The above fact calls for investigation on the effects of audio-visual media on academic achievement of senior secondary schools’ Islamic Studies students in Kwara State, Nigeria. This study adopted a quasi-experimental research design. the specific research design used was pretest and posttest, non-equivalent control group design. The population for this study was one hundred and fifty-seven (157) Islamic studies students in Ilorin South, Kwara State, Nigeria. Simple randomly sampling technique was using to select 50 SS II Islamic Studies students in senior secondary school in Ilorin South, Kwara State, Nigeria. This study also used  25 students for experimental group and 25 students for control group. Questionnaire was used for data analysis. Hypotheses were tested using t-test statistical package at an alpha level of 0.05. The finding of the study revealed that there was a significant difference in the academic achievement of private and public senior secondary school students taught Islamic studies using audio-visual media and those taught using chart. The result also revealed that there was no significant difference in academic achievement of male and female students taught Islamic studies using audio-visual media and those taught using chart. Also, there was no significant difference in academic achievement of rural and urban senior secondary school students taught Islamic studies using audio-visual media and those taught using chart This study concluded that audio-visual media has a significant effect on academic achievement of senior secondary school Islamic Studies students.  The study recommended that  infrastructure of the schools should be designed in such a way that of audio-visual aids  could be used successfully.

Abstract

This study was designed to ascertain the extent of utilization of multimedia facilities among Secondary School Students in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State. The study adopted the quasi experimental design, specifically the pretest posttest non-equivalent group design.  Two research questions and hypotheses were formulated, answered and tested respectively. The population consists of 527 senior secondary school students. The sample was made up of two hundred and fifty students (one hundred and thirty males and one hundred and twenty females). The data were collected using Questionnaire titled” Multimedia Facilities in Biology questionnaire (MFBQ)” and “Biology Achievement Test (BAT)”. The instruments were validated by experts. Data were analyzed using percentage and mean for research questions with a bench mark of 2.5 while chi –square and T-tests were used to test the hypotheses at p<0.05 significance. The result from the findings revealed that the students taught using multimedia facilities performed better than those not taught with multimedia facilities, multimedia facilities were not available enough in the secondary schools in Obudu, teachers’ competence in the use of multimedia facilities was good as observed from the frequency of use which had influence on students’ academic achievement in Secondary Schools Obudu Local Government of Cross River State. It was however inferred based on the findings that the failure rate of students will be reduced if appropriate and relevant multimedia facilities were provided for the teaching of biology in secondary schools. Finally, it was recommended among others that the teaching of biology in secondary schools in Obudu should be conducted in the manner that students will effectively understand and learn the concepts taught with the use of the multimedia facilities and that the Federal and State Government should periodically organize and sponsor teachers’ attendance to conferences, seminars and workshops on utilization of multimedia facilities in teaching and learning processes.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between social media (SN) use, work environment (WE), and research output among lecturers in private universities in Ogun State, Nigeria. A survey research design was utilized, with a sample population of 621 lecturers from management & social science and natural & applied science in all private universities in Ogun State. Data was collected using a questionnaire, and both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The extent of SN use among lecturers was found to be below average, while the quality of WE were found to be conducive for research activities. The study also revealed that SN and WE jointly influenced lecturers' research output. In conclusion, this study recommends that lecturers increase their use of SN while at the same time ensuring a conducive work environment to improve the low research output among lecturers in private universities in Ogun State, Nigeria. The combined use of SN and a supportive WE could enhance research output and contribute to the overall academic success of lecturers in private universities.

To this end, the study investigated the online readiness of students towards digitalization of university learning system with 333 out of 2000 undergraduate students in public universities. Three research questions guided while Students’ Readiness for Online University Learning Scale (SROULS) instrument was developed for this study. The results indicate high level of readiness of students towards digitalization of university learning with overall mean of the construct at 3.73. Also, the percentage level of online readiness of female student insignificantly differs from the male students. Challenges affecting digitization of university learning system were identified. Therefore, it recommended legalization of online university system and provision of enabling environment for its successful implementation in Nigerian education; improved power stability, internet connectivity among others.
