Abstract

Tennis sport is gaining popularity among students at the University of Limpopo. However, compliance with sports nutrition guidelines by these athletes remains unknown. To evaluate the adherence of tennis athletes to sports nutrition guidelines. A purposive sampling technique was used to recruit 30 affiliated tennis athletes representing the University team. Ethical approval was obtained from TREC while consent was signed in written form by the athletes. Nutrients intake was collected using a 24-hour-recall questionnaire on three different days, validated with FFQ. Weight and height were collected to calculate nutritional requirements. Dietary data were analysed using SAMRC FoodFinder (v3) and averages were exported into the SPSS (v28). Descriptive statistics were used to establish compliance. Males predominate (53%) over females. Athletes were aged 20.3(±1.1) yrs. Half of athletes (50%) participated in tennis sport for ≤ 1 year. Most athletes attended tennis 3 – 6 times a week, once a day, for 2 – 3 hours. Most athletes relied on social media for nutrition information. The BMI was optimal (21.8±2.8 kg/m2 versus 21.1±1.8 kg/m2 for females and males respectively). Males consumed energy of 27±9.0 kcal/kg/day compared to females (24±8.0 kcal/kg/day). CHO (3.2 g/kg/day females and 3.6 g/kg/day males) and protein (0.7 g/kg/day females and 1.0 g/kg/day males) intakes were also consumed. Fat consumption was optimal for both females (0.6 g/kg/day) and males (0.7 g/kg/day). The dietary practices of the tennis athletes at the University of Limpopo are not in compliance with the sports nutrition guidelines.

Abstract

The lack of teaching materials for Pencak Silat and several movements in the Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) textbook is needed by teachers. This research aims to produce a Student Worksheet (LKPD) for PJOK Pencak Silat based on QR codes for 7th-grade students and assist PJOK teachers in facilitating PJOK learning, specifically in Pencak Silat. The method used in this research is Research and Development, using the Borg and Gall method. The subjects of this study were 7th-grade students in junior high school. The research instruments used were media assessment, material assessment, and teacher assessment. Based on the results of the assessment of the QR code-based LKPD for PJOK Pencak Silat by media experts, subject experts, and PJOK teachers, it obtained feasibility values of 89.3%, 80%, and 83.3% with the criteria of Very Feasible, Feasible, and Very Feasible, with an average assessment of 84.2%. Based on the description, it can be concluded that the QR code-based LKPD for PJOK Pencak Silat developed by the researchers is highly feasible to use. The researcher also tested the reliability of the Pencak Silat LKPD instrument using the K-R 20 formula and obtained a result of r11 0.864, which is greater than the r-table value of 0.234. This research resulted in a QR code-based LKPD for PJOK Pencak Silat that is suitable for use and can help PJOK teachers facilitate PJOK learning, particularly in the Pencak Silat subject.

Abstract

The training process in developing high-performance athletes is still not optimal as only 3 out of 10 athletes have achieved success. The purpose of this research is to analyze 10 athletes' basic forehand strokes using selected instruments to identify the reasons behind their lack of success in performing the fundamental movements. The research design is descriptive, employing a theory-based approach to collect, analyze, and present the gathered data. This study is quantitative in nature, with a sample size of 10 athletes. A practical test instrument was used for the analysis. The results of the research show the analysis of basic forehand stroke skills, including the initial posture, execution, and final posture, among the athletes at El-Jilany Club in Tuban Regency in 2022. Overall, the analysis indicates that the athletes' basic forehand stroke skills are satisfactory. However, there are still some athletes who demonstrate low skill levels in execution and final posture. The novelty of this research lies in the use of a practical test instrument selected by the researcher to analyze the basic forehand stroke skills of high- performance athletes. Furthermore, the study provides insights into the analysis of basic forehand stroke skills among successful athletes in a specific club, serving as a reference for athlete development in the same or other clubs.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the level of anxiety among futsal referees officiating matches in the 14th West Java Provincial Sports Week 2022. The research method used a quantitative descriptive approach. Data collection was done using the Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT) instrument distributed through Google Forms. The subjects of this study were futsal referees participating in the West Java Provincial Sports Week 2022, totaling 14 individuals. The research findings revealed that the level of anxiety among the referees fell into the low category at 20%, the moderate category at 73%, and the high category at 7%. This indicates that the majority (73%) of the futsal referees in the Provincial Sports Week experienced moderate anxiety. From these results, it can be inferred that the majority of the referees on duty had a moderate level of anxiety, which can be attributed to the certification level held by the referees, as 13 of them were nationally certified referees.
