Abstract

Copper is one of the dangerous heavy metals contained in industrial wastewater, whose presence needs to be addressed. Adsorption is one method that can be used to adsorb heavy metals. Using a langsat shell as an adsorbent is used to adsorb copper because it is easy to obtain and its use is still minimal in people. Using the column method, the langsat shell was made into activated carbon with HNO3 as an adsorber of Cu2+ metal ions. The activated carbon obtained was tested for quality according to Standard Nasional Indonesia (SNI) No.06-3730-1995. In this research, we determine the effect of adsorbent dosage on the adsorption of copper ions. The results showed the activated carbon meets established quality standards of SNI and the optimum adsorption value of Cu2+ metal ions at an adsorbent dosage of 0.4 grams.

Abstract

In this study, Durian rind wastes were fermented using Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast to break the starch to be smaller sugar molecule. Then, the pH was analyzed using digital pH-meter. The voltage and electric current were analyzed using multimeter. The result showed that the lower the pH value the greater its voltage and its electric current. The pH value influenced by fermentation time. The longer the fermentation time the lower the pH value. The type of microorganism and the composition of durian rind wastes were also affected the pH value. In this study, the fermentation process was set for 24, 48, 72 hours, and the pH value was resulted in the basic range. The highest voltage is 0.094 volt and the highest electric current is 0.058 mA measured in pH 12.3.

Abstract

Lead (II) ion is one of the dangerous metal ions produced from various industrial wastes and its existence needs to be addressed. Adsorption using langsat peel activated carbon was proven to be able to absorb lead (II) ions. The stages of absorption are carried out by varying the adsorbent weight (0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5) g, and flow rate (1,2,3,4) mL/minute by column method then continued with testing using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that the optimum conditions occurred at the weight of the adsorbent is 0.2 g, and the flow rate is 2 mL/min.

Abstract

Bajakah is one of the plants found in the forest around Muara Badak. Bajakah root contains flavonoids which have potential as natural ingredients that have medicinal properties. Currently, there are two types of bajakah root on the market, namely tampala and kalalawit. This study aims to determine the content and total flavonoid content of the extract of the Bajakah root from the two types of Bajakah root. The research procedure was initiated by the process of extracting the roots of the Bajakah root using the reflux method using 96% ethanol. The reflux extraction results are then carried out by an evaporation process to obtain a thick extract. The second step is to test the flavone content through a color test. And the quantitative test for determining total flavonoid levels was carried out by UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. Based on the results of a qualitative test using a color reaction, it shows that the roots of the kalalawit and tampala bajakar contain flavonoids. Where the total flavonoid content in the roots of Bajakah Tampala was 59.38% and in Bajakah Kalalawi roots was 47.14%.

Abstract

The development of technology in this world is already developing rapidly. One of the advanced technologies that support research planning is bibliometrics. This study aims to analyze the scope of research on PVA Hydrogel Membrane using VOSviewer using bibliometric review with a mapping process to ensure that the research to be carried out has never been studied and knows the relationship of each related item. The three processes underlying the search use the keywords "chemistry, particle, PVA, and Hydrogel" namely title, abstract, and keyword. The research database is taken from google scholar. A total of 98 articles are relevant and meet the criteria. The results show that most of the studies were conducted in the 2012-2022 range. PVA and Hydrogel are so closely related to each other that they have a fairly bright density visualization. Some items are not related to the PVA Hydrogel Membrane but these items are interconnected with other items so it can be concluded that there are still many items that can be used for further research.

Abstract

Malachite green dye waste is one of the wastes that is genotoxic and carcinogenic to humans. Biosorption is an effective process for the removal and recovery of Malachite green dye waste from aqueous solutions. In this study, the biomass used was a langsat shell which had been immobilized with sodium silicate. The obtained biosorbents were characterized using Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR). In this research, we determine the effect of biomass dosage on biosorption Malachite green using the column method. The results showed that the optimum conditions for absorption occurred at biomass dosage 2 gram . The maximum biosorption efficiency of 96,85%

Abstract

Bajakah kalalawit is one of the plants that has been empirically used in traditional medicine. The roots of Bajakah kalalawit (Uncaria gambir Roxb) have phenol and antibacterial content and have a high enough content of flavonoid compounds so that they have pharmacological activity as an anticancer. This article examines the content of flavonoid compounds contained in the extract of Bajakah Kalalawi root and also examines the total levels of flavonoids contained in the roots of Bajakah Kalalawi. Bajakah kalalawit root extract was obtained by the infundation extraction method using a water solvent (1:10). Examination of the characteristics of the sample is carried out by macroscopic and microscopic identification. The qualitative test of flavonoids was carried out by color reaction tests in two treatments. Determination of flavonoid levels in the root extract of bajakah kalalawi was carried out by the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. From the results of the study showed that the levels of flavonoids in the root extract of Bajakah Kalalawi in sample A were 33.2% and in sample B by 44.8%. The results showed that the roots of Bajakah Kalalawi were shown to contain flavonoid compounds.

Abstract

A. paniculata (Sambiloto) is a plant capable of producing various secondary metabolites which use in the field of pharmacology, one of which is as a source of antibacterial compounds. This potential can be explored from endophytic fungi associated with A. paniculata. The purpose was to determine the effectiveness of the antibacterial activity of the endophytic fungi RS-2 from branches of A. paniculata using red rice as the media. The stages of the research included isolation of the fungi, cultivation, extraction, antibacterial test, and test of the phytochemical of the endophytic fungi on branches of A. paniculata. The effectiveness test of antibacterial activity against the extract of the RS-2 endophytic fungi showed that the endophytic fungi extract had the potential to inhibit the growth of the three tested bacteria at concentrations of 10%, 30%, and 50%. The ethyl acetate extract of the endophytic fungi RS-2 from A. paniculata has the potential as a source of antibacterial compounds using red rice media.

Abstract

Plants extract as immunomodulatory is substance which can stimulates or suppresses the component of immune system including white blood count and differential leucocytes count. The modulation of immune system by various plants extract has become subject for scientific investigation currently worldwide. Some of these plants have been claimed to increase immune system by increasing the total white blood count and differential leucocytes count are Achyranthes aspera Linn, Cermai Leaves (Phyllanthus acidus (L.)) Skeels, Moringa oleivera and Poguntano herb (Picriafel-terraeLour).. Plants extract were recommended for us as immunomodulatory because there are several botanical products with potential therapeutic applications such as high efficacy, low cost and low toxicity.
