Tulisan Ilmiah Pariwisata (TULIP) is a Journal published by Tourism Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gorontalo Tulisan Ilmiah Pariwisata (TULIP), with E-ISSN 2720-9873 (Online) is a Peer-reviewed journal published twice in June and December by Tourism Department, Universitas Muhammadiyah Gorontalo. Tulip aims to disseminate and provide information to the parties concerned in the study of Tourism. Tulisan Ilmiah Pariwisata (TULIP) is a scientific journal in the field of tourism studies. The manuscript can be a research paper, review articles, as well as conceptual, technical, and methodological papers on all aspects, includes research findings, experimental design, analysis, and recent application in tour and travel studies. The scope of these areas includes tourism planning, geography, tourism management, destination, traveling, environment, economics, gastronomic, heritage, and culture. Abstract

Special Interest Tourism (SIT) is defined as travelling with the primary motivation of practicing or enjoying a special interest. This can include unusual hobbies, activities, themes or attractions which tend to atract visitors. This research aims at analyzing the strategy of developing Karawo embroidery as a special interest tourism in Gorontalo. A case study conducted in Karawo embroidery center. Moreover, Karawo embroidery, one of traditional cultural activities in Gorontalo which has been inherited from generation to generation, has gained great attention and effort from the local government to attract visitors to come, yet the report said there is no increase in visitors. Therefore, in this case, the writer focuses on the strategy to develop Karawo embroidery center so as to attract more visitors or tourists to come. This research has three main goals to achieve. 1) Gaining perception from the local or foreign tourists about Karawo, 2) Identifying obstacles faced in developing Karawo embroidery as special interest tourism, 3) Formulating the strategy in developing Karawo embroidery as special interest tourism in Gorontalo. Moreover, this research conducted by using mixed method. However, qualitative descriptive method was primarily applied in this research. While quantitative was applied to attain supporting data. Furthermore, results show that Karawo embroidery, overall, is considered very attractive. According to the SWOT analysis, the strategy chosen to be applied is by combining Strength and Opportunity (SO) or aggressive strategy. This was based on the Cartesian diagram mapping which was created by applying weighted score on each factor.

Abstract

This article analysis the development of karawo embroidery as a tourist attraction. The objectives of this article areto figure out the tourists’ perception, to identify the development phase andto formulate the development strategies of karawo embroidery. The result of this article shows that karawoembroidery overall is excellent. However there are some points need to be improved.karawoembroidery development is in the introduction phase, while the development strategies based on SWOT matrix analysis are: 1) SO strategy is a strategy uses the power to takeadvantages of opportunities to design a tourist attraction package and improving the promotion by the electronic media. 2) ST strategy is a strategy uses the power of addressing threats by making a training and some competitions of karawo embroidery. 3) WO strategy is a strategy that minimizes the weaknesses in taking advantage of opportunities by expanding the distribution, educate the marketer, improve the creativity of the craftswoman and the designer, doing the experiment of creating a tool that can help the craftswoman and distributing flyers at the hotels. 4) WT strategy is a strategy that minimize the weaknesses of avoiding the threats by karawo embroidery preservation and improving the kuality of karawo embroidery

Abstract

Botutonuo beach is one of tourism destinations in Bone Bolango regency, Gorontalo Province. There are several problems of Botutonuobeach such as human resource, internal and external factors of tourism development, and the development strategy of Botutonuo beach. The fundamental problem is the development of this tourism destination which has not been optimal yet. This research is to provide appropriate guidance in terms of development strategy of Botutonuo beach. The development strategy is to improve the quality of human resource, internal and external factors of tourism development, and the development strategy of Botutonuo beach so that this tourism spot can be developed optimally. This research applies qualitative approach (observation, in-depth interview, and library research). It is conducted to investigate the actual condition of Botutonuo beach such as human resource, SWOT analysis to identify the internal and external factors, and to codify the grand strategy of tourism development of Botutonuo beach. Research result shows that there are several problems on Boutonuo beach. They are; the potentials of Botutonuo beach have not been developed optimally in terms of human resource;the internal and external factors still contain weaknesses and threats, and the best grand strategy of development can be the strategy of SO, WO, ST, WT. Based on research result, it is suggested that the fundamental point to be developed is the quality of human resource. Moreover, in terms of internal and external factors, the government should develop the natural tourism of Botutonuo beach by improving the infrastructure, facilities, accommodation, accessibility, and more interesting tourism attraction. Finally, the government should apply WO strategy as the development strategy of Botutonuo beach

Abstract

Social media is one of a tool that has the function to increase and increase promotion and marketing, including Tourism sector. However, this tool developing social media which is a part of daily life, has different and varied implications in each use; Use anyone to use social media. If we look at it from the user's perspective, random results will be obtained. Especially if the users are people from various ages, education, and culture. However, in some studies the use of social media can be constrained in terms of its benefits, especially for tourism promotion and marketing purposes. The main focus of this article discussion include; Whichever organization uses and uses social media, what strategies are implemented, and the implications of today's and future for the audience. If we only observing social media consisting only of a series of updated popular applications, then in this paper offers opinions about some substantial research on using social media as a method for analyzing tourism market segmentation, by taking samples in several countries, in the field of Tourism such as DMO (Destination Marketing Organisation), and what form of communication results from social customer relationships management (SCRM) through social media. This article was prepared using a literature study of three articles that discuss the urgency of social media issues. These three studies were appointed as a rationale for social media in the country

Abstract

The development of natural tourism spot. For axample Lake limboto, is very related to the increasing of productivity of economic development, so that it is always faced the interaction condition of several importances which is involving local government environment  aspect, society aspect, and private part in land use system. This research applied qualitative method. The data of this reasearch were primary and secondary data. While the technique of data collection were interview, questioner, documentation and observation. The data analysis was conducted by applying conceptualization induction technique/approach. Based on the research, the development of Lake Limboto tourism spot in increasing the Local Revenues of Gorontalo could be conducted through several ways as follows: first, increasing the promotion in tourism especially Lake Limboto as a the tourism spot through cooperation with several intitutes. Second, building the  Tourism Information Center  (TIC) in an area which could give an accsess in promoting Lake Limboto torism spot. Third, increasing and developing products of Lake Limboto tourism spot. Fourth, implementing the tourism awarness training to the society who lived around Lake Limboto area. Lake Limboto generally were not giving the contribution maximally in increasing the Local Revenue in Gorontalo District, altthough various potential were supporting this tourism spot as one of assets which influenced the local economic
