This article examines "Tri Tangtu" as an indigenous philosophy of law that has developed among the Sundanese people in West Java and Banten. Tri Tangtu forms part of the foundational philosophical knowledge and worldview of the Sundanese community in practicing the ancestral traditions of their cultural heritage. Accordingly, this study employs a descriptive-analytical approach, focusing on the philosophical analysis, mythological symbols, customary norms, and the practical implementation of Tri Tangtu. The analysis reveals that Tri Tangtu is not merely a body of knowledge or a set of ethical guidelines but also serves as a foundation for developing customary legal norms, maintaining social order, and resolving issues in daily life.

This study aims to analyze the legal politics of customary law in preserving the Kawin Cai tradition in Maniskidul Village, Kuningan Regency. Kawin Cai is a Sundanese traditional ceremony with a sacred meaning, symbolizing gratitude for water sources and maintaining harmony between humans and nature. In the national legal system, customary law is recognized under Article 18B(2) of the 1945 Constitution; however, its implementation faces challenges due to tourism village policies that lean towards commercialization. This research employs a normative juridical method with a statutory approach and document analysis. The findings indicate that customary law plays a crucial role in maintaining the social and spiritual legitimacy of the Kawin Cai tradition, while local legal politics should serve as an instrument for legal protection rather than merely a tool for tourism development. This study recommends the establishment of more specific regional regulations to ensure the sustainability and authenticity of Kawin Cai in the face of modernization.

Indonesia's maritime natural resources are one of the biggest assets that support the country's economic life and ecosystem. In this context, the blue economy and customary maritime rights are two concepts that protect maritime natural resources. The blue economy offers a sustainable approach to maritime resource utilisation, while customary maritime rights recognise the rights of indigenous communities to manage their maritime areas in a traditional and sustainable manner. This article discusses the linkages between the blue economy, customary maritime rights and the protection of maritime natural resources in Indonesia, and how their integration can provide solutions for the sustainability of maritime resources.

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze whether the implementation of customary sanctions can realize justice, foster harmonization, and provide a deterrent effect for the perpetrators. The research problems focus on whether the application of customary sanctions can achieve justice and harmonization within the community, and whether the imposition of such sanctions can create a deterrent effect on the offenders. The research method employed is empirical juridical, analyzing primary data obtained through field research. The results of the study show that the enforcement of customary sanctions against violators of customary law in Kubu Kandang and Jembatan Emas Villages, Batang Hari Regency, is genuinely implemented through customary court sessions, where offenders are sanctioned according to the prevailing local customary law. This process has successfully realized justice and harmonization within the community. Furthermore, the imposition of customary sanctions has created a deterrent effect, particularly on the offenders and the broader community, as evidenced by a decrease in violations of customary law in Kubu Kandang and Jembatan Emas Villages, Batang Hari Regency.

The accessoir agreement in the main credit agreement is an agreement related to collateral. The object of collateral can be Customary Land, as in Article 10 paragraph 3 of the Mortgage Law. The collateral is bound by the existence of a Power of Attorney to Charge Mortgage Rights or a Deed of Granting Mortgage Rights. In practice, there is still customary land that does not have a certificate. Customary land that does not have a certificate has a period of Power of Attorney to Charge Mortgage Rights for 3 months which must then be followed by the making of a Deed of Granting Mortgage Rights. If the Power of Attorney to Charge Mortgage Rights is not followed by the making of a Deed of Granting Mortgage Rights, it becomes null and void by law. Therefore, it is necessary to register customary land to be proof of perfect ownership.

Customary law plays a significant role in land management in Indonesia, including the recognition of girik as proof of land ownership. Girik is one of the documents acknowledging land ownership in Indonesia, recognized within the customary legal system. However, over time, the dualism between customary law and positive law has created various issues, ranging from ownership legality to agrarian conflicts. This study explores how customary law influences the existence of girik, the problems arising from legal dualism, and solutions for harmonizing the two systems. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the study finds that customary law offers effective conflict resolution mechanisms at the local level, yet these are often overlooked within the formal legal system.

This study examines the integration of Javanese customary values (rembuk blok and tepo seliro) in conflict resolution among inmates at Jepara Detention Center as an alternative to seclusion-based sanctions. Using critical ethnography (2023-2024) with participatory observation, interviews with inmates and prison officer, and analysis of conflict cases, findings reveal: (1) rembuk blok prevents conflict escalation through participatory dialogue; (2) tepo seliro facilitates empathy-based reconciliation; (3) adaptation of customary social sanctions (voluntary exclusion) improves social cohesion. Key barriers include philosophical gaps between state-customary law, staff resistance, and regulatory voids. Recommendations include integrating rembuk blok into conflict mediation SOPs and legal pluralism-based staff training.

The legitimacy of customary institution decisions in the national legal system still faces various challenges, especially the lack of formal recognition and limited execution in state courts. Although customary law is recognized in the constitution, its implementation is often not in sync with national law. This study highlights the need for regulatory harmonization so that customary institution decisions have clearer and more effective legal force in the national legal system.

The implementation plan of Article 96 paragraph (1) of PP Number 18 of 2021 in 2026, which requires registration of customary land within a period of five years, raises great concerns because it can cause the loss of customary land status. Through a normative legal approach, this study found that the elimination of customary land has the potential to cause the loss of cultural identity, economic resources, and social inequality. Legal protection based on the principle of substantive justice is the key to maintaining the sustainability of indigenous peoples' rights by balancing the needs of national development with the protection of indigenous peoples' rights in order to realize social justice according to the mandate of the constitution.
