Abstract

Cavities are still a common complaint in both children and adults. This condition cannot be ignored as it can affect a person's quality of life by causing pain, discomfort, disability, acute and chronic infections, eating and sleeping disorders, as well as a high risk of hospitalization. As a result, medical costs can increase significantly. One of the main causes of oral health problems in children is the lack of knowledge about how to maintain oral health. To address this issue, a health counseling was conducted focusing on "Dental and Oral Care in School Children of Kabar Baik Kindergarten in Ajibaho Village, Biru-biru District, Deli Serdang Regency." This counseling involved 32 students from Kabar Baik Kindergarten. Through this activity, the students were introduced to the importance of oral care, as well as practical ways to maintain dental hygiene. The counseling included learning about proper brushing techniques, the importance of a healthy diet, and prevention of excessive sugar consumption. In addition, students were also given information on good habits to maintain dental health, such as avoiding nail biting or finger sucking. By involving children from an early age in education about oral care, it is hoped that their awareness of the importance of maintaining oral health will increase. This counseling aims to prevent cavities in the future and improve children's quality of life with healthy habits implemented early on.

Abstract

Every family has health duties that aim to prevent health problems and care for sick family members. Family health duties include five main aspects: preventing illness, maintaining health, managing existing illnesses, participating in health programs, and coping with emergency situations. The implementation of these health duties is often influenced by the family culture, including the values and customs of a particular ethnic group. This study focuses on the implementation of family health duties in the Minangkabau community, which is known for its matrilineal kinship system. The population of this study consisted of Minangkabau families in Nogo Rejo Village, Galang Sub-district. The main objective of this study was to identify how Minangkabau families carry out their health duties. The results showed that knowledge about the implementation of family health duties in the Minangkabau community is still limited. This indicates that further research is needed to uncover the cultural factors that influence the implementation of family health duties among the Minangkabau. By digging deeper into family health practices in this cultural context, it is hoped that more appropriate approaches can be found in supporting Minangkabau families in maintaining health and caring for sick family members. This research provides an important basis for further exploration of how Minangkabau cultural values and practices may influence family health. Through a deeper understanding of the relationship between culture and family health, more effective intervention efforts can be designed to improve the quality of life of Minangkabau people.

Abstract

Indonesia's population has increased from 265,015,300 people in 2018 to 268,074,600 people in 2019. The government created a program to intervene in the problem of uncontrolled population growth, namely the family planning (KB) program. The Long-Term Contraceptive Method (MKJP) with implants is one of the leading contraceptives from BKKBN. MKJP is the government's effort to reduce population growth. The purpose of this service is to help the government to achieve coverage of long-term contraceptive use through free counseling and installation. The results of a brief interview with family planning acceptors, most of them chose pills and injections because they were afraid to use implants and IUDs. The fear is caused by the method of installation and the side effects that can be caused. The results that have been achieved in this service are 56% of the family planning acceptor groups in the area are interested in being fitted with MHJP, which shows the success of this activity. We hope that in the future this coverage can continue to increase. We will continue to run this program by continuing to provide counseling and health education to family planning acceptors so that they can clearly illustrate the effectiveness of MHJP is greater than non-MKJP by 99.4%.

Abstract

Dengue fever (DHF) is a serious febrile illness transmitted by the bite of the female Aedes aegypti mosquito. The disease is of serious concern as it can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. DHF affects the human circulatory system and can result in serious complications or even death. Therefore, prevention and early treatment efforts are very important to reduce the impact of this disease. Health counseling activities on the prevention and treatment of DHF in hamlet IV of Lobu Huala village aim to increase community understanding of the importance of preventing and treating this disease. Through this activity, the community can gain the necessary knowledge to protect themselves and their families from the risk of DHF. The methods used in this counseling include providing information and education to the community on effective ways to prevent the spread of DHF. One of the main approaches is to eradicate the Aedes aegypti mosquito vector, which is the main cause of dengue transmission. The community is taught how to manage their surroundings, such as cleaning up stagnant water that can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes, and keeping their homes and yards clean. In addition, the counseling also provides information on the signs and symptoms of DHF, the first actions to take if someone is infected, and the importance of seeking immediate medical attention if symptoms worsen. With this knowledge, the community is expected to be more aware of the symptoms of DHF and take appropriate steps to prevent its spread. The results of this counseling activity showed that the community of hamlet IV of Lobu Huala village began to understand and implement better dengue mosquito eradication practices. They are also more aware of the importance of maintaining environmental hygiene and taking regular preventive measures. With this increased understanding, it is hoped that dengue cases in the area can be significantly reduced, so that the quality of life of the community can be improved and the risk of disease can be minimized.
