Abstract

Islamic universities are a fragmentation of the progress of civilization that occurred during the heyday of Islam in Andalusia and Europe. The purpose of this study is to narrate the development of the Islamic world of science until the emergence of an Islamic university in the digital era. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. In the process of collecting data, researchers used literature review and documentation. In the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 must be able to start using strategies and also directed and measurable planning. As happened in the era of the industrial revolution 1.0, the library was still very manual in terms of services and archiving user data which began using books, borrower bags, and traditional search tools using classification numbers that were directly searched on the shelves. Furthermore, in the 2.0 era the library has started using an automation system that makes it easier to find the information needed by users, while in the 3.0 era the library has started working together to form a database until it continues until the 4.0 era the library is based on user empowerment. When viewed with the development of libraries today, especially college libraries, of course they already have policies in facing the industrial revolution era. The college library has a background as a broad reference source and has collections in printed and electronic form to support teaching, learning and research activities. One of them is by following this revolutionary era which is very beneficial for other university libraries, this is done to make it easier for the community or students to find the information they need, not only that, through this technological development, the library can also establish information and communication with other libraries widely so that it has a positive impact on increasing library accreditation.

Abstract

Digital libraries have transformed into gateways to boundless information. Physical book collections now exist in digital format, opening wider and more accessible avenues to knowledge. Their role goes beyond simply providing books, extending to enhancing the digital information. Users can now easily search for and evaluate information, develop critical thinking skills, understand online safety, and even embark on flexible, self-directed learning journeys. Digital libraries act as windows opening new opportunities in the digital age. However, gaps remain to be bridged, such as uneven internet access and suboptimal digital literacy levels. Collaboration among various stakeholders, including government, libraries, academics, and the public, is key to maximizing the potential of digital libraries and empowering communities in this information-rich era.

Abstract

The Crusades that took place between the 11th and 13th centuries had a huge impact not only on politics and the military, but also resulted in serious damage to Islamic libraries in the Middle East. Attacks on major cities such as Jerusalem, Cairo, and Baghdad caused many libraries to be destroyed, with many manuscripts and scholarly works lost to looting and fire. In addition, many scientists and scholars fled, which reduced the interaction and exchange of knowledge that had previously existed. This collapse had long-term effects, seen in the decline of scientific production and the change in focus of scientists to more practical fields, such as medicine and engineering, rather than pure science. While some Muslim scientists began to collaborate with European scientists, many discoveries and innovations from the Islamic scientific tradition could not continue, creating a gap in the development of science. This study uses literature analysis to understand the impact of the Crusades on Islamic libraries and intellectual traditions. The results show that the destruction of Islamic libraries not only caused a great loss of knowledge, but also affected the development of future thought and science. Understanding this history is important to preserve and protect cultural heritage and knowledge so that similar tragedies are not repeated, and to ensure that valuable knowledge remains accessible and is passed on to future generations. Keywords: Keywords consist of three to five relevant words/phrases separated by semicolon

Abstract

History covers the journey of human life in filling the world's development from time to time. Every history has meaning and value, so that humans can make their own history and history shapes humans. This research aims to analyze how the decline of Islamic libraries during the time of the Ummayah leadership in the Islamic context moved away from text traditions and context. The text tradition is earlier than the context tradition, which can be traced through the Islamic religious tradition. To study or examine a religion, there are at least five forms of religious symptoms that need to be considered, including literary texts that provide teaching sources. Islamic libraries are part of an Islamic civilization that emerged and experienced development since the beginning of Islam, namely during the prophetic period, the Khulafa al-Rashidin era, and during the Islamic daulahs. If we look at it in a historical context, the development of Islamic libraries experienced a significant increase during the daulahs, so this article focuses on the development of Islamic libraries during the Umayyad Daulah era. This is considered important because apart from the caliphs at that time being directly involved or contributing greatly to the development of libraries, there were caliphs who contributed or had a big role in it, as well as the factors that caused the decline of Islamic libraries, so that this becomes interesting to study exploratively with a historical approach. The decline and vacuum in the Islamic world began with the fall of Muslim regions after physical war against their enemies, and also among the Muslim community itself. Apart from human factors, the destruction of Islamic libraries was also caused by natural phenomena, such as earthquakes. There needs to be a collective awareness for society to reconstruct their thinking that progress cannot be achieved without mastery of science.

Abstract

Bait al-hikmah is a silent evidence of the progress of civilization that occurred during the Abbasid dynasty, the advancement of science made Bait al-hikmah the direction of information in its time. This study aims to find out about the History of the Bait Al Hikmah Library During the Golden Age of the Abbasids. This research method uses library research with a qualitative approach. Researchers obtain information through books, articles and journals related to the research topic. The focus of this study is the Bait Al-Hikmah Library During the Golden Age of the Abbasids. In history, the background to the establishment of Bait al-Hikmah is due to internal factors from the belief in the value of religious teachings that always encourage its adherents to learn and seek knowledge. During the Abbasid Dynasty which adhered to the Mu'tazilah ideology, the ruling caliphs loved science and encouraged the development ofscience at that time. In addition, the conditions at that time were very conducive to transferring Greek and Persian treasures into the arms of Muslims. In addition, the rulers around the time before the founding of the House of Wisdom were people who loved knowledge.
