Abstract

The study aimed to analyze factors that affect the price mechanism of corn among producers in Lampung Province. Secondary data from 2009 to 2014 used accounted 72 month of total observation. Multiple linear regression using Ordinary Least Squares was applied to answer the research question. The study found that the price mechanism of corn among producers was influenced by total production, previous period of corn price and value exchange. On the other hand, the corn price among consumers and price import of corn did not influence the corn price among producers. The corn price among producers were less responsive against the total production which was due to the existence of oligopsony power.

Abstract

This study was aimed to analyze the integration of vertical cakalang fish markets at the fishermen level, wholesalers, and retailers in Ternate city and Bitung city. Monthly time series data for the 2015-2019 period were used for this research. The analytical method used was Johansen's cointegration, Granger Causality and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results showed that there is a long-term co-integration relationship among the variable prices on the levels of fishermen, wholesalers, and Ternate City retailers and Bitung City retailers. Based on the results of long-term VECM testing, the retail market in Ternate City and South Halmahera Regency Wholesale Market are tightly integrated. Whereas in the retail market of the  Bitung city and the cakalang market at the fishermen level are cointegrated very weakly where every price change in the Ternate retail market will negatively affect prices at the level of Bitung city fishermen and retailers. In the short term, price formation at the fishermen level is only influenced by prices at Ternate retailers and not influenced by prices at the level of wholesalers and retailers in Bitung City.

The sampling technique in this study is saturation sampling. The data used in the study were sourced from secondary data obtained from shopping transaction data of the sales transaction database on the website and the Panenmart’s mobile application. To determine the pattern of product purchase association rules, Market Basket Analysis (MBA) is used based on three metrics, namely support, confidence and lift ratio. This study used a minimum value of support of 0.1 and a minimum value of confidence of 0.3. The results showed 3 patterns of product purchase association rules that have a strong and valid relationship to be purchased simultaneously because they had a confidence value of more than 0.3 and lift ratio value > 1. The product items had a rule pattern namely, cayenne pepper à green bean, corn à spinach, and spinach à green bean.

Abstract

Lampung Province is one of the Robusta coffee agribusiness centers that is included in the development area of the coffee area contained in the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture No. 472 of 2018. Based on this stipulation, this paper aims to determine the production system, maintenance costs and supply chain in Lampung Province. The survey was conducted in July 2019 with data collection methods through FGD and direct interviews with farmers using a questionnaire. From the results of a qualitative descriptive analysis and maintenance cost, it was found that the Robusta coffee agribusiness in Lampung Province experienced positive growth. This is represented by an increase in coffee selling price of 0.39% / year, planting area of 0.33% / year and production of 0.09% / year. But in terms of productivity, respondents' farmers only produce 593 kg / year or still low compared to national productivity of 656 kg / year and Lampung province productivity of 800 kg / year. The low productivity of respondent farmers was caused by: (i) lack of motivation to maintain because the maintenance costs per kg (Rp. 4,013) were lower than the selling price of coffee (Rp. 18,000); (ii) the age of the plant is old and (iii) it is not the main crop. Coffee agribusiness in Lampung Province can still be improved by: (i) increasing productivity through the application of coffee-based cultivation; (ii) making demonstration plots at farmer locations as an effort to disseminate research results from the Ministry of Research and Development; (iii) rebuilding institutions especially in overcoming the problems of production, marketing and processing of products and (iv) making partnerships with traders or roasteries so that farmers no longer need to sell as origin seeds
