Abstract

Kata Kunci: Capungan banggai, dewasa, faktor kondisi, juvenil, pola pertumbuhanABSTRACTThe banggai cardinalfish is originally only found in the waters around the Banggai Islands, Central Sulawesi., but now it has spread to various regions including Baubau City waters, Southeast Sulawesi. This study was aimed to examine size distribution, growth patterns, and condition factors of the fish in the coastal waters of Baubau City which is a new habitat. Fish samples were collected using the exploration method along the waters where the fish are spread, their total length was measured, and their weight was weighed. The total length of the fish obtained ranged from 38.40-83.50 mm and their weight ranged from 0.64-8.17 grams. The size classes of the fish obtained were quite varied and were in the juvenile to adult phase. Analysis of length-weight relationship of the fish as a whole showed a positive allometric growth pattern (b=3.0058), but there was a difference between juvenile and adult fish where juvenile had a negative allometric (b = 2.7275). Condition factor analysis also showed differences, where adult had lower condition factor values than juveniles. However, overall the fish have quite good growth and condition factors, so they can thrive in this new habitat. In terms of management, population control and further monitoring of ecological impacts are needed, because this species can become invasive if its population increases rapidly and disrupts the local ecosystem. Keywords: Banggai cardinalfish, adults, condition factors, juveniles, growth patterns
