Abstract

Students must possess fundamental mathematical abilities to comprehend and utilize the complex mathematical models that are integral to the understanding of physical concepts. The objective of this study is to analyze the basic mathematical skills of the incoming class of 2023 students enrolled in the Physics Education Study Program at FMIPA UNM, with particular attention to the ongoing impact of the global pandemic. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed with a total of 93 research subjects. The data were collected via multiple-choice tests covering five principal areas: series and numbers, algebra, geometry, group data analysis, and mathematical modeling. The results of the study indicated that the mean student score was 11.27 out of a maximum score of 25, which is indicative of a low ability category. 89.02% of students exhibited a lack of proficiency, with only one individual scoring above 16 points. This low ability presents a significant challenge to learning physics, which requires a firm grasp of mathematical concepts to fully comprehend topics such as mechanics, optics, and thermodynamics. Factors such as the suboptimal quality of mathematics instruction at the high school level and student selection methods that are not tailored to the specific demands of the study program contribute to this outcome. This study proposes the implementation of remedial mathematics programs and curriculum enhancements to enhance the fundamental mathematical competencies of physics students.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the discourse network surrounding the Tabungan Perumahan Rakyat (Tapera) program in online media coverage. Using the Discourse Network Analysis (DNA) method, the research examines the relationships among entities, concepts, and arguments presented in news coverage published between May 27, 2024, and June 10, 2024. A total of 16 articles from nine online media platforms were analyzed, resulting in the identification of 22 concepts and 33 actors actively involved in the discussion. The findings reveal two major groups: supporters and opponents of the Tapera program. Government actors predominantly support the initiative, while political parties and non-governmental organizations express resistance. The study highlights key issues such as program benefits, concerns about forced participation, and transparency. By mapping the discursive dynamics, this research provides valuable insights into how media shapes public opinion and perception of housing policy. The findings underscore the need for enhanced public communication and in-depth policy evaluation to ensure successful implementation. Abstract

Abstract This study examines the marketing strategies employed by the TikTok account @kafani.id to strengthen its brand identity and build brand awareness within Indonesia’s rapidly growing TikTok user base. Using Kapferer’s Hexagonal Identity Prism framework, the research explores how @kafani.id creatively integrates elements like visual identity, brand personality, cultural values, and audience engagement to promote niche products such as burial shrouds and funeral supplies. Through a qualitative case study approach involving content analysis of TikTok activities, including live streaming sessions and audience interactions, the findings reveal that @kafani.id effectively leverages TikTok’s algorithm-driven promotion, viral marketing through electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM), and entertaining yet respectful communication. By combining educational and humorous content with active engagement, the brand creates a unique identity while fostering strong emotional connections with its audience. The study concludes that creativity, authenticity, and culturally driven narratives can transform unconventional products into appealing digital brands, emphasizing TikTok's potential as a powerful marketing platform.

Abstract

This study explores the perceptions of first-semester students in the Fine Arts Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Makassar regarding character education policies in higher education. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected from 44 respondents through interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal diverse understandings of character education policies, with students identifying their objectives as fostering integrity, responsibility, and ethical values. Respondents emphasized the integration of character education into the curriculum, teaching methods, and student evaluations. Specific implementations include discussions, case studies, and personal reflections that align with academic and character-building goals. Students largely perceived these values as relevant to academic and social life, fostering discipline, empathy, and collaboration. This research underscores the importance of aligning character education policies with practical applications in teaching and learning processes to cultivate holistic and ethical individuals.
