Abstract

This research is entitled The Phenomenon of Gender Bias in the Male Kpopers Community (Case Study on USU MEDAN FISIP Kpopers Students). This study explains the gender bias that K-Pop fanboys get which is caused by the “collision” of masculinity that society has with that exhibited by K-Pop. This study uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach with informants who are determined by snowball sampling. There were 12 informants in this study with 10 main informants and 2 additional informants. The results of the study show that K-Pop fanboys get gender bias in the form of stereotypes. K-Pop fanboys get gender bias by being labeled as effeminate, feminine, less male, feminine, less masculine, less macho, and gay. The construction of gender bias occurs as a result of the display of soft masculinity by K-Pop idols, the K-Pop market which is dominated by women, the collision of masculinity displayed by K-Pop with masculinity presents in societu (macho), inferiority of femininity, incongruity with gender views openness to femininity, not trapped in the construction of masculinity and the application of soft masculinity by K-Pop fanboys in everyday life simply in the sense that it is not too soft masculinity.

Abstract

The differences in biological anatomy between men and women are pretty straightforward, but the problem is the effects caused by these sex differences. The issue of differences is what then causes much debate in various circles. Biological sex differences (sex) formed through the body's anatomy also give rise to several types of judgments in the framework of thinking, which are then carried over to the behavior of everyday life, the behavior of society (customs), religion, and even the country. That cultural interpretation is then understood as gender. The structure, the social system of society, and even some interpretations that tend to be patriarchal further strengthen the ideology of society, which creates injustice for women. Ultimately, this condition is realized by women as a condition that imprisons them in a social downturn. Then a women's movement emerged, which claimed to be a feminist movement to fight for the fate of women. Because of this, there is also an interpretation from a feminist point of view. Using qualitative methods, and literature review, researchers want to explain how gender is understood and the construction of feminist interpretations in Indonesia. This is important to know the development of interpretation related to gender in Indonesia. Feminism, especially in Islam, is not a movement of rebellion against men but an understanding that wants to respect women. There is no discrimination, Marginalization, or subordination. Studies from a feminist point of view in Indonesia have continued to develop to date.

Abstract

The indigenous people of Lampung Pagar Dewa Tulang Bawang Barat distinguish between men and women, men in the public domain, and women in the domestic sphere. The gender distinction in the "Pepadun" society is none other than the patriarchal system that has been cultivated and its impact on indigenous women. This study aims to analyze patriarchal gender relations and their impact on women in the indigenous people of Lampung Pagar Dewa Tulang Bawang Barat. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach in the indigenous people of Lampung Pagar Dewa Tulang Bawang Barat. Research data is primary data which is directly obtained from the results of field observations then in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD), secondary data is also obtained from various sources according to the research topic. Data was analyzed by qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that traditionally "Pepadun" society views the social status of men as having to be higher than that of women and the position of women should be subordinated to men. This is evidenced through the marriage system and the applied inheritance system. Indigenous-based patriarchal cultures create injustice for Indigenous women. The division of roles forms a functional social structure that is supposed to protect women but there are dysfunctional men. The dominance of patriarchy is increasingly excessive, causing gender injustice which boils down to cases of violence against indigenous women in Lampung Pagar Dewa Tulang Bawang Barat

Abstract

This article discusses the representation of patriarchy in the Arab World, especially Yemen. Various forms of violence, oppression, and discrimination against women and children are described in a literary work entitled Ana Najud Ibnatu Al-Asyirah wa Mutallaqah. The novel is also a form of criticism and resistance by the author against the patriarchal culture still strongly embedded in the social environment in which the author lives. The method used in data analysis is the dialectical method, namely the data contained in literary works will be connected to the data contained in the reality of society. This research uses the genetic structuralism approach coined by Lucien Goldmann, who studied literature from aspects of the author's social environment and society to facilitate analysis. The research results show that there is an equivalence (homology) between the structure of the work and the structure of Yemeni society at that time. This equality is found in the worldview of a particular collective subject that the author voices in his work. The views of resistance to patriarchy mentioned above represent the views of oppressed groups of women, especially underage women who experienced forced marriage (shighar) at that time.

Abstract

As adherents of a patriarchal culture, Madurese society places women as part of the family who must be protected, cared for and fought for by men. Madurese women are in a different space from men. Since the presence of Dewi Khalifah (Nyai Eva) in political contestation, it has become a phenomenon in itself as the first woman to occupy the highest public office in a district in Madura. The main problem of this article is related to Nyai Eva's role as an agent of gender equality and women's empowerment in Sumenep Regency. This phenomenon is dissected using qualitative methods with a series of scientific work processes which include observation, interviews and documentation. The role theory proposed by Kozier Barbara is used as an analytical tool. The findings of this research show that Nyai Eva plays a role in building gender equality and women's empowerment in the fields of education and economics in Sumenep Regency. Nyai Eva's success was supported by her social status as a respected woman in Madurese society.
