International Journal of Business, Economics and Social Development (IJBESD) is published 4 (four) times a year and is the flagship journal of the Research Collaboration Community (RCC). Abstract

Blitar City is the largest producer of jimbe drums in East Java, and even in Indonesia. The market segment for jimbe drum products is China and Canada. However, not all jimbe drum craftsmen in Blitar City are able to access the export market. This study aims to (a) Identify the characteristics of SMEs in the Jimbe drum industry in Blitar City (b) Describe the obstacles faced by jimbe drum craftsmen to move up to the export market (c) Develop strategies to encourage SMEs in the jimbe drum industry in Blitar City to move up in a sustainable manner. The type of research is a qualitative case study. The subjects of the study were jimbe drum craftsmen in Sentul Village, Blitar City, Head of the Cooperatives and MSMEs Office of Blitar City, Head of the Trade and Industry Office, Head of Sentul Village, Blitar City. Data collection was carried out by direct interviews with research subjects, observation and documentation. Triangulation of methods and data sources was carried out to obtain accurate data. Data analysis using the Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2024) formula and SWOT analysis. The results of the study showed that there are 2 types of Jimbe drums MSMEs in Sentul village, namely craftsmen and collectors, who do not yet have an association/ cooperative to accommodate the aspirations of craftsmen. The obstacles faced revolve around the difficulty of accessing capital and obtaining raw materials. Based on the SWOT analysis, the appropriate strategy for sustainable upgrading is to first improve the organization, help access capital and increase international marketing reach through partnerships.

Abstract

This research examines the importance of exploring foreign market entry strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by a case study of Creative Kokedama, an SME that developed product innovations from ordinary flowering plants into ornamental plant kokedama and successfully penetrated the Japanese market, the country origin of kokedama. The research findings indicate that the main motivation for Creative Kokedama to expand into the international market is intrinsic motivation. The owner reasoned that kokedama plant crafts originated from Japan, so she wanted to bring kokedama back to Japan. She has his own satisfaction when she is able to bring kokedama to the Japanese market. That motivation can related to psychological factors, such as the desire for self-development and global recognition, as well as ethnocentrism, which is pride in local cultural values reflected in the kokedama products. The entry mode chosen is direct exporting, which does not go through an intermediary, but directly to foreign buyer. Japan was chosen as the export destination country because Japan is the origin country of kokedama. Although previously it had also exported to Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore. Selection of export destination country can be related to pull factor theory in internationalization, Japan as the country of origin for kokedama, may have a high appreciation for products with unique approaches or modifications. This research contributes to the literature on SME internationalization strategies by offering insights into the importance of the combination of product innovation and intrinsic motivation especially psychological factors in achieving export success. Moreover, these findings can also serve as practical guidance for other SMEs looking to enter the global market through innovation and locally value-based strategies.

Abstract

Companies listed on the IDX are required to report their financial statements in a timely manner. However, in the existing phenomenon, many companies still experience delays in financial reporting. This study aims to identify factors that influence audit report lag in Consumer cyclicals sector companies listed on the IDX for the 2017-2021 period. The dependent variable is audit report lag, the independent variables are operational difficulties, audit tenure, financial distress, and the moderating variable is the size of the KAP. This study is a type of quantitative research with multiple regression analysis methods. The data used are secondary data in the form of financial reports from the official IDX website. A sample of 175 company financial reports was taken using the purposive sampling method. Based on the results of statistical tests, it was obtained that the operational difficulty variable did not affect ARL, the audit tenure variable affected ARL, the financial distress variable affected ARL, the KAP size variable was unable to moderate the effect of operational complexity on ARL, the KAP size variable was able to moderate the effect of operational complexity on ARL and the effect of audit tenure on ARL, the KAP size variable was able to moderate the effect of financial distress on ARL, the effect of operational complexity, audit tenure and financial distress simultaneously affected ARL.

Abstract

The low export performance of SMEs in Indonesia is a significant problem in supporting national economic growth because SMEs are often less able to take advantage of international market opportunities compared to large companies. One of the critical determinants of SME exports is networking and partnership relationships. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach to analyze the role of networking and partnerships in supporting SME exporters entering the international market. The study was conducted through a survey of 67 SME exporters in East Java who are members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. The results of the study indicate that SME exporters face various obstacles in marketing, human resources, finance, access to information, and the business environment. However, networking and partnerships have been proven to support their export activities. Strategic partners who play a role include government agencies, business partners, business associations, chambers of commerce, state-owned and private companies, universities, and support from family. This support includes information on international market data, business opportunities, potential analysis, access to capital, promotion, and competitive strategies in the global market. These findings indicate that SMEs that build good networks and partnerships can overcome various obstacles and challenges and gain significant benefits from entering the international market.

Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the tourism sector can be achieved through a comprehensive and integrated approach considering sustainable development's economic, social, and environmental dimensions. This research aims to analyze the influence of the dimensions of sustainability on tourist loyalty in tourism villages, with tourist satisfaction as a mediating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach. The number of samples used in this research was 394 tourists from tourism villages in Karanganyar Regency, Indonesia. The data analysis method uses PLS-SEM. The analysis findings indicate that economic, environmental, and institutional sustainability have a positive and significant impact on tourist satisfaction in the tourism village of Karanganyar Regency. Tourist satisfaction has favorably and considerably influenced tourist loyalty in the tourism village of Karanganyar Regency. Tourist satisfaction positively and significantly influences the relationship between economic sustainability, environmental sustainability, and institutional sustainability with tourist loyalty in the tourism village of Karanganyar Regency. Additionally, satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between economic, environmental, and institutional sustainability with tourist loyalty. This research develops a sustainability model for tourist villages that are increasingly developing worldwide. It can be used as a strategy or reference for tourist village managers to develop sustainable tourist villages.

Abstract

This study focuses on optimizing the renewable energy company's stock portfolio using the Markowitz model, which aims to balance risk and return for proper investment decision making. With the increasing demand for clean energy, portfolio optimization in the renewable energy sector is important for investors. This research takes into account historical stock performance and applies the Mean-Variance Optimization framework to minimize risk while maximizing return. This portfolio consists of selected renewable energy companies, and the analysis runs from September 2021 to August 2024. This study aims to analyze the allocation of investment portfolios in renewable energy company stocks in Indonesia. Based on the analysis results, the investment portfolio is allocated to five main stocks, namely BUMI.JK with an investment value of IDR 17,075,844 (17.08%), INDY.JK of IDR 5,825,852 (5.83%), KEEN.JK of IDR 33,766,798 (33.77%), RAJA.JK of IDR 43,084,876 (43.08%), and WIKA.JK of IDR 246,630 (0.25%). These results indicate that most of the funds are invested in RAJA.JK and KEEN.JK stocks, which contribute more than 75% of the total investment portfolio.
