Abstract

Introduction: Breast milk is the optimal source of nutrition for infants; however, many postpartum mothers experience inadequate breast milk flow during the early postpartum period. One non-pharmacological intervention that may support lactation is the application of warm breast compresses, which can stimulate milk ejection and improve blood circulation. This study aimed to examine the effect of warm breast compresses on breast milk flow in postpartum mothers at Lala Medicare Clinic. Methods: This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. A total of 30 postpartum mothers were selected using total sampling. Breast milk flow was assessed before and after the intervention. Warm breast compresses were applied at a temperature of 40–45°C for 15–20 minutes according to standard procedures. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: The proportion of mothers with adequate breast milk flow increased from 26.7% before the intervention to 66.7% after the intervention, while those with inadequate flow decreased from 33.3% to 6.6%. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in breast milk flow before and after the intervention (p = 0.001). Conclusions: There is an effect of warm compress application on breast milk flow in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

Introduction: Sleep pattern disturbances are conditions in which individuals experience changes in the quantity and quality of sleep that result in discomfort. One of the factors influencing children’s sleep patterns is habitual behaviour, particularly lifestyles characterized by excessive dependence on technology. This study aimed to analyse the relationship between the level of gadget addiction and sleep patterns among fourth- to sixth-grade elementary school students at SDN X, Madiun Regency. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design with a simple random sampling technique. A total of 38 students from grades 4 to 6 participated in the study. Data were analysed using the Spearman Rank correlation test to determine the association between gadget addiction levels and sleep patterns. Results: The results showed that most respondents (76.3%) had a moderate level of gadget addiction, while 15.8% had a low level of gadget use. In terms of sleep patterns, 81.6% of the students experienced sleep disturbances, whereas 18.4% did not. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between gadget addiction levels and sleep patterns (p-value = 0.002; α = 0.05). Conclusions: In conclusion, there is a significant association between gadget addiction and sleep disturbances among elementary school students. It is recommended that students regulate gadget use to improve sleep quality, and that teachers provide regular education regarding responsible gadget use to support healthy sleep patterns.

Abstract

Introduction: Scabies is a contagious skin condition and a persistent public health issue in many tropical regions, including Indonesia. Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors play a central role in preventing transmission, particularly in communities with limited sanitation. Objectives: This study aimed to identify community patterns of knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors associated with scabies occurrence in the Wolofeo region. Methods: This descriptive quantitative study included 70 respondents selected through purposive sampling from individuals who had previously received outpatient treatment for scabies at the Wolofeo Health Center. Data were collected using a standardized questionnaire that had undergone content validation and reliability testing. Validity was supported by a CVI of 0.87, and reliability was confirmed through a pilot test yielding a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.82. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency and percentage distributions. Results: Most respondents demonstrated good knowledge of hygiene and scabies prevention. Attitudes toward Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors were overwhelmingly positive, with nearly all participants expressing favorable views. All respondents reported good hygiene practices, indicating strong behavioral adoption of preventive measures. Demographic characteristics, particularly adulthood and senior high school education levels, were associated with higher readiness to implement preventive behaviors. Conclusions: The community showed strong preparedness for scabies prevention through good knowledge, positive attitudes, and consistent hygiene practices. However, a small subset exhibited limited understanding and less favorable attitudes, highlighting the need for sustained health education. Future research should incorporate observational methods to validate self-reported practices and better inform targeted prevention strategies.

Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive disease that requires patients to undergo long-term hemodialysis. This process places various physical and psychological demands on patients, requiring them to consistently manage their self-care. Self-efficacy is a crucial factor that influences patients’ confidence in undergoing therapy, while family support plays a significant role in helping patients maintain motivation and compliance during treatment. However, patients' self-efficacy may be impacted by the varying degrees of family support they receive. Purpose: Understanding the connection between self-efficacy and family support in hemodialysis patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD). Methods: Her research employed a cross-sectional methodology and a correlational quantitative design. Using basic random sampling, 102 patients made up the sample. Family support and self-efficacy questionnaires were used to gather data, and the Spearman Rank test was used for analysis with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: Most respondents showed great self-efficacy (91.2%) and strong familial support (91.2%). Family support and self-efficacy were strongly and significantly correlated (r = 0.612; p = 0.000). Conclusion: The degree of self-efficacy of CKD patients receiving hemodialysis is strongly correlated with family support. Optimal Family Support can increase patients’ confidence and ability to manage their care.

Abstract

Introduction: Higher education institutions operate in complex and uncertain environments shaped by digital transformation, financial pressures, governance challenges, and increasing stakeholder demands. These conditions expose institutions to strategic, operational, academic, and reputational risks that influence managerial decision-making and institutional sustainability. Objectives: This study aimed to conduct a literature review and synthesize the literature on risk management practices and their implications for managerial decision-making in higher education institutions, with particular attention to governance and performance outcomes. Methods: A literature review was conducted using Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Articles published between 2020 and 2025 were screened using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Titles and abstracts were reviewed, followed by full-text assessment. Data were extracted on study design, thematic focus, and managerial implications. A thematic synthesis approach was applied to identify recurring patterns across studies. Results: The findings indicated that risk management improved the effectiveness of quality assurance, institutional governance, service quality, and organizational performance. Institutions with higher risk management maturity demonstrated stronger integration of governance structures, strategic planning, and performance monitoring systems. Risk-based approaches enhanced evidence-based managerial decision-making, institutional accountability, and academic competitiveness. However, fragmented implementation and limited governance capacity remained significant challenges. Conclusions: Risk management functions as a strategic governance instrument that strengthens managerial decision-making and institutional resilience in higher education. Integrating risk-based frameworks into governance and performance systems is essential for sustainable institutional development, particularly in complex and rapidly changing educational environments.

Abstract

Introduction: Parenting style is a critical determinant of adolescent psychological well-being, yet evidence from semi-rural Indonesian settings remains limited. This study examined the relationship between parenting style and psychological well-being among adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Pacet. Methods: A cross-sectional correlational design was employed involving 192 students aged 14–16 years. Parenting style was measured using the Parenting Style Four Factor Questionnaire (PS-FFQ), and psychological well-being was assessed using the Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale (18 items). Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test to determine the association between the variables. Results: Authoritative parenting was the dominant style (65.1%), while authoritarian (16.7%), permissive (10.9%), and uninvolved (7.3%) were less prevalent. Most adolescents demonstrated high psychological well-being (63.0%), followed by low (18.8%) and moderate (18.2%) levels. Chi-Square analysis revealed a highly significant relationship between parenting style and psychological well-being (χ² = 180.999; df = 6; p < 0.001). Adolescents with authoritative parents consistently showed higher psychological well-being, while other parenting styles were associated with lower levels. Conclusions: Parenting style significantly influences adolescent psychological well-being, with authoritative parenting serving as a strong protective factor. These findings highlight the importance of supportive, structured, and communicative parenting practices in promoting adolescent emotional health. Interventions aimed at strengthening positive parenting and enhancing family–school collaboration may improve adolescent well-being in semi-rural communities.

Abstract

Introduction: Primary health care plays a vital role in ensuring equitable access to essential health services; however, quality and patient safety gaps remain significant, particularly in resource-limited settings. Risk management is recognized as a governance strategy for reducing preventable harm and improving service quality, yet its implementation at the facility level is often inconsistent. Objectives: This study aimed to examine how risk management was implemented and its contribution to improving service quality at Siriwo Primary Health Care in Indonesia. Methods: A qualitative single-case study design was conducted. Participants included the health center director, quality improvement officers, health professionals, and administrative staff with at least 1 year of experience. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document reviews. All interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data were analyzed thematically using coding, categorization, and theme development. Triangulation across data sources was applied to enhance credibility and rigor. Results: Risk management was implemented progressively through risk identification, assessment, and control integrated into routine service activities. Key risks included patient safety incidents, service delays, procedural errors, supply limitations, and human resource constraints. The implementation strengthened adherence to standard operating procedures, improved internal monitoring, enhanced staff awareness of patient safety, reduced the recurrence of complaints, and increased perceived community satisfaction. Conclusions: Integrating structured risk management into daily operations improved service quality and fostered a stronger patient safety culture. Context-adapted risk governance may be an effective strategy for enhancing primary health care performance in resource-limited settings.

Abstract

Introduction: Comprehensive competency, the integration of three learning domains (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor), is the primary target for graduates in nursing education. In reality, these three learning domains are often not achieved through conventional learning methods. The Tell-Show-Do method is expected to provide an effective solution for achieving holistic learning simultaneously. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the Tell-Show-Do method in optimizing holistic learning outcomes (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor). Methods: This quasi-experimental study, with a pre-test, post-test, and control group design, involved 122 D3 Nursing students from the Pasuruan City Campus, divided into two groups: treatment (n=61) and control (n=61). Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test, Independent Sample T-Test, and Mann-Whitney U test, with a significance level of α=0.05. Results: The TSD method showed convincing significance in all three domains: Cognitive (Δ=+7.77, p<0.001, d=2.76), Affective (Δ=+9.72, p<0.001, d=3.47), and Psychomotor (Δ=+10.26, p<0.001, d=3.80). The control group did not show any significant improvement (p>0.05). Conclusions: The Tell-Show-Do method has a significant impact on all three domains of learning outcomes, particularly psychomotor skills. Recommendation: Integrate TSD into the nursing education curriculum.

Abstract

Introduction: Marriage is a crucial phase in a woman’s reproductive life that affects physical, mental, and social well-being. In Surabaya, the number of marriages has consistently declined over the past five years, from 18,451 in 2019 to 15,870 in 2023—a decrease of approximately 13.99%. This downward trend raises concerns due to its potential implications on reproductive health, particularly when marriage and pregnancy are delayed into later age. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the declining decision to marry among early adult women in Surabaya. Methods: This research applied a quantitative observational approach with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted from November 2024 to April 2025 in Surabaya. A total of 98 unmarried women aged 20–40 years were selected through purposive sampling. Inclusion criteria included being unmarried, aged 20–40, and residing in Surabaya. Respondents who were unwilling to participate were excluded. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: The majority of respondents (91.8%) had no plans to get married. Bivariate analysis showed that age (p-value = 0.000), income (p-value = 0.002), financial readiness (p-value = 0.015), and occupation (p-value = 0.000) had significant associations with marriage decisions. Meanwhile, education level (p-value = 0.767), family support (p-value = 0.434), and attitudes toward marriage (p-value = 0.363) showed no significant association. Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between age, economic factors, and occupation with marriage decisions among early adult women in Surabaya. No significant relationship was found between education level, family support, and attitudes toward marriage with marriage decisions in early adult women.
