Abstract

The rapid advancement of information and communication technology has significantly transformed business practices, particularly through the emergence of Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce). This study aims to design and develop a web-based sales application for Toko Andesta Indah, a micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) located in Serang Regency, to address inefficiencies in manual sales processes and expand digital market reach. The system was developed using the Waterfall model and implemented with the CodeIgniter framework due to its lightweight structure and support for MVC architecture. The application features include user registration and login, product catalog display, order processing, payment proof upload, and administrative control of product and transaction management. Functional testing using Black Box methods confirmed that the system operates according to user requirements and supports secure, accurate, and efficient transactions. The results demonstrate that the developed system effectively simplifies transaction processes, enhances customer access to products, and provides administrative efficiency in managing sales data. This web-based application serves as a strategic step toward digital transformation for MSMEs and contributes to improving competitiveness in the e-commerce landscape.

Abstract

Web-based information systems have become an effective solution to enhance efficiency and accuracy in online sales transactions, including in the beverage business such as Es Teh Indonesia. This study aims to design and develop a web-based ordering information system using the CodeIgniter 3 framework to simplify the ordering process and manage data related to products, brands, categories, and transaction reports. The methodology used in this study is the waterfall method, consisting of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance stages. The system design includes user interfaces (UI) for both customers and administrators, as well as UML diagrams such as use case, activity, and sequence diagrams. The developed system is capable of handling login, user registration, product selection, order form submission, checkout, and order confirmation processes. On the admin side, the system provides features to manage brand, category, and product data, as well as generate transaction reports based on a specific date range. The results of testing using the black box method indicate that all functions perform as expected. In conclusion, this web-based information system successfully improves the convenience and efficiency of the ordering process and business data management at Es Teh Indonesia, while also enhancing service speed and accuracy for customers.

Abstract

Abstract This study investigates the extent to which IoT devices are being adopted in Nigerian tertiary institutions, with specific attention to their potential, constraints, and future implications. The study was guided by four objectives: to explore the opportunities IoT offers for enhancing teaching, learning, and research; to identify major challenges associated with its implementation in the Nigerian context; to evaluate the impact of IoT on the efficiency and outcomes of academic activities; and to highlight the future prospects and trends in IoT for transforming education and research in Nigeria. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, involving quantitative data from 360 respondents and qualitative insights from 12 key stakeholders interviewed across selected institutions nationwide. The findings reveal that IoT devices are increasingly being used to improve instructional delivery, personalize student learning, and enhance data collection for research. However, the study also identifies critical challenges including inadequate digital infrastructure, high cost of IoT systems, limited technical expertise, and the absence of clear national or institutional policies. Despite these challenges, respondents expressed strong optimism about the future role of IoT in enabling smart campuses, AI-driven learning environments, and innovative research collaboration. The study concluded that while the integration of IoT into Nigerian education and research is still in its formative stage, its transformative potential is evident. To fully realize this potential, there should be strategic investments in infrastructure, comprehensive training programmes, policy formulation, and inclusive implementation strategies are required. The study recommended a collaborative, future-oriented approach involving government, institutions, and industry stakeholders to ensure that IoT becomes a sustainable driver of academic excellence and national development.
