TikTok social media by the Airlangga University Library has had a positive impact in expanding reach, increasing participation, and conveying library information in an interesting and relevant way for students.
