Abstract

Abstract This study examines the effectiveness of the Professor Goes to Library program as a strategic initiative to enhance users’ motivation and academic writing literacy at the UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library. The program responds to persistent issues of low student motivation to write, limited academic guidance, restricted access to expert mentors, and inadequate facilities supporting scientific writing. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving students, librarians, and professors engaged in the program. The findings indicate that the initiative substantially increases students’ motivation and confidence in producing scientific work, improves their understanding of academic structure, and strengthens their skills in citation and idea development. Direct interaction with professors fosters a more personal, open, and solution-oriented learning atmosphere, effectively addressing gaps in academic mentoring previously faced by users. The program also provides added value for librarians and professors by reinforcing their educational roles and enhancing the library’s position as an active learning and literacy hub. Although challenges remain—such as limited promotion, facility constraints, and the lack of continuous evaluation—the program demonstrates strong potential as an innovative model for improving academic writing literacy in higher education libraries.

Abstract

The digital era has made the internet and social media an important part of the lives of teenagers, including high school students in semi-rural areas such as Padamara, Purbalingga Regency. Behind its benefits as a means of learning and communication, low awareness of digital ethics and security increases the risk of cyberbullying. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital literacy on the prevention of cyberbullying in students of SMA Negeri 1 Padamara. The study employed a quantitative approach, utilizing a simple linear regression method, and involved 33 students who had participated in digital literacy training. Digital literacy is measured based on UNESCO's three core competencies, namely the ability to evaluate information, manage digital identity and privacy, and use digital media responsibly. The results showed that digital literacy had a significant and positive effect on cyberbullying prevention, with a regression coefficient of 0.825 and a significance of 0.000 (<0.05). A determination coefficient value (R²) of 0.872 indicates that digital literacy explains 87.2% of the variation in cyberbullying prevention efforts. These findings confirm that strengthening digital literacy competencies in accordance with the UNESCO framework plays a crucial role in shaping safe and ethical online behavior among students. Therefore, schools need to implement digital literacy programs on an ongoing basis to strengthen digital resilience and reduce the potential for cyberbullying in the educational environment.

Abstract

Community empowerment is a strategic process aimed at enhancing social, economic, cultural, and intellectual capacities through the optimization of local potential and inclusive participation in development. Community Reading Gardens (Taman Baca Masyarakat/TBM) are community-based literacy institutions that provide access to learning resources while functioning as agents of social transformation. This study examines the implementation of community empowerment initiatives conducted by TBM Tasik Malaya in Tasik Malaya Village, Curup Utara District, Rejang Lebong Regency. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with TBM managers and community members who directly benefit from the programs. Informants were selected using purposive sampling based on their involvement and knowledge of TBM activities. Data were analyzed descriptively through categorization and interpretation. The results show that TBM Tasik Malaya contributes to community empowerment through three core roles: (1) enhancing knowledge via reading services and the “Komunitas Literasi Kita Indonesia” program; (2) improving skills through creative workshops and cultural preservation initiatives such as arts and language training; and (3) providing broader opportunities by facilitating access to information, supporting the promotion of local products, and offering community health services through stakeholder collaboration. Overall, TBM Tasik Malaya functions as a multidimensional empowerment center that fosters self-reliance, cultural sustainability, and improved community welfare, making it a promising model for rural development with limited access to educational services.
