Abstract

The high demands of administration and activities report at Integrated Service Posts (Posyandu) requiring cadres skills in documenting data accurately. In this field, the reality shows that many cadres lack adequate knowledge regarding. The Posyandu information system, especially the Arumdalu Posyandu. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the relationship between cadres' knowledge and ability to document reports on the Arumdalu Posyandu information system. The quantitative analytical research design used a cross-sectional, longitudinal (pre-post digital training), and mixed methods approach, complemented by Social Network Analysis (SNA). The research sample consisted of 60 Posyandu cadres at the Arumdalu Posyandu in the Sanggrahan Health Center working area, Sukoharjo Regency. Analysis was conducted univariately, bivariately using the Spearman Rank correlation test, multivariate with logistic regression, pre-post training test with Wilcoxon, qualitatively through FGDs, and SNA to map interactions between cadres. The results showed a significant relationship between cadres' knowledge and their ability to document reports (p = 0.003; r = 0.421). Multivariate analysis showed a significant effect of knowledge (OR = 3.42; 95% CI: 1.45–8.06), and education was also significant (OR = 2.87; 95% CI: 1.12–7.39). Longitudinal testing showed an average 22% increase in documentation skills after digital training (p < 0.001). Qualitative analysis identified motivation, workload, and institutional support as important factors, while SNA found the presence of key cadres as centers for information dissemination. In conclusion, increasing cadre capacity through digital training, supervision, institutional support, and utilizing cadres social networks is crucial for improving the quality of Posyandu cadres reporting.

Abstract

Stroke is the leading cause of death and disability in Indonesia, with a high prevalence reported in the Indonesian Health Survey (IHS) 2023. Smoking, consumption of fatty foods, and intake of soft drinks are major risk factors contributing to the increasing incidence of both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. This study aims to analyze the effects of smoking habits, fatty food consump-tion, and soft drink intake on stroke incidence in Indonesia using secondary data from IHS 2023. A quantitative design was applied, with chi-square test analysis performed using SPSS. The study population comprised all individuals recorded in the IHS 2023, which covered 38 provinces in Indonesia. Results showed that the age group 65–74 years had the highest incidence of stroke (35.4%), with a higher prevalence among men (8.8%) compared to women (7.9%). Education level and type of occupation were also associated with stroke prevalence. Statistical analysis demonstrated that smoking (p = 0.013), fatty food consumption (p = 0.003), and soft drink intake (p = 0.002) were significantly associated with stroke incidence. Among these, soft drink con-sumption was the strongest predictor (p = 0.001; OR = 3.717). In conclusion, smoking, fatty food consumption, and soft drink intake significantly affect stroke incidence in Indonesia, with soft drink consumption being the most influential factor.

Abstract

Smoking behavior remains a health challenge in Indonesian society. Riskesdas data shows an increase in smoking prevalence in adolescent groups. One of the control efforts is the implementation of PHW (Pictorial Health Warnings) on cigarette packs in accordance with Permenkes RI No. 28 of 2013. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of cigarette packs in influencing smoking intention and behavior PHW among adolescents in Tanah Bumbu Regency, Banjarbaru City and Banjarmasin City. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. Samples were obtained through an accidental sampling technique, obtaining 315 smoking adolescents and 62 non-smoking adolescents. The instrument was a modified version of the Global Youth Tobacco Survey questionnaire. The analysis used was a linear regression test. The results further showed that 64.5% of respondents who did not smoke stated that their intention was very likely due to fear (89.03%) after seeing the warning and the image of smoking causing lung cancer, hence they did not smoke. Furthermore, there is a relationship between pictorial warnings on cigarette packaging with fear (p-value = 0.0001, r = 0.430) with a positive influence of 16.3%. In adolescent smokers, smoking pictures causing throat cancer 2 caused the most fear (71.3%) and the highest urge to quit smoking (66.48%). There is a relationship between pictorial warnings with fear (p-value = 0.0001, r = 0.195) and smoking cessation intensity (p-value = 0.0001, r = 0.728). The positive effect on fear was 3.5% and smoking cessation intensity was 52.9%.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) and tobacco use represent two of the most pervasive global health challenges, with a particularly profound impact in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). Although numerous reviews have explored the clinical and epidemiological associations between TB and smoking. A systematic analysis of publication trends is lacking. This study aims to address this gap by providing a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the intersection between TB and tobacco use, mapping its evolution, key research themes, collaboration networks, and underexplored areas. This study utilized a bibliometric method. Data from 13,876 articles indexed in Scopus were analyzed using RStudio, VOSViewer, and OpenRefine. PLOS ONE emerged as the most prolific journal, with Wang Y being the leading author, having published 178 articles. The University of California was identified as the leading institution with 707 publications. Emerging research topics include mathematical modeling and numerical simulation, reflecting increasing attention to computational approaches in respiratory disease research. Country collaboration networks revealed the United States as the dominant contributor, with significant partnerships with African countries. These findings emphasize the importance of smoking prevention in TB control strategies, offering insights to inform public health policies and guide future research on TB and smoking’s health impacts.

Abstract

Stress during pregnancy can negatively impact the health of both the mother and the fetus, especially in the first trimester, which is a period of intense physical and emotional adaptation. This study aims to determine the prevalence and psychosocial factors associated with the occurrence of stress in first-trimester pregnant women in Makassar City. This study uses a cross-sectional design involving 256 first-trimester pregnant women from five public health centers in the suburban areas of Makassar City. Data were collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS10) instrument was used to measure stress levels. Analysis was conducted bivariately and multivariately using logistic regression. The prevalence of severe stress among pregnant women in the first trimester was 36.72%. Multivariate analysis revealed two factors significantly associated with severe stress: low family income (adjusted Prevalence Ratio (aPR) = 2.32; 95% CI: 1.15–4.66; p = 0.018) and poor interpersonal relationships with parents or in-laws (adjusted Prevalence Ratio (aPR) = 4.63; 95% CI: 1.53–14.02; p = 0.007). Socioeconomic factors and interpersonal relationships with parents/in-laws influence the high levels of stress experienced by first-trimester pregnant women. Early intervention that considers the family's economic aspects and social support from the surrounding environment is critical in preventing stress during pregnancy.

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health challenge with complex, interconnected causative factors. Traditional static approaches fail to capture the dynamic relationships between environmental, health, and socioeconomic determinants. Dynamic modeling is essential for understanding these multifaceted interactions and developing effective prevention policies. Despite declining trends, Padang City's high prevalance of stunting necessitates urgent, targeted interventions to achieve national targets. This study aims to develop a dynamic model analyzing stunting factors in Padang City and formulate effective prevention policies. A quantitative descriptive method with a dynamic systems approach was employed. Primary data were obtained through stakeholder questionnaires, while secondary data were obtained from the Padang City Health Office and Statistical Reports (2018-2023). Analysis utilized PowerSim Studio 10 for dynamic systems modeling and Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) for policy strategy development. Seven main factors influencing stunting were identified: low birth weight, maternal health, immunization, diarrhea, living in slum areas, access to clean water access, and household sanitation. Simulation modeling demonstrated that improving environmental conditions, increasing immunization coverage, and administering iron tablets could reduce stunting rates by 50% over 25 years. ISM analysis revealed environmental factors (sanitation, waste management, and access clean water) as key elements with the highest driving force. Consistent immunization coverage could reduce stunting prevalence from 24.2% to 12% within the projection period, while improved sanitation programs may lower prevalence by 15%. The research provides an integrated approach prioritizing basic infrastructure improvement, environmental sanitation enhancement, cross-sector coordination, and community capacity building. This dynamic modeling framework offers valuable insights for comprehensive stunting prevention strategies. However, limitations include a modeling-only scope requiring field validation for implementation effectiveness.

Abstract

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death worldwide, with a greater impact on low- and middle-income countries, particularly coastal communities that depend on fragile ecosystems. This study explores the effects of sociodemographic, behavioral, and metabolic factors on CVD incidence among the coastal population of Soropia, Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi. This research employs a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and applies Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Smart PLS software. Data collection was conducted through standardized questionnaires and physical examinations. The findings reveal that age significantly reduces CVD risk (p = 0.043, Exp(B) = 0.378), while gender and occupation show no significant impact. Among behavioral factors, a history of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) significantly lowers CVD risk (p = 0.024, Exp(B) = 0.158), whereas smoking, alcohol consumption, and physical activity are not associated with CVD Risk. In the metabolic group, Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is the only significant factor influencing metabolic risk (p = 0.026, Exp(B) = 0.615). Other metabolic markers, including waist circumference and blood glucose, show weak associations. These results highlight the critical role of addressing behavioral and metabolic risk factors in reducing CVD burden, particularly through targeted public health interventions tailored to the unique challenges faced by coastal populations. The study underscores the importance of integrating behavioral modifications and metabolic risk management in health programs to mitigate CVD risks effectively.

Abstract

The presence of more than one type of nutritional disorder in a person's body is called Coexisting Forms of Malnutrition (CFM). Children with CFM, such as those experiencing stunting, wasting, and underweight, 12.3 fold risk of death (CI=7.67-19.28) compared to healthy children. Southeast Sulawesi has the tenth highest prevalence of these cases. This study used secondary data based on the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) 2022 with a cross-sectional design using complex sample analysis. The sample was children under five from Southeast Sulawesi Province, with a final sample size of 8,518 children analyzed. The median age of the sample was 32 months, most of them were male (50.5%), the median birth weight was 3,128.8 grams, and most of their nutritional intake was not diverse (92.1%). Bivariate analysis used chi-square, and multivariate analysis used logistic regression with a full model approach. 3.1% of children had CFM (stunting and wasting). Factors associated with this case based on bivariate analysis (p-value <0.05) were child age, sex, mother's education, mother's occupation, food security, sanitation, socioeconomic status, weight measurement, and vitamin A administration. Factors associated with this case based on multivariate analysis were child age 36-47 months (OR=4.027; 95% CI=1.838-8.825; p-value=0.001), male (OR=1.832; CI=1.324-2.536; p< 0.000), child with Low Birth Weight (LBW) (OR=3.061; CI=1.879-4.986; p<0.000), and poorest socioeconomic status (quintile 1) (OR=3.109; CI=1.641-5.890; p<0.001).

Abstract

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is always associated with Sick Building Syndromes (SBS) despite the age of the buildings, particularly in buildings where indoor air pollutants may affect occupants’ health and productivity. This study assessed IAQ parameters and SBS symptoms in five selected public buildings aged 10 and above in Shah Alam, Selangor. Physical, chemical and biological parameters were measured, while structured questionnaires were completed by 87 respondents occupying the buildings. Most IAQ parameters were within the ranges of the Industry Code of Practice on IAQ (ICOP IAQ 2010), except for air velocity, formaldehyde and Total Volatile Organic Compound (TVOC) in two buildings. Statistical analyses showed no association between the building type and SBS occurrence, and no significant differences (p > 0.05) in air velocity, TVOC, CO2 or fungal count among the buildings. In order to reduce SBS risks and enhance SBS, the source of contaminants should be tackled and regular monitoring should be implemented to ensure compliance with IAQ limits.

Abstract

Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, stroke, diabetes mellitus, and heart disease are major causes of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. Community behaviors, including smoking, low physical activity, and unhealthy diets, significantly influence NCD incidence. To analyze associations between behavioral risk factors (daily smoking, physical inactivity, consumption of sugary foods and drinks, salty foods, fatty foods, soft drinks, and inadequate fruit intake) and the prevalence of NCDs, and to classify regions based on risk factors and disease prevalence. A cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (IHS), encompassing 345,000 households across 39 provinces. The Ministry of Health collected the data through standardized interviews and health examinations conducted by trained surveyors. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and K-Means Clustering. Daily smoking correlated positively with hypertension, stroke, and diabetes. Fatty food consumption showed strong positive associations with the same diseases (r = 0.45–0.48, p < 0.01). Soft drink consumption demonstrated a significant negative correlation, especially with stroke (r = -0.66, p < 0.001). Hypertension (7.2%) and stroke (7.1%) were more prevalent than diabetes (2.0%) and heart disease (0.76%). North Maluku showed the highest behavioral risks, Bali the lowest. DI Yogyakarta and DKI Jakarta had the highest NCD prevalence, while the Papua Mountains had the lowest. K-Means clustering grouped provinces into low, medium, and high-risk clusters. Community behaviors, particularly smoking and fatty food intake, significantly affect NCD prevalence. Public health programs should target smoking cessation, healthy diet promotion, and increased physical activity to reduce the NCD burden.
