Abstract

Renewable energy application using Photovoltaic (PV) is developed as a conversion from solar energy into electrical energy. PV produces output power according to irradiation and temperature conditions. PV has a Maximum Power Point or MPP based on P-V characteristic curve. In certain conditions, PV has an unstable output power then the accuracy of the power generated is not maximum. MPPT method with conventional control is not optimal to resolves power inaccuracies in the system. When the system has a circuit problem, the conventional power converter will be damage. To achieve accuracy and maximize PV output, the Maximum Power Point method will find MPP. Using MPPT Fuzzy Type-2 method on the converter can reliably overcome the inaccuracies and tracking speed of PV power. Full Bridge Converter topology is used as a safety circuit with a high-frequency isolation transformer. Implemented on MATLAB/Simulink software, Simulation results in Model 1 show that the average power accuracy with Fuzzy Type-2 is 91.40% compared to Fuzzy Type-1 with an average power accuracy of 80.64%. In Model 2, Fuzzy Type-2 is 87.63% compared to Fuzzy Type-1 of 77.93%. MPPT method using fuzzy type-2 is better than using fuzzy type-1 in terms of power accuracy. Keywords: full bridge converter, fuzzy type-2, MATLAB/Simulink, maximum power point tracking, photovoltaic.

Abstract

Currently, many image analysis methods have been developed on X-Ray of scoliotic patients. However, segmentation of spinal curvature is still a challenge, and needs to be improved. In this research, we proposed a semi-automatic spinal image segmentation of scoliotic patients from X-Ray images. This method is divided into 2 steps: preprocessing and segmentation process. A conversion process from RGB to grayscale and CLAHE (Contrast Limited Adequate Histogram Equalization) method was used in image preprocessing. The active contour method was used for the segmentation process. The result shows that segmentation of spinal X-ray images of scoliotic patients using active contour method interactively, can give better results. The average of ME and RAE values are 12.98% and 26.75 %. instead of using the interactive region splitting method which gets 21.17% and 89.27%. Keywords: active contour, interactive segmentation, pre-processing, scoliosis.

Abstract

In a battery set, there is always a voltage difference caused by charging and discharging. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the condition of the battery or State of Charge (SOC) so that it is in a balanced state between the batteries. Unbalanced battery conditions result in decreased performance of the battery. For that we need a balancing circuit that works actively with the help of a DC-DC converter. DC-DC converters generally have a principle like a buck-boost converter to increase and decrease the output voltage, however the output still has a fairly large ripple in the waveform. Therefore, the CUK converter is used which is a development of the buck-boost converter topology, where the output of this CUK converter has smaller ripples because it uses two capacitors and two inductors. Of the various methods used to adjust the duty cycle of the CUK converter, a precise and accurate algorithm is needed to overcome the instability of the converter output. The method used to adjust the duty cycle uses the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) algorithm as the development of the Fuzzy method. The system is implemented using MATLAB Simulink software. The simulation results show that the output of the CUK converter with the ANFIS method has a faster response speed reaching a set point of 1.95 × 10-4 seconds and the accuracy of the output voltage with ANFIS is 99.94% while the accuracy of the output converter current using ANFIS is 65.7%.Keywords: ANFIS, balancing, battery, CUK converter, state of charge (SOC).15

Abstract

In order to develop renewable energy, it also needs to enhance the developing of supporting elements. For example, lithium-ion batteries as a component of energy storage. Lithium-ion batteries (Li-ion) have been chosen as energy storage devices for portable equipment, unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and grid storage systems. But there is a problem such as the process of charging the battery for UAV. Conventional converters used in those chargers have disadvantages such as limited power, lower voltage gain and also high current stress. Therefore, such converters are not efficient to be used for charging the battery. This paper proposes a cascaded bidirectional buck-boost converter for charging the battery. This converter can be operated bidirectional and have better rated power and higher voltage gain. Also, this topology has the same polarity with the input. From the test results, the converter can work in either forward or backward power flow. This converter is working in both buck or boost mode and has an efficiency of 83% in buck mode and 81% for boost mode. The charging process is about 83 minutes until SOC approximately 90 – 95.Keywords: battery charger, cascaded bidirectional buck – boost converter, constant current, li-ion introduction.

Abstract

Energy dependency is increasing along with the increase in population growth rate, while the fossil energy is decreasing. Alternative energy such as solar energy is one solution to provide renewable energy, but solar energy cannot provide an intense supply of energy. Therefore, the equipment needs an energy storage. The battery has important role in energy storage with the performance of the battery that need an attention. The method and type of battery used  must be considered to maintain battery lifetime and  reduce overcharging. The purpose of this research is to understand the process of fast charging the CC-CV (Constant Current Constant Voltage) method on Lithium-Ion battery which is expected to reduce battery overcharging. In this method, the current is maintained constant until certain conditions then followed by constant voltage to prevent overcharging. The voltage from the solar panel is very high, voltage reduction is needed as the charging voltage for the battery. The DC-DC Converter used is Buck Converter which is given Fuzzy Type-2 algorithm to maintain a current of 10 Ampere during CC conditions and  a voltage of 14.4 Volt during CV conditions with switch of CC conditions to CV conditions on SoC 99.25%.Keywords: battery charging, buck converter, CC-CV, lithium-ion, type-2 fuzzy.

Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic is one of the biggest challenges that each country around the world has to overcome. This pandemic has affected a lot of countries in many sectors including Indonesia. During the year 2020 when Covid-19 cases rise in Indonesia, the poverty rate has also increased by 0.97% meaning almost 270.000 people went poor. Understanding the impact and the resilience especially on the primary industry during the Covid-19 situation is important to decrease the poverty rate as well as create new alternative strategies for the government to overcome. However, the economic resilience of primary industries such as fishing and plantation is still less to explore. In this study, the economic resilience of four major industries in Indonesia when facing the Covid-19 pandemic is presented namely tourism, fishery, plantation, and micro and small business. Bivariate correlation analysis is applied to calculate the statistical correlation between the growth of poverty rate during the Covid-19 pandemic with four major industries in 34 provinces. Based on the result, it can be concluded that plantation industries are the most resilient industries while facing the Covid-19 pandemic, so the provinces with plantation industries as their main industry are less likely to have major growth in poverty rate compared to other provinces with fewer plantation industries. The second most resilient industry is fishing. Meanwhile, the tourism industry is the most vulnerable during the pandemic situation. In this study, the qualitative analysis especially in Riau and Bali provinces is also presented.

Abstract

A transformer is an essential component in a generator, electrical equipment that works non-stop to support electricity needs. There has been a lot of thermal and electrical activity that the presence of an oil-paper insulator can suppress. The insulating ability can decrease and lead the failure due to the aging of the insulator by heating, moisture, and impurities. The aging of the paper was unavoidable, which caused the cellulose bond to break and form dissolved gases with oil, such as Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide, Methane, Acetylene, Ethylene, and Ethane. So, conventional dissolved gas analysis (DGA) was used to investigate further. The use of paper insulation with a certain amount affects the electrical strength of the insulator. A breakdown test on AC voltage is carried out for the following investigation. The result showed that the percentage of paper had an optimum number to get high insulator strength. By heating mineral oil for 250 hours and 500 hours, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are released in the different results as the DGA test. It can be concluded that cellulose paper has affected mineral oil's dissolved gas and insulator strength.
