The main purpose of this article is to provide a review of the challenges that are often faced in conventionalsurgery and how magnification has become an integral part of modern dentistry. The objective is to incorporatemagnification for a minimally invasive periodontal microsurgery. This procedure requires clinical expertiseand training. Different procedures ranging from GTR, crown-lengthening and root coverage to implantologyand many diagnostic procedures are aided by periodontal microsurgery. In this challenging new era oftechnology, it claims to give more predictable therapeutic results with rapid healing and also improvedcosmetic results whereas in other hands conventional surgery provides less visual acuity,delay in healingalong with ergonomic problems.

Children with special needs for health care (SHCN) management causes uncertainty and anxiety amonghealth practitioners like dentists as it involves advanced skills gained through special training, enhancedunderstanding, accommodative measures and resources. A quest was undertaken to find revised and evidencebased guidelines and alternatives for the dental care available to SHCN children. Such guidelines will helpdentists determine some suitable dental treatment and also help other medical practitioners recognize the needto ensure good oral health for children with SHCN and the value of collaboration with dental practitioners.

A conventional communication along with a caring attitude develops an affinity with a pediatric patient.Non-pharmacological behavior modification approach allows pediatric dentists the ability to effectivelyalleviate behavioral issues by balancing their preference of treatment with that of the child’s type of mutualpractice. Whereas Activity informed adult patients with dental phobias is the product of an offensiveapproach employed in childhood. Hence to overcome these disadvantages newer non-pharmacologicaltechniques were handled by Pediatric Dentists which provided long term reinforcement in younger children.This review will focus on reckoning the recent advances in non-pharmacological behavior managementtechniques in children.

In recent times, carious infection of the tooth is considered as a major worldwide concern, significantlyimpacting the health, safety and quality of life of the patients affected by it. The required routine oralhygiene procedure along with fluoride use ensures prevention against dental caries. Apart from these,another important prophylactic measure can be followed against the caries by sealing the pit and fissuresof a tooth that is more prone to caries occurrence. The main purpose of this article is to present a generaloverview of the sealing of pits and fissures, materials typically used to seal the occlusal surfaces along withthe implications and side effects. This article also presents a detailed review of safe, effective use and costeffectiveness of pit and fissure sealants as a preventive measure for caries. The finding drawn from this isthat primary, as well as permanent teeth, sealed pit and fissures are an efficient and appropriate approachfor preventing and arresting dental caries. But conducting a proper regular dental check-up is necessary toensure that there is no advanced tooth decay caused due to any leakage in the sealing.

The palate which forms the roof of the mouth can be divided anatomically into hard and soft palates. Theseareas are actively involved with feeding and speech. The posterior part of the hard palate consisting of theminor salivary glands is a common site for palatal swellings. However, these are quite challenging for theclinician to diagnose and because of the importance of the oral cavity in terms of both function and cosmetics,management of such swellings requires a thorough understanding of the lesion and its progression. Thisarticle reviews the various palatal swellings in terms of their etiologies, clinical features, diagnosis, andmanagement.

The people who had undergone or are undergoing glucocorticoid therapy present distinctive issues fordental surgeons. The people receiving the steroid therapy have their responses altered to infection and injuryassuage. More importantly, the patients who are taking or have taken glucocorticoids have a possibilityof suffering from acute-adrenal insufficiency when they are introduced to a stressful situation. When apatient with a history of glucocorticoid therapy is under treatment, actual details on the medical history mustbe obtained. The dentist must regulate the requirement for the ensuing preventive measures: a) Systemicantibiotic therapy, b) anxiety control, c) increased administration of glucocorticoids.

Periodontal disease is known around the world as a significant health concern and a common cause ofadult tooth loss.
