Abstract

The values of Christian education are universal values, which can be found in the culture and traditions embraced by the community. The Christian education referred to here encompasses the Christian values found in the Bible. This research aims to identify and describe the Christian educational values present in the Massali Bombong tradition as an effort of reconciliation for the community in Lembang Makkodo. The Massali Bombong tradition (bridging the gap) is a voluntary effort by someone to provide relief to relatives/offenders who are unable to pay fines or fulfill sanctions due to violations committed. To achieve the formulated objectives, the author uses a qualitative research method with an ethnographic approach. The research location is in Lembang Makkodo, Simbuang District, Tana Toraja Regency. The results of the study indicate that in the Massali Bombong tradition, there are Christian educational values serving as the foundation for reconciliation. These Christian educational values include love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and peace, which bear similarities to the reconciliation carried out by God. At the core of love, God sacrificed Jesus Christ to redeem humanity and reconcile them with God. Jesus performed Massali Bombong to bridge the gap between humans and God. Nilai-nilai pendidikan Kristiani adalah nilai universal, yang bisa ditemukan dalam budaya dan tradisi yang dihidupi oleh Masyarakat. Pendidikan Kristiani yang dimaksudkan adalah nilai-nilai Kristiani yang terdapat dalam Alkitab. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasian dan pendeskripsian nilai-nilai pendidikan Kristiani yang terdapat dalam tradisi Massali Bombong sebagai upaya rekonsiliasi bagi masyarakat Lembang Makkodo. Tradisi Massali Bombong (menjembatani jurang) merupakan usaha sukarela seseorang untuk memberikan pembebasan kepada kerabat/pelaku yang tidak mampu membayar denda atau memenuhi tuntutan sanksi akibat pelanggaran yang dilakukan. Untuk menjawab tujuan yang telah dirumuskan penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Lokasi penelitian di Lembang Makkodo Kecamatan Simbuang, Kabupaten Tana Toraja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam tradisi Massali Bombong terdapat nilai-nilai pendidikan Kristiani, sebagai dasar untuk melakukan rekonsiliasi. Nilai-nilai pendidikan kristiani tersebut antara lain: kasih, pengorbanan, pengampunan, dan perdamaian yang memiliki kesamaan dengan rekonsiliasi yang dilakukan oleh Allah.  Ada dasar kasih, Allah mengutus anak-Nya yaitu Yesus Kristus untuk berkorban dan menebus manusia serta mendamaikannya dengan Allah. Yesus melakukan Massali Bombong untuk menjembatai jurang antara manusia dengan Allah.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore the biblical perspective on physical violence in child education and to analyze the relevance of discipline implementation according to Proverbs 13:24 within the context of early childhood Christian education. The methodology employed is a qualitative approach focusing on literature review, including hermeneutic analysis of biblical texts and descriptive methods to explain the early childhood education system in Indonesia. The underlying theory emphasizes the integration of Christian values in education and the importance of educating children without violence. The findings indicate that although physical punishment is still practiced in Christian education, there is an urgent need to develop a more humane disciplinary approach that aligns with the principles of love and understanding found in the Bible, in order to support the holistic growth and development of children.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the principle of parenting style affecting by the saying "there is gold at the tip of the cane" from the perspective of a child-friendly family. This causes by the reality of violence against children in Christian families. Through the saying "there is gold at the tip of the cane", the violance against children in their families is normalized. The result of this parenting style are, such as hitting, pinching and scolding the children. This research is accomplished by using qualitative research methodology, and the data collection techniques through literature review, observation, and interviews. The study concludes that the parenting style is influenced by the parents' experiences as they were children, especially them who underwent the same parenting style. These experiences justify them in aplying violence to their children. The parenting style of "there is gold at the tip of the cane" contradicts the concept of a child-friendly family and the values set by Jesus Christ. Parents, in building a child-friendly family, need to fulfill their roles effectively, which includes creating an environment referred to as "home" and provide their children with warmth, love, and acceptance. In this way, parents can successfully carry out Christian religious education in their families. Keywords: Child-Friendly Family, Gold at the Tip of the Cane Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tentang prinsip pengasuhan anak di ujung rotan ada emas dalam perspektif keluarga ramah anak. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh realitas kekerasan terhadap anak dalam keluarga Kristen. Kekerasan terhadap anak dinormalisasikan dengan sebuah pola pengasuhan anak yang bertujuan untuk kebaikan dan masa depan anak yang diistilahkan dengan ungkapan di ujung rotan ada emas. Penerapan prinsip pengasuhan anak ini seringkali menggunakan kekerasan seperti memukul, mencubit dan memarahi anak. Untuk mencapai tujuan ini, penulis menggunakan metodologi penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data, kajian pustaka, observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan prinsip pengasuhan ini dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman masa lalu orangtua, yakni ketika mereka mengalami pola pengasuhan yang sama saat masih kecil, dan mereka merasa pantas untuk menerapkan kembali kepada anak-anak mereka di masa kini. Prinsip pengasuhan anak di ujung rotan ada emas bertentangan dengan keluarga ramah anak. Prinsip pengasuhan anak di ujung rotan ada emas tidak sesuai dengan nilai-nilai keluarga ramah anak dan keteladanan Yesus Kristus. Orangtua dalam membangun keluarga ramah anak perlu menjalan perannya dengan baik, yaitu orangtua perlu menciptakan suatu iklim yang disebut “home” bagi anak-anaknya di mana ada suasana kehangatan dan kasih serta penerimaan terhadap anak-anaknya sebagaimana adanya. Dengan demikian orangtua mampu menjalankan pendidikan agama Kristen dalam keluarga dengan baik.

Abstract

This article discusses an experiential Christian learning model that aims to build students' faith through a life narrative approach. This method utilizes real stories and personal experiences to help students internalize Christian values ​​and understand biblical teachings more deeply. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, through literature studies and narrative content analysis from various sources, books and journal articles related to this method. The results show that the use of narratives in learning can enrich students' understanding of faith, encourage personal reflection, and strengthen community ties through group discussions. However, this approach also faces challenges, such as the diversity of students' experiences that can affect the way they live out Christian values. The active role of teachers as facilitators is needed to ensure that learning remains focused and in accordance with biblical principles. This article emphasizes that the experiential learning model can make a significant contribution to Christian religious education, especially in creating a more relevant, contextual, and transformative learning process in the modern era.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore Christian religious education teachers' views on the synthesis of adat, education, curriculum, and interfaith spiritual values manifested in the land rice planting ritual. This includes aspects such as prayers and gotong royong activities that emphasize togetherness, well-being, and a deep understanding of the philosophy of life. Based on brief surveys through 17 research subjects were mostly students of Palangka Raya and came from East Barito and 2 Christian religious education teachers in one of the high schools in East Barito, the researcher found information that currently, learning activities through land rice planting have diminished and are even threatened with extinction. In fact, land rice planting brings interfaith spirituality through prayer with all kinds of meanings (togetherness, mutual cooperation, and sufficiency). Qualitative research with brief survey and interview techniques to Christian religious education teachers provides space for information on high school education through Christian religious education teachers as research subjects who are experts as well as experienced in synthesizing between adat, education (curriculum, teachers, students and society). The results showed such education is an education that translates prayer as ritual space between religions, customs, philosophy and education through the process of planting land rice (tebas tebang, Mu'au, ritual [prayer/mystical and offerings from the earth]) from the teacher's perspective. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi pandangan para guru pendidikan agama Kristen mengenai sintesis antara adat, pendidikan, kurikulum, dan nilai-nilai spiritual lintas agama yang terwujud dalam ritual penanaman padi darat. Hal ini mencakup aspek-aspek seperti doa dan kegiatan gotong royong yang menekankan kebersamaan, kesejahteraan, serta pemahaman mendalam tentang filosofi hidup. Berdasarkan survei singkat melalui 17 subjek penelitian yang sebagian besar merupakan pelajar Palangka Raya dan berasal dari Barito Timur serta 2 guru pendidikan agama Kristen di salah satu SMA di Barito Timur, ditemukan informasi bahwa saat ini kegiatan pembelajaran melalui penanaman padi darat sudah semakin berkurang bahkan terancam punah. Padahal, penanaman padi darat menghadirkan spiritualitas lintas agama melalui doa dengan segala macam maknanya (kebersamaan, gotong royong, dan kecukupan). Penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik survei dan wawancara kepada guru pendidikan agama Kristen memberikan ruang informasi tentang pendidikan sekolah menengah atas melalui guru pendidikan agama Kristen sebagai subjek penelitian yang ahli sekaligus berpengalaman dalam mensintesiskan antara adat, pendidikan, kurikulum, guru, siswa, dan masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pendidikan yang demikian adalah pendidikan yang menerjemahkan doa sebagai ruang ritual antara agama, adat, filosofi dan pendidikan melalui proses tanam padi darat (tebas tebang, Mu'au, ritual [doa/mistik dan persembahan dari bumi]) dari sudut pandang guru.
