Abstract

The rapid growth of Indonesia’s specialty coffee industry has intensified competition, positioning product quality and brand image as critical factors influencing consumer purchase behavior. Although these variables have been extensively studied, prior research remains dominated by global brand contexts, offering limited insights into local coffee shop dynamics where consumer decisions are shaped by unique perceptions of quality and brand experience. This study investigates the effects of product quality and brand image on purchase decisions among Poin Coffee Taman Siswa, Sekaran consumers, using the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) as the theoretical foundation. TRA suggests that purchase behavior is driven by behavioral intentions, which arise from attitudes shaped by evaluative beliefs about a product. A quantitative explanatory design was applied, involving 100 respondents selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistics, and multiple regression analysis. The results indicate that product quality and brand image have positive and significant effects both individually and simultaneously on purchase decisions. This study reinforces TRA’s applicability in explaining consumer attitudes and suggests future studies incorporate moderating variables such as word of mouth, pricing, and promotion.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of organizational prestige and employee engagement on employee retention in selected deposit money banks in Delta State, Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey design was employed, collecting data from a sample of 370 bankers using a structured questionnaire. This study involved 10 deposit money banks with a population of 9,743, and using the Krejcie and Morgan table of sample size determination, a sample size of 370 respondents was drawn. Both descriptive and inferential statistical analytical tools were used in data analysis. Descriptive analysis was performed on the respondents' biographic data, while multiple regression and correlation analysis were carried out on the research hypotheses. Findings this study comes to the conclusion that employee engagement and organizational prestige improve staff retention at Deposit Money Banks in Delta State, Nigeria. The onus lies on the human resource department to ensure competent workers are recruited to guarantee organizational success or performance, create goodwill, be more socially responsible, provide efficient service delivery to reduce criticism, and comply with ethical regulations of the industry. Another factor that affects employee retention is employees' engagement. The human resources department should ensure employees are trained to improve their performance, commitment, loyalty and sense of ownership. More so, engaged employees should be recognized and rewarded intrinsically and extrinsically to enable them to feel fulfilled with the success of the organization.

Abstract

Transfer Pricing Aggressiveness (TPA) is a strategy by multinational companies to shift profits to low-tax jurisdictions, which poses serious challenges for tax authorities in the context of Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS). Consumer goods companies in Indonesia are vulnerable to this practice due to characteristics such as leverage, company size, intangible assets, and the effective tax rate. This study aims to analyze the main determinants of TPA and explore the mediating role of financial performance in this relationship. The approach used is a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. Quantitative data were obtained from 126 financial reports of Indonesian consumer goods companies for the period 2016–2022 and analyzed using SEM-PLS. The results show that financial characteristics significantly influence TPA through financial performance as a mediator. Large and highly leveraged companies tend to manage TPA strategically, while the use of intangible assets is carried out more cautiously due to valuation and oversight risks. Financial performance serves as a signal to stakeholders and a legitimacy tool in the face of regulatory pressure. This research integrates various theoretical perspectives: Agency Theory, Resource-Based View, Institutional Theory, Tax Compliance Theory, and Legitimacy Theory. Qualitative analysis reveals regulatory challenges in Indonesia, particularly in oversight, compliance, and dispute resolution. This research provides empirical and conceptual contributions to understanding TPA strategies in developing countries and supports governance- and data-driven fiscal reforms.

Abstract

Tax awareness in Indonesia is relatively low, with only 11% of the population having a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP), influenced by negative perceptions and a culture of tax avoidance. Educational and technological initiatives have begun to increase participation, but challenges remain, especially in remote areas. This study aims to explore the influence of religiosity and personality on taxpayer awareness. This study adopts a positivist approach, focusing on the measurement and causal relationships of empirical variables. The data for this study were obtained from primary data from 324 respondents. The results show that religiosity does not increase personal taxpayer awareness. Personality, on the other hand, has been shown to influence tax awareness. These findings suggest that tax compliance is more influenced by external factors, such as the quality of the tax system, than internal factors such as religious values. This study recommends tax policy reforms to increase transparency and efficiency, as well as educational campaigns that demonstrate the collective benefits of paying taxes for taxpayers.

Abstract

This study aims to explore women's involvement in the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) from the perspective of their subjective experiences. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study involved eight female informants who actively play MLBB and have social experiences within the gaming community. The results show that women play four main roles: as active and strategic players, recipients of gender pressure, agents of resistance and adaptation, and representative symbols within the community. Despite facing various forms of discrimination and symbolic violence, the informants are able to navigate these challenges through contextual strategies of resistance and adaptation. These findings support theories of social construction and gender performativity and emphasize the importance of digital space as an arena for negotiating gender identity.

Abstract

Coffee, with around 125 known species, ranks among the most globally traded commodities and is a key source of foreign income for numerous developing nations. Its value chain is complex and highly exposed to economic and environmental risks, especially for smallholders. These challenges have intensified with the EU Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR) enacted in June 2023, which restricts imports of seven key deforestation-linked commodities, including coffee. This study aims to analyze the role of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) in advancing the readiness of coffee-producing countries, particularly in the Coffee Belt, for the implementation of the European Union Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR). This research adopts a descriptive qualitative method and utilizes both primary and secondary data, including official statements, reports, and meeting records, alongside sources obtained through library research. It explores the role of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) using Clive Archer’s (2001) conceptual framework, which viewed intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) as instruments, actors, and forums. The findings signify that the International Coffee Organization (ICO) plays a strategic role as a coordination instrument and source of information, an independent actor in policy advocacy, and a deliberate forum that brings together multiple stakeholders to support EUDR implementation.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of government roles, leadership, and destination image on the competitive advantage of Kutuh Tourism Village, Badung Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires administered to key stakeholders, and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. The findings indicate that the government role has a positive and significant effect on competitive advantage (t-statistic = 2.71; original sample = 0.800), suggesting that regulatory support, infrastructure development, and promotion enhance destination competitiveness. Destination image also shows a positive and significant effect (t-statistic = 2.22; original sample = 0.805), confirming that positive tourist perceptions strengthen competitive advantage. Conversely, leadership has no significant effect (t-statistic = 0.71), indicating the need to improve local leadership capacity. The R-Square value of 0.741 indicates that the three variables collectively explain 74.1% of the variance in competitive advantage, while the Q-Square value of 0.711 demonstrates high predictive relevance. These findings provide practical implications for destination development, emphasizing that synergy between government support and destination image enhancement is a key driver for sustainable competitiveness, with leadership remaining a strategic potential that should be optimized.
