Abstract

The land snail fauna of the largest tropical montane forest in Java, the Gunung Halimun Salak National Park (GHSNP), was surveyed during the dry season (June-July) in 2015, concentrating on four park’s resorts, i.e. Cikaniki, Mt. Botol, Cisarua (Halimun area) and Cidahu (Salak area). In total, 399 specimens representing 43 species were collected. Prior to the surveys, 48 land snail species were known from the GHSNP. Fifteen new records for the GHSNP were discovered so 63 species are now known to inhabit the Park. This number represent 25% of the total land snail fauna of Java. 21 of the species found in GHSNP are endemic to Java. The species richness of the plots in GHSNP was correlated with soil pH and the composition of the land snail communities was correlated with elevation, annual mean temperature, and amount of deadwood.

Abstract

Wirdateti, A.N. Pratiwi, D. Diapari & A. S. Tjakradidjaja. 2009. Daily behavior offemale Leaf Grey Monkey (Trachypithecus cristatus, Raffles 1812) in WildlifeRescue Center Gadog captivity, Ciawi-Bogor. Zoo Indonesia 18(1): 33-40. Theresearch was conducted to study daily behaviour and feed preference of female leafgrey monkey (Trachypithecus cristatus, Raffles 1812) in captivity.Three female leafgrey monkeys were used in the study. Type of diets being oberserved were creepingwater-plant (Ipomea aquatica) forks, pohpohan (Pilea trinervia), spinach (Amaranthusspp. L), green brassica leaf (Brassica juncea, L), fruit-tree leaf (Gnetum gnemonLinn), and boiled sweet potato (Ipomea batatas Poir). The observation was conductedfrom 06.00 a.m to 06.00 p.m with 15 minutes interval time. Variables being measuredwere feeding activity, drinking activity, defecation, urination, locomotion, groomingand resting activity. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis with one zerosampling method. The result showed that the percentage value of feeding activity, drinking activity, defecation, urination, locomotion, grooming and resting activity were:10.49%, 3.87%, 10.33%, 4.35%, 19.71%, 23.05% and 28.19% of total activities, respectively. Leaf grey monkey preferred to eat from the first until the last feeds, wereboiled sweet potato, green brassica, creeping water-plant, spinach and fruit-tree.

Abstract

Mencit dibagi menjadi enam kelompok perlakuan.

Abstract

Huwoyon, G.H., Rustidja & R. Gustiano. 2008. Effect of methyltestosterone hormoneon sex reversal of Guppy (Poecillia reticulate) larvae fish. Zoo Indonesia 17(2): 49-54. Male ornamental fish is more exotic than female one. The objective of study wasto increase the percentage of male guppy fish (Poecillia reticulate) usingmethyltestosterone hormone at the larvae stage. Control (A = 0 ppm) and four differentdosages of methyltestosterone hormone (B = 5 ppm, C = 10 ppm, D = 15 ppm & E =20 ppm) were used as treatments with three replications. The results showed the besttreatment to produce the highest percentage (58.41%) of male guppy fish was at 10ppm dosage (p<0.01). However, the dosages hormone treatments given in this studywere not significantly different on intersexes production, survival rate and specificgrowth rate (p>0.05).
